    There are several of these on TH-cam, but yours is by far the best. Removing the water reservoir and the coolant hose makes this *so much easier* - thanks!

    Brother, thank you. I used this today, step by step, (although my belt was still intact) to replace my pump. Top notch!

    To purge the air I believe the FSM says to raise front and turn the wheels lock to lock 10 times without starting the vehicle. Then you check fluid and start engine.

    To bleed the system you just put it in the air turn it on and turn the wheels back and fourth a couple times correct? Then shut it off and let the air come out then it should be good?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, some of these dodge pumps you may have to use vacuum to the reservoir also with the vehicle off in order to get all the air out. They are picky sometimes in my experience

    I have the 2000 Dodge Durango 5.9….is it the same process as this video? My reservoir isn’t plastic it’s I think like rusted out aluminum. How would I know if it’s my steering pump that failed or my rack and pinion?

    I seen you used ATF +4 transmission fluid. Is ATF +4 transmission fluid what's recommend to fill the power steering?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this vehicle atf+4 is what it calls for for the power steering

    • @brianthomas4736
      @brianthomas4736 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's transmission fluid or power steering fluid

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Atf+4 is trans fluid, which for this model and year is for the power steering fluid

    Hello..do you know the part number of the o ring and the other little gasket?becuase my power steering pum is good is just leaking from the joint between the pump and the receivor.

    Let's say the Seals on the Pump is bad only.. Is there a Rebuild kit for the pump..?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Technically im sure it can be done, ive never rebuilt ps pump internally, for the price of the new or rebuilt aftermarket pump nowadays is usually pretty inexpensive and usually has a lifetime warranty.
      if your leak is from the actual pump itself i would change it, if its leaking from a oring like from the fluid reservoir to pump, or from a pressure line to pump oring you can change thise out if you like.

    Dont suppose the bolts are in same location on an 07 as they are on 2000-04?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe its similar design but possibly not exact. I do know the ps pump on a 07 still has the 3 main bolt design behind the pulley that connect the ps pump to the engine. If i had a 07 here i would check for you lol

      FixItPhillip yeah there’s hardly anything on 3rd gen Dakotas on here, mines got that getrag238 in it and I had to do the clutch no vidyaos on doin a clutch on one these trucks but it’s straightforward enough as if it’s any other manual transmission... joined a group of 3rd gen Dakota n them guys that do their own work or post issues with theirs would be great to be slapped up on TH-cam as well... I have always been a fan of these little trucks even though they have problematic, take that back my 3rd gen has been problematic vs the 1st gen and 2nd gens I have owned. Would have been nice to get some aftermarket parts for these trucks too they been out long enough
