I bought the portal on release, planning on using it for mlb the show. I have recently been playing mlb the show 23 just to see how it will perform before mlb 24 releases. And the experience is horrible. The resolution drops, everything is blurry, and the input delay is horrible. To time a swing with the portal is almost impossible. I’m curious the internet speeds Sony used when testing the portal because I have very solid internet and it’s not a good experience. I have my pc hard wired, and if I use a hot spot it is unusable, . So what it seems is you need your ps5 hardwired and also to sit on top of your router and ps5. Which would then make sense to just play your ps5
Do you have any microstutters on performance mode every 10 to 15 seconds? It’s not a lag, but it’s like a brief moment of fps drop as the portal and ps5 try to sync with each other. The pa5 outputs at 59.94 hz, whereas the portal outputs at 60 causing a screen stutter
I am hoping you can help me out. My PlayStation portal whenever i click the share button says gameplay not recording. This prevents me from making clips. Can you please help me out how do i fix this?
Yeah so I recently just got a new router thinking it would solve all latency stuttering issues etc. Did everything I could to make it better My Internet is considered good anyway but was having issues. However when I used it at my partners house away from home and her ps5 not even hard wired it was working flawlessly. £120 later and after setting up the router for 3 hours I still had the same issue..
Oh man that's absolutely interesting it seems like there are so many different variables that can affect the connection the PlayStation portal seems to be anything but perfect however if you can get it running properly it is an absolute dream beginning it there can be such a chore
@jackmobile5606 set your settings to where your tv doesn't turn on whenever your ps5 turns on. Switch the ps5 output to automatic instead of 4k. If it's set to 5ghz wifi in the ps5 settings you might have issues with connectivity assuming multiple walls are in the way so switch back 2.4 or auto. (5ghz was worse for me). It runs smooth for me and it sucks you're having these issues
@@DamnitgaryI will definitely try this. Got my portal 2 days ago, have already reset it twice since I was not happy with how choppy and laggy it felt. I’ll place everything on auto pretty much.
can someone help me, my remote play works from my work wifi on my pc but it doesnt on my portal. it works fine when the ps5 and portal are on the same network at home but i wanna play it on my break at work and it doesn't work please help me
Were you able to figure this issue out? I have the same problem going on. Portal worked great a couple days after receiving it but now it doesn’t work when it’s on separate networks..
@@irvinrivera7065 yes you have to port forward the network on your home router (router which ps5 is attached to). There's loads of video tutorials on how to do it
I don't blame you the PlayStation portal is an acquired taste in a manner of speaking there are so many different variables some people are reporting absolutely no issues and others it is not working in the slightest
@@AloushManI did regret it and bought another one. I’ve seen so many wildly different experiences on it that I wanted to try it again. So I wired my ps5 with a brand new Ethernet cable (the newest one I could buy) and unplugged the hdmi port from the back of the ps5 and it works a lot better

My worked fine for the first two weeks now haven’t played it since it started lagging
You can also turn down the resolution on the ps5 as well.

@CHILLSCISSORS well the chore is now to get refund on the router and accept the fact that the portal just isn't doing it for me lol

Is it best to select 1080p or Automatic for best performance

You can use Bluetooth on it if you use a 3.5mm aux transmitter.

@@irvinrivera7065 Yes you need to do port forwarding. Do it on the router connected to your PS5.
I returned the portal. It was rough. And I have great internet.

Honestly, thinking of doing the same. Have you regretted that decision?
