    2010 Marques de Murrieta (Rioja) is probably the best wine I've ever tasted under $250 and I paid $30 for it when it was available.

    I love Rioja too. Also in Spain, consider Ribera del Duero for tempranillo (I like Valderiz 2019) and Monsant, neighboring Priorat, for Garnatxa blend (Venus la Universal Dido 2019).

    Great approachable content 👍🏻
    Go to producer is Beronia - bit more of a modern style as they are fairly full bodied but retain those classic Rioja notes. The 2015 Reserva is unbelievable QPR.
    Keep it up!

      Thank you for the rec! I've seen Beronia riojas but I don't think I've tried one. Next time!!

    Honestly I'll watch any informative video about wine you put out haha but personnally I find lesser known countries very interesting the wine is often just as good or better when you break it down $ by $.
    Also a video idea maybe something like Alternatives to "Insert type of wine". Alternatives for Bordeaux, Alternatives for Cabernet Sauvignon, Alternatives for Chardonnay etc...
    Cheers

    Hey viv, when using the Coravin dont hold the button down, give it a couple of taps and let go. The wine should pour out. Btw bought the Coravin because of your last video!

    People don’t like La Rioja Alto, Faustino I Gran Reserva?

    • @TheSommNextDoor
      @TheSommNextDoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there will always people who like the classic taste but Faustino is also making modern style riojas with less oak and more fruit-focused wines (tempranillo from alavesa & garnacha from oriental) to gain a larger audience.

      @@TheSommNextDoor I like the classic wines. Most regions are using French oak so it’s nice to get something different.

    First learn how to pronounce it: the “o” is soft like “on”, not Rio in Brazil. The j is that back-of-the-throat h-sound like you’re coughing. Nicely rolled “r” though.
