  • Today's Vivian Wine Lesson is on Burgundy France. There's a lot to unpack here. Burgundy is one of the most complicated and expensive wine regions in the world. Can you find good cheap Burgundy Wines? Does that exist? We're going to discuss where to look and how to buy good Burgundy wines without hurting your wallet.
But before we can do that, I'm going to do a brief overview of Burgundy and why this French Wine Region is so expensive (and complicated). What is Grand Cru vs Premier Cru?
I'll share with you my tips and guide you on on how to buy bargain Burgundy wines.
And we'll do a bit of wine tasting and wine pairing tips
Today I'm drinking a 2018 Les Charmes Macon-Lugny Chardonnay for $14.99 (White WIne)
2009 Louis Chenu Savigny Aux Clos 1er Cru Pinot Noir for $49.99 (Red Wine)

    01:18 Burgundy Overview
03:54 Where to Find Bargain Burgundy Wines
    06:07 Wine Tasting
07:30 Tips on How to Buy
Let me know if you guys want a more in depth lesson on Burgundy wines and other topics you want me to cover.
    Cheers!

hi vivian! just subscribed! i am glad i found your channel :) you mentioned "producer" in the video and lately after studying more wine the word "producer" is literally confusing me. Are producers literally the WINE MAKERS that do all the bottling and final touches? if so, is it safe to say whenever the word "domaine" is on a label- are they the "producers"? Thank you!

I think Pinot Noir is more forgiving when drunk young. Some Burgogne Pinot Noirs are made fruity and meant to drunk young.

Yes Burgundy wines can be drunk young (1-3 years) which is good because usually I can't wait too long

I'm not quite sure what brand but the large bowl is great for aromatic wines like Burgundy

More in depth, please. Volnay Premier Crus and Chambolle Musigny, please. Beaune and Savigny wouldn’t be bad, either.

Interesting video. I wouldn't hold the bottom of the glass (would hold the stem instead) as it would "warm" the wine

Can you make a thorough critique of each of the famous wine critics, like Rob Parker, Janice, Vinous, Suckling, etc. Just curious what they like and what they don't like
