I am clsoing in on one year with my bike as well. I am only one mile from work so my bike just hit 1200 miles. I am totally in love with it except for my but getting numb after about 45 minutes of riding. I have no issues cursing at 80MPH, I was burning a little oil but that seems to have stopped. I am in love with ridging it up and down the mountains around Idaho Falls because all I have to do is let off the throttle and 5% downgrades require no down shifting to hold 50-55MPH. I have decided that I like going down the steeper graids much better on my Super Meteor than I do with my manual transmission Toyota Tacoma or my wife's automatic transmission 4runner.
Sounds idilic. And yes, agreed, the engine braking is superb. On most corners I never had to touch the brakes. From 80kg h to 50kph in seconds. Corners well. As for the but issue, that is a problem. I am trialing some seats in the next couple of videos 🙏
PS Teacher T. I've ridden the Kawasaki 650 Volcan and the mono shock is far superior than my RE650. I've also ridden as a passenger on both bikes. For bum and back comfort my Super Meteor wins out ever time 😊.
The touring seat is fitted to my celestial blue SM 650. It is comfortable; however, the rear shocks were still terrible and were changed for Hagon shocks.
I e ordered the touring seat. I plan a long tour from the North of Thailand all the way down to the South in October when my school closes for 2 weeks. Let’s see how that goes 😂🙏
My mrs loves the touring seat so defo worth a try with mrs T. I’ll be doing what you said and swapping the touring seat with the standard and rear rack when she’s not coming along, shouldn’t take more that 10 mins I think
Ideal. I’ve ordered the touring seat and back rest. Not in stock of course. 😂 Looking forward to fitting and a review from Mrs T. Planning a long road trip in October 🙏
Also a testament to your riding skills 👍 watching this video riding in conditioning like this, as you say, is an insight as to how good the Mighty Meaty handled it, took it all in its stride. I love seeing bikes that get used. Second hand market in GB. is full off ten year old bikes with less than 10K miles. Tripmachine bags look great to, really suite the bike. Also after seeing this, I’ll never moan about the English weather again 🤭😂
She certainly gets used every day, Rain or shine. And it's not always blue skies and sunshine in Thailand. A bit like Cornwall in the winter at the moment 😂🙏
Love your video, seem like The Cocoa Tree Garden is a lovely place to go when I have a chance to visit Thailand. 😁 It must be very challenging riding in such heavy rain. muddy with many pot holes. My SM do come with the touring seat, however replacing the rear suspension do change the comfort significantly and it does extend the endurance of the butt especially during long hours riding. 🤣
Yes I found my butt experienced problems in my first week of ownership. 😂 The road from Cocoa to 118 Chiang Rai is an excellent quiet cruising road with lovely views and corners. Hopefully no rain when you visit 👌🙏
We nearly did t go. But the weather in Chiang Mai was perfect and the ride home at the end of the video was fantastic. Until we hit the rains again lol 🙏
As I have said previously to you, I find my touring seat very comfortable indeed, and I believe that it's a case of comfort over looks, although I'm very happy with the look
Thanks teacher t for yet another great video. I have the touring seat and it’s the best seat I have sat on. Like yourself I’ve been riding for 45 years. I love the look of my seat and sissy bar but to have the GIVI top box the sissy bar has to go. Where did you purchase your side pannier bars from as I think the soft leather panniers look far nicer than the hard panniers. Thanks again ! 😊 so glad to see you both get home safely.

Thanks for your videos, I want a Super Meteor so bad I can taste it, but wife has put her foot down on motorcycles. At least I can go on imaginary rides with you. Yes do a saddle change video for us!
Having bought the Celestial and then converting to the solo seat, i do have to say the touring couch is more comfortable on a long ride. I did still use an air hawk seat cushion though. Also, having riden with both seats before adding yss shocks, the difference in shocker quality/ride/handling and general comfort is astounding. I no longer get the sudden jolt/teeth rattling/jolt down my spine when hitting a bump at 80-110 kph. Also, i think one of the main factors of people having a difference of opinions on comfort comes down to body type. Im 6'2" and 130kg so im getting a different experience than someone who is 5'5" and 70kg.
Well I’m 5’8” and 80kg. I can assure you the same spine pain is felt by me, from day one of owning the bike. But some say it’s ok. I do wonder if different batches of suspension unit were fitted? Now you are putting me off buying the touring seat lol 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand the touring seat is definitely more comfortable on a long ride. Gives you the option to move your posterior about a little more. About town, its not that noticable.
Thank you again for a great and wet video😂Mr. T I’m not going to change my seat as I only ride alone - but would love to see you change into it and how fast you can change it back again sometime and as always keep the videos coming.
I would definitely recommend the RE touring seat with back rest Teacher T 👍. Your wife will love that on a long run. No complaints from my pillion passengers, so far! Enjoyable vid and the destination looked wonderful, as too did the group ride. So in the next one, how to deep clean the 650 Super Meteor perhaps 😂🤘. Safe cruising till next time ...
Ha ha. Many thanks. Yes I think the touring seat and back rest is on the list. It will hang on the garage wall most of the time I”m sure, but would love to experience the difference. Bike sparkling already 🙏
For what it's worth I have been riding a 2024 650 Super Meteor recently. It's seat configuration is the same as your SM and I found its much harder on the bum as rider and passenger. Plus even at slower speeds my bottom is often lifted off the seat more than mine with the touring seat riding UK crap roads. Hence my suggestion to you. And we both agreed new rear suspension before Christmas is the way forward!
Thank you. I e out 10,000 Km on the original CEAT tyres now. Still plenty of life left in them yet. They grip the road well. But the recommended three pressures are high, and I do wonder if this causes a stiffer ride? But at the moment all is good. Peru. Wonderful 🙏

The touring seat makes quite a difference indeed. I have the Astral black variant with the stock suspension. I've cranked the pre-load of the stock suspension up to 5. It made a lot of difference. However, when I rode a friend's bike (celestial blue) with the touring seat, and stock preload setting, it felt much better. I also noticed the touring seat to be much narrower than the stock seat. The stock suspension is a baffler. But when I was on preload 1 and bumpy Thai roads, every major bump would nearly break my spine due to the units bottoming out. Raising the preload will stop this, but then makes the overall ride much harder. I gave up in the end. But I must try the touring seat 🙏
