HI Sir this is my first time watching your channel and sir you solved my problem just in 11 minutes. thanks for the wonderful trick that`s makes my work so easy thank you .....
I like your style of explanation. You focus on the big picture while still telling us exactly what keystrokes you’re using. I feel like most tutorials are either too specific (like following a recipe) or too general (only introduces the concept) so good job striking that balance 👏
Easier, faster way to duplicate your initial pattern sideways or horizontally is to duplicate with ctrl+d, vert snap your pivot, move it over, and then just hit shift+d as many times as you want to extend it as far as you want. Then you just combine everything. This takes seconds, vs figuring out the transform values and typing anything in.
cool techniques, learned alot! i want to make the pattern into an object that is more complex than a cylinder :) right now specifically i want to make the number 8, in this same mesh style, but come short of skills. Im thinking something like making the 8 as a curve, then extrude a cylinder onto it and somehow get the mesh onto that, or maybe have the mesh on a long tube, and somehow make that tube bend itself into the shape of curve(but curves fundamentally sux in maya so propably not)
man can you do an indepth video on the best tehniques for adding thickness with Maya for more complex models (by ways of extruding, scale cloning, duplicating faces) since it doesnt have a dedicated tool like Max shell or Blender solidify.
Thank you for the awesome tutorial. Also, what is the next step to paint it in Substance?? you create UVs for this high poly model, or you create low poly and make UV for it? If you use low poly, I am not sure that holes will appear in the Substance.
Mr Mussi,if this repeatable shape need uv, how we do it(for example the engine i use not so good at shadow, a lot of shadow still depend on AO baking, and that repeat thing is a building instead of a small object...)..
.. Yet another great tutorial JL! I had a slight issue when I used the bend deformer... with curvature set to 180 it didn't close the pattern to complete cylinder. Is this due to the length of the pattern or is there something wrong? I had to set it to 183 to close it up but can't be sure it's a perfect - vertex to vertex precision closed cylinder. Thanks for any advise.
When I insert number of axis Y in Duplicate special Panel, the copies're stacked on each others, but it's work when I copy the number and paste. Can u guys explain for me pls?!
Does Maya have a follow me tool like in Sketchup? the Sketchup follow me tool auto builds some really interesting shapes that serve as really good starts for scenery.
Great tut but process is too long and frustrating compare to 3ds max or blender tools. I like everything about maya, but maya lacks of some selection and pattern tools. Theres no adjacent selection(select every other face) tool dude wtf?
The intro where you say "in the video coming up" is pretty useless and redundant. We saw the thumbnail and the title of the video. We know what we clicked on, no need to tell us again.

JL, I honestly want more people to see your videos. You are a great teacher and a selfless human being. Thank you for this!!!
i think i learned 10 things more in this video than what i originally came to learn. well done! 😊
Finally a 3D tutor who’s entertaining and makes it seem more playful than the same ol procedural outdrawn ”drag verti here” bullshit.
Nice one man! Consise and straight to the point got to get me one of your shirt for my upcoming birthday
HI Sir

Thank you very much man. Your workflow is very clean LOVE IT!
You're the best JL..thx buddy
hello! again a lots of great tricks... to translate and copy/paste into duplicate , wow a great one, logical and simple! keep on modeling beast!
Maaaaan! This is SUPER COOOOOL!!!
Thank you sir....that deform trick is gonna save a hell lot of time and make things look nice and even too 🙏🏻
Great video, very useful info presented in a clear and concise manner =D
Awesome dude, thanks for the great content.
More videos like this!
Very nicely done.
this was excellent thanks man!!
This was very helpful, thank you .

U r a excellent guy....🤙🏻👌🏻
You did good
Thankyou bro🗿❤️
Do you know how or have a video on making a pattern of spikes on a sphere like a Morning Star mace? I need Hope on modeling the spikes on a sphere.
Thanks for it.

awasome
I tried shift+Ctrl+RMB but I can't find the smart Extrude option.... can you please help me

thankss duuuddde this would help modelling the mac cpu XD
WOW! WOW! WOW!
your a god man
I teach better than my College professor 🙂..
nice sir
ty
how to do this with Maya 2015?
If you want a real challenge, try fitting a honeycomb pattern into a square so that you can bake a tiling pattern. It's harder than it sounds.
Hello, l think that you do some absolutely wonderful stuff. Would you be available to create some 3d models for me?
Does Maya have a follow me tool like in Sketchup?

what up teach how have you been still waiting for you to mail me that apocalypse bust that you brought to class.
that you ave to delete history to apply changes is so weird with maya
Note for me

That was the most important thing you took out of the video? The intro? Bro!
