I owned a landscaping company. Joined numerous local Facebook groups. Used ethos to market myself. Generated more than $15000 in revenue. Social media can be your best friend
Agreed on Facebook Groups! It's all about making connections! Congrats!
What is Ethos?
@@AngelinaLeTVI guess he meant ethnic groups like Slavic, Mexican, Indian groups
she is so right about that we don't need a website and and social media Im 17 and i don't use them
🙂
Lol then she tells you to advertise on two social sites.
@@BrandyGrayinvesting in your own business can benefit you in the long run!
@@BrandyGray right! Also, I have heard nothing but negative things about using Yelp from other cleaning business owners. Nothing positive at all. Makes me wonder about these tactics.
Tell me more
Securing a website with full domain protection is like $80 total for 3 years and it makes you look professional & organized, so well worth the investment in my opinion
It certainly can... but the biggest issue is if that site doesn't actually look professional and organized (which I see all the time), you lose client trust before you even have the opportunity to gain it. But when done right... it's absolutely a good thing! :-)
I used yelp and got a lot of scammers as customers
That comes w/ the territory sometimes... and Yelp is getting more expensive too. I am currently testing some new methods! :-)
@@TheProfessionalCleaner so what’re the new options? Yelp scammed us out of over $1,000
@@drewbower4623 As my latest video on this topic says, I really don't recommend paid ads for new/struggling cleaning businesses. Inside my program I don't recommend my students use them until they have reached the $100K / year sales mark. They are just too risky, and shouldn't be viewed as a shortcut. There was a time where things like Yelp worked great, but stories like yours are unfortunately becoming more and more common. :-( This is the latest version of this video... th-cam.com/video/9rlNageki08/w-d-xo.html&t I stand behind the idea that nothing will ever be as powerful as building relationships and networking. :-)
I’ve been filling all your steps and I’m hanging on to (Faith, hope, staying calm,) not feeling overwhelmed… even tho is hard. Competition is crazy out there. I’m waiting for that right opportunity for the right person to pass our information along ❤

Very nice video. To the point and informative. Thank you 🙏🏽

you said you didn't have a yelp account then you turn around and tell everyone to get a yelp account?
Yep, because my biz is established and don’t feel I need it. I get more than enough referrals. But I do recommend it if a biz owner is actively looking for more clients. 😊
@@TheProfessionalCleaner ok that makes sense

Is yelp also good for Commercial cleaning. Or is that usually beat for residential?
Hello! I actually don't rec Yelp anymore. My updated how to find clients video reflects that. Leads got too expensive. Networking for commercial is far the best option. :-)
I’m so interested I do cleaning Airbnb and I want more 😊
How did you go about contacting them?? That’s my ideal clientele
@@NoteworthyBeauty I was hired with this one cleaning company, before I’m doing different houses and clients keep me they want me to go back every 2 weeks and 3 weeks to them without under company they ask my personal contack , and now I wanted to do myself for Airbnb without the company
@@bearbunnychannel9648 Sounds like you're on the right track! 🙂
@@NoteworthyBeauty My #1 recommendation is to reach out to property management companies. These companies usually manage all aspects of vacation rentals, and they are always looking for cleaning vendors to work with. It used to be easier to contact the owners directly, but AirBNB and VRBO are making that harder these days.
TH-cam is not social media 😅 where she is briefing
🤷🏼♀️ Google says... "TH-cam is not just a part of social media; it is a social media behemoth. Any marketer worth their ambition would recognize it as such." LOL
Wow this video answered so many questions for me. This was great
Glad you enjoyed it!
So I can get commercial clients without having an online presence (website, social media, etc.)??
Absolutely! People oversell the need for a website. It's just a tool. But it doesnt do anything if people don't ever see it. So it's way better and faster to get in front of your ideal clients and solve their cleaning problems. And trust me... they won't care whether you have a website or not. Their main concerns are 1) will you deliver on your promises? 2) can we agree on a price? That's it.
Hi ! Mam I am an Appointment setter, I do have a team and I'm Looking for some clients whom I can provide Prospects in there Local area Who are looking for cleaning companies, Can You help me Find those clients Thanks In advance.
I havent needed this in my local cleaning biz but I'll keep you in mind! :-)
Hi Bethany 🙋♂️
Whatever you tell us is great, 🙏 but unfortunately it doesn't work in the UK and Ireland. without flyers, social media pages, web pages, paid advertising, etc. you won't be able to find any clients here or you must be a woman to start working as a self-employed cleaner and expand your client base. especially in Ireland no one allows you to clean if you are a man, even if you are a professional... and one more thing: for everything that they pay you 250 dollars, here you will hardly get 60-80 euros
Thanks for your support! I don't have knowledge of the man vs woman topic over there... that's sad though. And discriminatory. :-( And although we are in the US and we've never had a cleaning business in the UK... the same basic truth applies everywhere. There are always 2 types of clients, value driven and price driven. So please don't assume that everyone is 'only willing to pay' a certain amount. Trust me... there are ALWAYS people willing to pay more for quality. It's just a matter of finding them. :-) There are LOTS of biz owners here in the US who say the same. So dont give up!
@@TheProfessionalCleaner Thanks for your reply❤️
Of course I won't give up ✊

As soon as she recommend yelp. I am out. They are horrible facts.
LOL... check out the new version of this video on my channel... I no longer recommend Yelp. They used to be great... sadly not anymore. TH-cams awesome, but always remember that while things can change, our videos are forever. :-) Thanks for watching!
this was the most help I have got on social media
So glad to hear that! 😀
With my luck all the people that I cleaned for want to low ball me and I'm a good cleaner and they want to pay me from $40 $60 $80 and no more than that, like all of this for 4 hours each and each house is over 2,0000 square footage or more. Along with deep cleaning and washing clothes front porch and so on. Your thoughts on that and thank you they set there own prices.
You need to be in control! Know your worth and find clients that not only accept that, but SUPPORT that! Find an hourly rate you're comfortable with and stick to that number. :-)
That's crazy.. sometimes you have to say no, stand your ground, or set a minimum amount & inform the client prior
Never give up and let anyone low ball you especially, when you are good at what you do.
Yeah I was going thru that and did come up with a good rate for my business and know my worth. We get people all the time that tries to low ball us and we don't give in at all
I’ve never used yelp for anything. I hate yelp.
Yeah check out the recent version of this video... I don't recommend Yelp anymore. :-(
Your course is expensive we don't need it we just follow you tips we are good to go
Currently mine is the least expensive option... but version 3 is coming soon with a price bump. But happy my videos are helping you either way! :-)
How do you get a hold of the corporate number to offices ?
We just Google them 👍
Hello @ThePofessionalCleaner! first of all, congratulations on your channel, It brings a lot of info about the cleaning business and I think you have a nice personality and presence which is important when one is trying to follow an expert. In this video, you mention having advertising on Yelp, but when I did, 60 to 70% of the calls I got from them, they were coming from scammers. I live in Charlotte NC so, I don't know if this was because of the area or something else. I heard people in Seattle, Yelp works wonders for them. Just my 2 seconds of fame, and again congratulations!!!👏👏👏
Thanks for the support! Yelp isn't quite as effective as it once was IMO... so I am currently testing Google Local Services Ads. You might test those too. But I always stand by my opinion that nothing beats networking and building in person relationships. :-)
I enjoy cleaning I always wanted to have my own cleaning business and your channel is very helpful thank you.
Happy to help!

How many lines was your newspaper ad? Did you pay the minimum or did you pay extra for words or lines? Was it in the classified section or the business section of the newspaper? Thanks for any help.
It was a while ago, but it was like an 1/8 page ad as I recall. So a box with my branding, not just text. And it wasn't in classifieds, but was on page with articles. :-)
Hi again, I recently bought your course! Great info in there. I’m going to do handwritten letters. Wanted to ask if sending the letter through direct mail is as effective as leaving it at their door. Driving around to look for houses will be a bit too time consuming especially since I have a full time job. I was thinking of looking at houses through google maps and sending the letters through mail to prospects. Pls let me know your input.

Greetings.
The concern/issue I have is going to potential clients as a new owner with zero experience / zero references. How do you suggest handling this situation? Thank you.
Educate yourself, so you can speak confidently. Thats #1. And your first references don't have to be cleaning references, they could be friends, or former employers. Just be honest with new clients that this is a new business for you. :-)
I dont think we can go door to door in ny without a permit to do so. I know i can't use door hangers here without a permit.
Yet, my friend in florida does not advertize and makes good money.
Those laws do indeed vary place to place. But check with your local government and check to be sure. And yes, once you're up and running and doing a good job advertising becomes less important, due to the power of referrals. :-)
Nice video
Thanks for the comment!
Im hoping to start this business, maybe 10 years from now when I’m brave enough to take risk
Is that the only reason you want to wait that long? The cleaning industry is pretty low risk. If you're willing to work for it, you can build it. :-)
This is anninteresting take to say the least.. but if it worked for you then hey I’m willing to listen
It def works! And the 2024 version of this video is posting Monday so stay tuned! :-)
I want to do commercial business cleaning im starting out and i need help on attracking commercial business clients.
As this video teaches the fastest method is to get in front of people and network!

Go for it! Just make sure it BUILDS prospects trust, and doesn't LOSE it. :-)

Thank you for breaking this down
Thanks for the sub! ☺️
What is the percent success rate for a cleaning business on the first month to the first year is it hard or easy to find clients on the first month
That all depends on you. I never care or focus on statistics like that because they are irrelevant to me. If we want to make something work, we will. They say less than 1% of TH-camrs make money from TH-cam. Yet here I am. So if you want to make your cleaning business succeed, and you put in the work, you will. :-) Finding clients isn't hard, but it does take work. And you can totally build a super profitable cleaning biz within a few months, and even less if you clean yourself for a bit. Just take action!
Hey! Is cold calling an effective way to reach out to homeowners for residential cleaning?
Over the phone would be tough IMO... so I would stick to either a professional flyer, or even try hand written notes like I mention in this video. And my other rec... is to network with realtors. :-)
For a new business do you recommend we the business owner do the cleaning at first then hire subcontractors?? This sounds like a great business for me and my family🙏
That is hands down the quickest path to success! This will allow you get a firm grasp on the business before you start hiring. But it really doesn't need to long to get to hiring. :-)
Once we start our cleaning business where do we go to find clients? Also do we have to use professional cleaning products or walmart cleaning products are okay to start out?
As this video says, getting in front of people and being vocal about what you do is my preferred method. :-) And store bought products are just fine!
Google is not that good when the budget is modest and Yelp working politic is discussing even thou they are good for starters in terms of lower budget.
Paid ads are def not my preference in this biz, but I am currently testing new methods and will make a new video about it! But this is why getting in front of people has always been way more profitable... and I don't see that changing anytime soon. :-)
Thank you for the information 💁♀️ 🙏
Thanks for watching!
200 dollars. How much cleaning would you do for that?.
Genuine question
My current hourly rate is $75-$100 depending on the cleaning client type. And I encourage my students to charge what they are worth. Too many people think cleaning is a cheap skill, so they charge too little. But high paying clients are out there, and they will pay up for quality providers. :-)
@@TheProfessionalCleanerthanks 👍🏻
How do you advertise to residential when everywhere says no soliciting?
I'd respect signs if you see them... and real estate agents are another great networking resource. Reach out to them! :-)
Glad i found this channel
Ditto!
Do i need a llc to get contract?
In the US I do recommend LLC's... but I was a sole prop for many years before I filed for a LLC. So really up to you and your biz goals. But you do want to be legal regardless. :-)
Hi Bethany, and thank you for these bingeable videos! The one concern that's been on my mind with respect to commercial cleaning is how do you get into this space with no prior experience or help from family/friends/coworkers (I am in a new city)? I have learned quite a bit about the whole commercial cleaning process, but I don't know what roadblocks there are for someone with no record in the industry. Recently I have been thinking of getting into residential first to get reviews and some experience in that space and then to move into commercial, but I really would prefer to go straight into commercial if this is only a matter of my own overthinking.
You can totally start with commercial, just start small to get your feet wet. Then you can always grow from there into bigger contracts/spaces/etc. You got this! :-)
@@TheProfessionalCleaner I love how you actually made it manageable, this certainly was not in my thinking. Thank you so much for your time and all the help you provide to everyone!

What do you think about the cmr software
Do you mean CRM software? If so, there are many great ones out there. I use Project 2 Payment. Right now it's in the building phase but they have many more features coming soon. :-)
i want to know if i start by cleaning kitchens only in my locations, what do i do or how do i start?.
I actually had the idea years ago of a cleaning business that only cleaned bathrooms for like restaurants and coffee shops, since usually this is the one thing the staff hates doing the most, and I think it would be an easy sell to those business owners. So do you mean like restaurant kitchens or for houses? 😀
Bethany what wording did you use on your paper advertisement?
Something simple... I used: "Providing expert cleaning solutions for your home and business..." :-)
I love your content! Thank you so much I hope you have happy holidays❤
Thank you! You're welcome!
Who are the highest cleaning clients in the comercial side?
Great question... but there really is no concrete answer... bc you can find clients in a variety of industries who will value quality... and THOSE are the clients you want. The ones who value quality will be willing to pay more. In my experience though here are some ideas... local government (city, county) buildings, DR offices, law offices. :-)
this video was very helpful thank you.

Where is the best place to get supplies like squeegee and extension poles etc
I buy as much as I can from Amazon... here is a link to my store. www.amazon.com/shop/theprofessionalcleaner

You’d have more customers if you had a website. Your kidding. No website and 15 years in business?!?
Every business is different, but I teach my students the method of targeting your ideal clients. So no website needed in that case. :-)
@@TheProfessionalCleaner I opened a Yelp for business account but then I saw some bad reviews about it. Yelp has been good in your experience? Any tips for ads?

I do have a Social Media and a Website, how can I use those two to it’s full potential?
Make sure they are polished looking, and keep your website simple. Especially when it comes to booking. I don't recommend bidding calculators, so it would be better for them to just have a simple way to contact you. Remove as much 'friction' as you can for the customer. ;-)
Honestly after they start deleting my review from my clients it’s going worse and worse with Yelp to be honest. And it’s expensive.
