You can only take one Mac app to a desert island. Which one is it?
Books.
TH-cam to watch your reviews 😂
iTunes.
Terminal, of course
Messages, so I can tell people where I am to get off the island
I'm totally over subscription based apps. As soon as I see that is the only option its off the list.
Agreed
Even car features are going to subscription based. You want to remotely start you car, have your nav search for the local Big Box store etc? Cough up the monthly fee.
Ridiculous, I keep away from subscription based apps too.
Agree with you
Yeah, especially when something like a calendar app charges astronomical amounts. I try and use the built in apps where possible as they have become a lot more functional. Apple calendar supports natural language and it’s quite good.
This is great information. Keep sharing. Thank you.
What’s the benefit of roboform over apple Keychain?
Possibly the sections to include license codes, financial info, etc.?
8:30 You forgot to mention, that beeper is in a closed beta. I applied months ago, but still wasn't granted access yet.
Hi Mark, thanks for another great video. I’ve used (or still use) most of the apps you mentioned. Beeper I didn’t know, sounds interesting. Craft is my favourite note taking app. It looks great, is easy to use and offers a ton of options to create a great PKM system.
I did use Spark for awhile, but I’m a student and it wouldn’t let me sign into my student email while Apple Mail did.
I use almost all of the Mac apps you listed, but also Drafts, Raycast, Paste, Cleanshot among others.
Great video. Would love to use Fantastical but refuse to pay a subscription. Where do you get those grey and black squares you have in the background and on desk??
Same it’s not worth
I am intrigued by Beeper. Will check it out. Thank you. Luv your vids.
Thank you! And I reckon you’ll like it 👍
Hi Mark. Have a question, do you know how power hungry is Beeper? Are even more compared to Sidkick? Don't know if. You know that one? Thank you.
Would anyone know of Mac software that will format and copy files to multiple usb drives at once?
I've got to do 200 with 14 at a time
I’ve been using Spark for a while now and it’s a beast. The baked-in AI is getting really good too.
at the beginning of each app intro you should say if they are a paid app and how much
I use pdf editors and pdf scanning apps all the time. Different ones on my iPad than my iMac since I bought the apps at different times.
Love the video! But I love the t shirt more!! Old school rave🙂. RIP Keith 😔
Beeper looks interesting, thanks!
Pleasure!
MacWhisper - Privately transcribe text from video and audio files. Supports multiple languages. If needed, it will also very quickly translate the transcribed text from one language to another. There is a free version and an inexpensive pro version.
Is that a Prodigy shirt? Now that's awesome!
It is indeed!
I love Morgen. It's Things 3 + Fantastical combined in one app
Why these two? Which devices do you use?
I use Word to write blog posts 😭 Never thought ther might be an app for that.
The Prodigy! 🤟 I'll see myself out.
Thanks bro
No problem!
I love your videos, however the cuts to the camera behind the camera are always jarring for me completely takes me out of the focus of the video. Not sure why but thought I'd mention it.
You have invitation code to bepper?
It’s Marks view on writing apps which interests me most in this video as this seems to be a bit more of a category than a specific app. First he tells us to use word, then he says don’t use it. I get that people have too much of a reliance on word when there are often cheaper and better alternatives available. I get that Ulysses has its appeal to certain audiences because of its clean interface, but it’s pointless for me to use since it’s subscription based and I wouldn’t get value for money from using it. But my question then is if he isn’t recommending word, why isn’t he discussing apples own pages or another even another alternative? There’s more functionality in pages than some people realise while overall having a relatively clean look
I think it's pretty clear that I'm NOT recommending Word in this one 😉 Ulysses is simply the app that works for me. It definitely isn't for everyone.
Word, and Pages, are word processors. They are for formatting your text more than anything else (of course you can write with them if you want). Writing apps strip most of the interface away to allow you to just write. Many who write for a living don't want to wrestle with a word processor and prefer either a writing app that is streamlined, or something that is to tailored to their specific needs. I used to like using Word to write, but after experiencing Scrivener, iA Writer, and other writing apps, it feels cumbersome to go back to a word processor and write. I will now usually just paste the text I have into them and do the formatting.
your t-shirt is nice.. R.I.P Keith Flint..
Beeper look interesting😊
I'd never transfer and store my passwords in a cloud webservice. For me, only self-hosted solutions are an option.
My whole life is in Apple Notes.
Raycast for…..well….everything
macgpt rocks!
X (not a kiss- gentle nudge that the blue bird is toast...)
I thought you was a cleanmyMac & 1Password kinda Dude~~
Who has Beeper Invites ?
I hate myself for saying this but first!
Except somebody beat you to the punch 6 minutes prior. You get a like for the effort though. 😉
MacGPT
Most of these apps (if not all) are monthly payments only
Correct.
I'm a lover not a hater btw...
I think you missed youtube that i watch daily😂
9th Like!
Boom!
Im sick of subscriptions
Love this!! Can you please invite me to Beeper? Thanks
