SORRY FOR THE ANIMATIONS INSTEAD OF THE BUMP! Davinci resolve robbed me of the plugin I used to make them bob with my voice, so I had to animate stuff literally the day before editing finalization. I hope yall still enjoy :)
I think the animations work in some places. I believe a few of them need some more dramatic arcs for the arms and an extra key frame or in-between to smooth out some of them. I especially think the one where your model is throwing his arm was pretty funny. The only major gripe I think I personally had with it is I think it looks a little weird when your model comes off his legs when speaking. I understand it's based on the Minecraft models so idk how much you should play with it to make it still look like Minecraft but help with that separation. Anyway I think you should keep the animations after tweaking them and use them in the videos with the usual bump. I think finding a way to work with both will be really cool.
Totally agree! Legit made them last minute so I havent had time to cook them well. Ill see what I can do, and I wish I could use the bounce still. Alas, its locked behind paid davinci. Never to be seen again until I legitimately cough up 300 dollars.
@@therealbottomdweller oof yeah that 300 is a lot to drop on a software. I don't blame you for having to go a different route. At least the animations work well and honestly make the videos a lot more quality.
About the fire clay, that's also something fixed in the next update: there's now ways to make fire clay with any clay and flint that has been cooked and then ground. The only complaints I have with it is that flint takes a long time to cook and natural spawning fire clay seems to be more rare (the new red clay seems to be a lot more common than the old blue clay though). Also, there's now a late game way to cook a LOT of clay items at the same time so you can make LOTS of fire clay bricks at once. Also also, torches kinda suck for illumination even with torch holders, much better to use lanterns that are made with candles (which you can make with wax you can get from bees, or you can find some by panning bony soil), glass or clear quartz and pretty much any metal plate. And if you can't make lanterns, grease lamps also work a lot better than torches, though I'd install the mod that lets you put them on walls.
Glad the clay issue is being solved. I still stand by the fact that we need another furnace alternative tho that doesnt require breaking it lmao. As for the light sources, the lanterns I imagine worked better. The problem is its pretty far into the game and I think that torch holders have potential to be an early game light source option, but its actively working against itself if that makes sense? Otherwise yeah use the lanterns :)
been playing VS since oct 2023 and personally I really enjoy the process of prospecting since it forces you to travel. youll find resources (wild crops, fruit trees, berries, wood and stone types, and more ores), ruins, traders, and land that you may find interesting
Could not agree more. It forces you to interact with the world, not just settle in a certain location and dig straight down for all your ressources. Sure it might make progressing some steps of the journey more time consuming, but what is the rush anyway? Vintage Story really is a game about the slow steady progression.
Honestly that was and still is my main problem with Minecraft as while the world generation can make some really cool areas to explore everything you could ever need is in a short walk from your house so once you settle there is hardly any good reason for you to venture out so I find it really nice when a game forces you to explore and interact with the wider world
Okay, that ore shaping mechanic has just sold me on vintage story, deffo gonna have to play it now (And thank you for the Raspberry Flavored modpack, it's been a shit load of fun!)
@therealbottomdweller true, I definitely agree that they should be made with other metals but figured I'd let you know since they're pretty easy to build when you can get access to candles and quartz
8:15 fire clay as of 1.20 will not spawn naturally anymore (being replaced by red clay) and you will have to craft fire clay from naturally spawning blue or red clay vains (actually fire clay will occasionally generate under coal vains but that’s negligible in my opinion)
I want to encourage new players to join the discord too. There's a very nice community there, and if you ask questions in main, you'll usually get an answer right up until you resolve it. I have a different name in there but if you ping me with a question i'll be glad to help. This game is just fun
if you hold Alt while, knapping stones, Clay Forming, working on your anvil, ... the game will make it so that you can do your job with just the mouse cursor without having to move your camera around.
About prospecting, certain ores only spawn in certain rocks, so if you know which rock bears which ore, you can just travel around the world until you found a rock that bears certain ore. and then you prospect
6:33 *voxel - And wait until you figure out that you can use & combine multiple different blocks / materials within the same chiseled block... 10:48 You can excavate ruins or find underground ones for ruined torch holders, lanterns, and chandeliers. You can also craft lanterns out of various materials. And you can also find those sources from traders. Fire clay will be much rarer in 1.20, but can also be crafted.
I just got the game, and wow. This really is a sleeper hit. It's complex, but it walks you through everything with the in game guide, it's lighting is beautiful, the music captures that same early Minecraft vibes, and I got 2 shot by a deer.
One of the first mods I installed when I started playing over a year ago was Bloomery Drops on break. So, you still have to break the bloomery to get the items out, but it drops the bloomery and chimney, so you can just place them back down.
Your biggest gripes with this game are yet also topics that you applauded in the last video. The games impeccable way of giving you a million things to do, yet no real down time where you're left twiddling your thumbs. Having to travel all over the world to find, say fire clay or a specific metal, simply forces you to interact with the world. It's a very natural way to get you to discover all sorts of new stuff like: Ruins, Lore, New plants, Different animals, etc. That world discovering time would otherwise likely just be spend idling in front of the bloomeries waiting for the iron to finish blooming. The fact that fire clay gets used up might be somewhat annoying, but it just sends you back out into the world. Also the current new update that is soon fully finished is going to have a recipe to craft fireclay, so you only need to find more readily common materials. Framing this in another way: Is the system of item durability also a problem because you could risk spending all of your tin on tin bronze tools, and therefore you have to go out into the world to find more tin? Tin can also be quite hard to find. Same with Zinc or Bismuth.
Guess my opinion just evolved with time! Its all good, first video served as a first impression and this serves more as a final thoughts situation. I appreciate ya making that clear though, apologies for any confusion I may have caused! Hopefully Ill see you again

Something you should check out in the long term is several of the big mods - primitive survival adds some basic fishing mechanics for one. Firearms is one that has some difficult progression but feels oh so sweet when you finally take down a wolf in one hit.
I’m not too bothered about the prodpicting but it’s def something you have to learn and understand how the game works, def makes you explore a lot which leads me to wanting to make path blocks for quicker travel. I tend to get bees as soon as I can to get a good supply of candles and I usually have the ability to make lanterns by the time I have a house big enough to worry about spawnproofing.
