    I have a 2017 Elantra value edition with 65k miles, oil changes every 5k miles and done all services per Hyundai. No issues and I love the car!

    We own a 2014 SEL 1.8L. Cannot complain about a thing. 99k miles and still going strong. Trans shifts like a dream and gets good gas mileage in the road (up to 45mpg). Couldn't be happier.

    Thanks for the update. That's crazy about the bees! I've just turned 20,000 miles on my identical 2018 Elantra SEL. I do really love my car, but man it's having issues. The front end was making a creaky noise. Turned out it needed a new front left strut, which was replaced under warranty. Also, more often than not, the engine pings, hesitates, and sometimes acts like it'll stall. From what I've read, the ignition coils are defective. Two local dealerships have been no help with that. The transmission started banging down into 3rd gear when I'd slow down. I could feel and HEAR it. They reflashed the control module (sorry if the wrong terminology) and that resolved the issue. Though the transmission started slamming into 3rd gear upshift when the engine is cold now. I don't have much faith in the longevity of this transmission.

    • @jaxandmore440
      @jaxandmore440 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnconnor2402 it's a shame because it's actually a very nice car for the money, but I definitely don't recommend it because of all of the common reliability problems with this particular generation of Elantra. Having a long warranty with your new car is great, however, it's pretty worthless when the dealership never knows how to fix your car.

    Fun review - my first car was a LaSalle (kidding) - it was an Impala just out of warranty that fast became a rolling money pit (heater control jammed full on during August in Florida, etc.,etc.). Just keep in mind, if you own a Hyundai Elantra and here a vibrating noise while driving, it is not the suspension, it's the engine mount. Get it fixed it's very easy and not expensive. They wear out easily. I got mines replaced and it runs like new again

    My car (non Hyundai) is a little slow to warm up in the winter. Apparently for my car, the coolant goes to the transmission heat exchanger to help warm the transmission before the heater core.

  • @tuanh_duong

    I really should do a video similar to yours not gonna lie. I purchased mine as a CPO and it has been for the most part a solid, reliable vehicle. There are some things that I did experience: A cylinder misfire, tiny paint chip on the hood, and an exterior trim piece near the front windshield coming off. I'm going onto my second year now, replaced the battery just a few weeks back, and will replace the tires this upcoming state inspection.

    Well... I hate to be the one telling you of bad things to come. Here I go. I own one too. Your transmission is going to fail at 65K miles. The sensors are going to need to be replaced. Very sensitive to any amount of carbon build up. Burns oil starting at that mileage... Trade up or in before you reach 70K miles... Heed my warning. The pistons start slapping at that mileage too... Cannot do anything to prevent it. Don't get me wrong, I love the Elantra.. just get rid of it before 70K miles.

    The absolute worst major issue I've had with my 2018 Hyundai Elantra that I bought brand new in July 2018 is the tires I have an SE model with the standard 15 inch steel wheel and Nexium tires the tires only lasted 8000 Miles one tire was already literally separating it was trickery to the eye because to look at the tire and they still look brand new but under closer examination of the tires after they were taking off for balancing it was noticed then. I went from getting 38 miles to the gallon down to 24 miles to the gallon. I try to get the Hyundai dealership Napleton Hyundai to replace the tires under warranty according to my warranty Tire book the car was only 3 years old and the warranty is for 4 years actually technically five but Hyundai refuse to deal with the issue and said I'd have to take it up on my own with the tire manufacturer Nexium I got absolutely nowhere so I went to Goodyear and had Goodyear put four brand new tires on the car called Goodyear Assurance maxlife my car now is getting 42 miles to the gallon. It now drives like a completely different vehicle much more steady and responsive I am really impressed with the new tires and very depressed about the old tires any Tire should last more than 8000 Miles and I find it extremely ridiculous that I had to replace the tires at 8,000 miles even from day one owning the car it had all kinds of vibrations and Wobbles now that I have the new tires on the car I feel none of that. The other problem I'm having is it's very hard to put gas in the car because the gas door always sticks it's not the actual cable rather the latching system within the door itself what should be a simple fix is turning out to be a nightmare the Hyundai dealership refuses to fix the problem or even acknowledge it. I talked to many Hyundai owners and they all have the same complaint about the tires Hyundai loves to use Nexium tires and those are the worst tires I have ever come across and by the way I don't drive crazy I drive usually on smooth roads I have never had the car even on a dirt road. So if you're getting bad gas mileage with your Hyundai make sure you check the tires out just because they look okay doesn't mean they are get them professionally inspected. A personal note I would recommend Goodyear because you'll get nowhere with Hyundai dealerships at least the dealerships here in Florida suck that's one thing for sure. They'll try to charge you over $200 for an oil change $60 for shop rags $130 for wheel balancing. And whether you have an appointment or not you'll probably be at the dealership all day also be aware of their automatic car washes they put dents and scratches in my tailgate even though I told them not to put it through the carwash they did so anyway and and I actually witnessed the carwash because I am very anal retentive when it comes to my car so I walk to the back of the dealership to watch the car goes through and I actually saw the arm of the car wash break and go out of control on my tailgate even though I personally witnessed it screaming to turn the car wash off and reported it to the service manager the service managers response was to call the police because I was causing a scene and said that he would not cover the damage even though they're they themselves did a walk around the car before the car was serviced and their service report itself says there was no damage to the car and now there is. He told me to contact my insurance company and it is not the dealerships problem and the dealership said that I was no longer welcome to come to their dealership and if I did it would be considered trespassing this is the kind of treatment you get at a Hyundai dealership in Florida particularly that of the Napleton name Napleton Hyundai.

    I ended up selling my 2018 Elantra SEL after 3 years and 25k miles. Too many major problems, including drivability issues, made it unsafe. I was really disappointed because I loved the car aside from the issues.

    Hi Guys, what interval do you follow for Elantra's oil and oil filter change? Here in Canada, dealers recommend 6000 kms, which is for severe usage pattern according to the Owner's manual. It's a real pain though.☹

    Useful information guys! Just bought an 18 Elantra SEL. 8kmiles and very pleased. How long did yours sit without driving before the Battery died? I notice onboard computer warns me alot about Battery drain when I'm parked/engine off but listening to music. Also MPG "seems" awesome but have you ever confirmed it's accurate the old fashioned way against the odometer? Our Subaru overstates MPG but I haven't accurately checked the Elantra yet.

      I have a 2018 and I’ve put 25k on it in a year, haven’t had any problems whatsoever other than hitting a bobcat a few months ago and destroying the front bumper, but insurance took care of that. It’s a great car and it doesn’t have that damn cvt, so it’s got a pretty decent trans in it as well. If you bought it used it’s seriously all about the previous owner. If you buy these with less than 20k on them and keep up with the services stated in the manual, you’ll be good. I’ve ran full synthetic since I bought it, so keep in mind simple maintenance habits go a long way.
