    Brilliant and captivating video. Too many TH-camrs use there channels to make themselves the focus of the content... which probably works for younger viewers. But for serious minded viewers this understated delivery is perfect. I did an imaginary jump for joy when, at the 58 minute mark, the app worked as it should! 😆 This long video was more entertaining and useful than the last ten movies I have watched!

    Don't expect this to give you Hollywood production quality but it is definitely more than good enough to show your insurance or show the police exactly what happened during an accident and prove that a car merged into your lane or cut in front of you without warning. Without video evidence in motorcycle accidents they always blame speed as a factor and put you at least partially at fault.

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The BluSky is 1080P only. As of right now, there are no 4K cameras where the 4K camera module is separate from the DVR - as far as I know. I suspect this is because the camera has to do a lot of processing and the data rate is high.

      @@GoldwingDocs Just to let you know fix plexi glass in front of your lens I've used my cam system for over 12000 miles already have rock chips on glass lens unlike your model you have to replace the whole unit my suggestion is that big camera box needs to go to the rear of the bike easier cheaper if you have to replace replace the cam lens camera unit. What is your sim card you can use the Blue ski uses a 128GB A1 not cheap but can hold around 9 hours of recording at interval recordings at 5mins 111 clips of 5 mins long total 222 slides. Just to let you know I had caught some great footage so far. Some close calls I had from idiots. Not to mention my welding ability on a cooler caddy I built for a 39CI Igloo cooler it started to fall apart after using it for years the cover flew off first watched cars dodge it then the steel rack started to come apart seen steel flat bar falling onto road then the cooler went sliding bye bye if there been no wind it would of went right into the bumper of a Simi truck it just slid to the right side of the rode hit the edge of emergency lane and dust like it exploded... Also caught a Rock slide just 8 vehicles whom like emergency stopped on road.

    I just bought the K5 and I’m a tech guy and while I love it the design is a little on the poor side. The cables coming off of the front camera should be long enough to run toward the middle or back of the bike. This may not be an issue for bigger bikes (touring) but depending on your sport bike you may have some wires showing. I installed this on my 1290 Super Duke GT and it came out nice. INNOVV we need longer cables going backwards not towards the front. We need a section in the manual or online explaining every setting in the app and we will be golden. I’m ok with the size of the front unit but the cables ugh

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with all your points, and in fact I mentioned the cable length a couple of times in this video. The app could really have to do with some more documentation as to the functions in it.

    • @josephschultz
      @josephschultz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes Great idea but now everything is on the front and you need to do some cable management to make it look decent. With everything in front in crash will it get destroyed and lose footage because of DVR damage? just curious as if box was in middle of bike would be harder to damage DVR box, again just curious

  • @Coldgecko
    @Coldgecko 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Seems like the camera system is def suited for B-roll shooting. I have 2 BMW Adventure bikes that I tour around the world and would love to outfit it with this but thats a ton of doe for an emergency camera. If it was a GoPro replacement with less banding and a much higher bit rate it would be a dunk -- I. would absolutely do it without a thought about money if it could replace my GoPro as well. I get it that the intensions are different -- the K5 vs GoPro -- but with one more evolutionary upgrade -- it could be there and offer both benefits -- a great tour capturing vlog action camera and an emergency camera. What is your thoughts on that?

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does have one higher bitrate, which I will likely try to see how the banding and artifacts are affected. High bitrate 4K videos are unwieldy however! I'm hoping to use it for exactly that - vlog and emergency.

      @jaredfowler2431 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason the dvr is part of the front camera is the 4k video won’t do well with a long cable going from the sensor to the dvr so it’s all built into one unit

    • @RanGer-498
      @RanGer-498 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaredfowler2431 Since 4K requires a lot of bandwidth, most not all cables cannot transfer the resolution over distances of more than three meters. 9'10" if you put it in the center of the bike that about 4' long and should be more than apposite for the task. It doesn't have a compass in it - that's not how GPS navigation works - so it will work fine no matter how you position it. As long as the top of it is pointing up and has an unobscured view of the sky, it will work fine.

    Great instruction!
    I have a need for a front and rear camera and this is the unit I'll purchase. As I carry my laptop for distance trips, I have a tip from my trucking days; " for police I've carried extra flash drives to download just the video they need"! Getting video cards back from police and insurance has always been a hassle.
    and flash drives are cheap!
    I just bought an 06 GL1800 and my mounting may require drilling to hide the cameras.
    My question pertains to lenses. I've run dash cams, but now this unit will be out in the elements. Does anyone have a suggestion to protect and clean the lens? Thank You in advance.
    You all are in my prayers

    Looking better those Motorcycle cameras. But not going to invest in something like this before Bitrate goes up A LOT more and 4k 60fps front and back.I am saying that I want that option on a motorcycle camera system like this to use 4k 60fps if I wanted to. But this is limited to 4k 30fps with too low bitrate and only full HD in the back with extremely low bitrate..Not good enough. If I am going on a road trip or something I want good looking video with high quality with 60 fps and high bitrate.

    The app should use Bluetooth. Too many bugs in the app to recommend. DVR should not be in a camera. Improved the system in the wrong areas.

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are technical reasons for what they did.
      1. Bluetooth is FAR too slow to do transfers of video from the camera to the phone. For 4K video, it would take hours to transfer just a few minutes of video. That's why pretty much ALL video camera management apps for modern cameras nowadays use Wifi.
      2. The bandwidth of 4K video presents some real challenges in transmitting the video reliably to a remote DVR. I agree, it's not idea to have the DVR in the camera.
      3. The app did have a few bugs originally, but it is remarkably reliable and stable today.

    • @GoldwingDocs
      @GoldwingDocs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a lot more than an action camera, obviously. It records front and rear, and is a parking monitor camera as well - neither of which you will get with a helmet-mounted camera. You also don't have to worry about charging batteries or batteries running out, or remembering to hit "record" or anything else - you just ride, and it works automatically.

    • @bb1040
      @bb1040 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GoldwingDocs I have a USP power plug on my bike so just plug in the camera and don't have to worry about the battery running down, I also plug my GPS into it, as far as all that other stuff, I have no need for it. I can move the camera from vehicle to vehicle, with no problem, and I can take it with me when I leave the vehicle and keep taking video, and really don't understand what I would need a parking monitor camera on a motorcycle for. But there are a lot of people out there that like to have all these toys, so I would say, you will sell a lot of them to people who have the money to spend on them. Have a great day stay well and enjoy the ride, I will. as soon as it stops snowing LOL
