Not to plug, but I just got in to lure making. I got a book off Amazon (use Marlings link) Making Wooden Fishing Lures, by Rich Rousseau has been really helpful for me!
Given the realism of this one and your recent crappie, I think you need to revisit your attempt at making a replica mount. Your skill set is hitting an unbelievable level!
Early congrats on 500k! We need a 500k special. Make a jointed wakebait with 500k painted across the side, (in bluegill color) 😂👍🏼 kinda confusing I know
I love that after all that time spent hunting flies. There one flies behind your head as you stir epoxy and lands on your right shoulder to watch you work. Somehow with your sense of humor I feel like you set that up
Seeing chip pop up in old videos just hits different since he has passed on. I get this happy "aww it's chip" feeling then followed by sad "aw chips gone" feeling. Luckily these videos are here and we all can enjoy seeing chip chip when he was younger including Marling baits himself. Rest easy to the bestest bait making dog there ever was and will be
Those gill striations you were referring to are called "branchiostegal rays", and the number of those rays can be a key ID feature on some fish species
I have just restored and modded an old ac shiner this is the first lure I have successfully airbrushed thanks to learning from your wealth of knowledgeable about lure making
been around since before you talked in every video. I may be forgetting somebody but I believe this is hands down my favorite channel on the entire platform. thanks for all the entertainment nate.
Fun fact, you can make like chipping textures (when painting) , you put your first layer, say white, then you spray 2 coats of hairspray, then you spray your second layer (say black) and then you take a brush, dip it in some water and slowly start brushing the 2nd layer, which results into it chipping off the 2nd layer. (Works best with acrylic paints) oh and also clear coat it
Wow...I've watched i don't even know how many of your videos and this is probably my favorite lure you've done...all the little details just stunning ...well done sir
First time I’ve heard you mention bowfin and that would make a great lure, the juveniles I’ve caught have a false eye and the most vibrant lime green fins I’ve ever seenst.
I feel like the flies are mocking him. He just gets done saying he needs to kill all of the flies so they don't get in his clear coat at 16:41 and one buzzes right over his head.
Been about a year since I've been able to do anything with fishing due to getting everything in my garage stolen. Long story short I've been replacing all my stuff. Got most of my power tools replaced and almost all my fly tying stuff. Bought a kayak recently and am about to get ready to start making baits again. I started cause of your videos. Every single video you make is inspiring man. Thank you for this content. My birthday is in November...I'll be 40. Hopefully by then I'll be setup to make a daily fishing/kayaking/bait making video. Sorry for the long comment just really wanted to say thanks. I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee someday. But I know you don't like to leave the house. Lol..can't really argue with that. Tight lines man...wishing you and your family the best.
Hearing you talk about the bad weather walleye bite reminds me of when we were out fishing for them on Erie with literal 5-6foot rollers. And of course they were biting and we stayed out enduring 8 hours of rain, cold, wind, and monster waves. Worth it. Lol.
Make a Darter Minnow! Red, White and Blue The Walleye is beautiful! Your Video Making Skills are comparable to your Lure Painting Skills. Which are Top-Notch!!! You deserve every bit of good fortune in life. I love all the videos! KEEP IT UP! and....... A Darter Minnow would be awesome!
Marling saying that he’s close to 500k subscribers but he doesn’t think it will be close and me being curious took a look and was glad to see he finally made it, congrats!!
Thanks for another stellar journey. I accidentally turned on my Pandora and hippie sabotage started playing over the paint process and it matched up really well.
Here in Wyoming, Walleye fishing is very popular especially in alcova because there is a 8 fish limit for walleye apposed to 5 in Pathfinder. Our state wants Alcova to be a "Trout Only" lake which means that for a lot of people, catching Walleye can be very difficult. Great video man, keep it up!
You really keep outdoing yourself on these paint jobs. Even better the action was as good as you could ever want. Nifty gar catch too! You keep raising the bar. Get this man to 500k everyone. He deserves it!!
Even after spending hours studying and stressing over my practical exam in ichthyology I have tomorrow, I still find your videos relaxing. I think that says a lot
I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I always try to guess the clips you will use at the end, as a game for myself and I finally got it with “sticky paper towels”. Love the videos
So I had a horrible day. Thanks MB for saving my sanity; great video. Also, I'm in CT and I jig chartreuse soft plastic paddle tail along the bottom and land walleye all day long. In our neck of the woods they spend 90% of their time at or near the bottom. 5 inch plastics weed out the little ones.
Would love to see more antique lure builds and also a lure building for beginners series
I just got into lure making and would love a series like that
Lads he has loads, wer past that now 🙄
Beginner series would be awesome
You have become very proficient in your painting of ppaints that your create . Great work . I think you should be colaberating wit proffessional

That little larva was pretty cute

A replica mount is a fantastic idea!
@YouBetchaOutdoors for sure
Just what I needed after a day at school God bless
We all can relate
I can relate to that man
@@noahjohns7954 What’s up? You on Fishbrain right?
You truly are a Master Baiter Sir.

Yup
Segmented bait that's just the number 500,000
Wow, I remember the original 100k snake. Can't believe we've all got to watch Marling grow!
But mine is on 499K but I want to see a a special lure definitely
Or a snake bait with 500 joints?🤣

The fact you don't have 1million subs yet is baffling.
The content is epic. I've even dabbled in bait making myself, because of you.
Same here!
Me too. I've carved some terrible looking lures and done some painting on crank baits.
What does dabbled mean
The more I watch your channel the more I respect the time, effort, materials and equipment you have. kudos
Those gill striations you were referring to are called "branchiostegal rays", and the number of those rays can be a key ID feature on some fish species
Where do you learn that? That's awesome, didn't know!

GIMME ME THE DUNK
yessss
Out of the many, many lures I’ve seen you make. This is the 1 I would most like to have in my collection.
Just the calm cool and collective vibe this guy brings while with great creativity just brings good vibes I wanna try this stuff
Great lure, one of the nicest looking. As for the viewers, don't change a thing with your show. It's great the way it's done.
I think we can all agree that this guy is an absolute GENIUS!!! Just when I thought everything's been done you blow our minds once again!

Ah yes, this floor is made of floor.
AYEEEEEE!
LOL ikr
That bait is so good !!!! It looks like you took a filet and glued it to your carving. Wow !!!

Yeah my friend Candice made it for me.
Great paint as always. It was nice to see Chip again.
Walleye don’t fight hard but the way they hit your lure is crazy
Taste pretty good too
@@tims_always_fishing8105 what do you mean… walleye are very light biters.
The more I look at this bait, I think I'm obsessed with it. Nice work my friend.
Marling Baits: Kills "all flies"
Flies: Moves in closer when the epoxy is brought out and lands on his shoulder.
17:21
Theres one also at 16:42 right after he’s done talking about shooting them flys😂😂
Why am I always so happy when a new video comes online?
Almost 500k!!! What can't wait to see what the 500k special lure is! So just a pre-congrats on 500k!!!
That might be the most real looking bait I've ever see you make
I feel like the flies are mocking him. He just gets done saying he needs to kill all of the flies so they don't get in his clear coat at 16:41 and one buzzes right over his head.
That’s a gorgeous looking bait/hook! Looking more like work of Art now! Soooo nice 👍

You should make a low-poly lure that looks like its from an old video game
Dude the realism in this thing is pure insanity. You have so much talent man.
Us fly fisherman would absolutely love to see you try to tie a streamer or two! 😁
An amazing paint job, looks so realistic. The eyes are top tier.
Just saying. Making a lure out of superglue and baking soda would be pretty cool
Hahaha I got the same idea
16:17 That poor fly came and went in the same instant! Awesome seeing Chip in your video again!
Now thats a beautiful paint job..im supprised its not FLOPPING ON THE TABLE..SO REAL LOOKING!!
That has to be one of the best looking baits I have ever seen!!!
I love the eyes on that one. Really sick looking bait!

Probably the best looking Walleye bait I've ever seen. Gr8 paint job!
Congrats on the new baby!
Good job👍👍
I had a hunch watching the build that it was going to produce. Your work is that exceptional. You are a true artisan. Very well done.
That is a 10/10. So realistic and beautiful.
Your videos are very therapeutic -- I've binged days over the past few months. Thanks for the great content!
your baits evolve! they become greater with each creation! That bait was beautiful! So much detail.

This walleye crank is amazing. Paint job is stunning, and pretty sure that action would crush fish out here in California. Striper candy forsure.
Every time I see this lure I love it even more
