4K CABVIEW Subotica - Sombor - Bogojevo -- breakdown railroad crossings (from RS/HU to RS/HR border)

- The Subotica - Bogojevo - Erdut (HR) is one of branch lines of main railway corridor between Subotica and Novi Sad in northern Serbia. It connects two significant northern Bačka cities, Subotica and Sombor. That line is also a railway connection between Serbia and Croatia and is one of the two railway connections between these two countries. This line is served by several passenger trains. There are a few freight trains, mostly direct trains in transit between Vojvodina and Croatia, as well as between Hungary and Croatia.
Railway stations, station tracks, rail buildings, signalling and other infrastructure along the line date from the Austro-Hungarian period. There are a lot of industrial buildings, industrial tracks and the former goods freight operations along the railway. Today, this huge industry is not used, it does not serve the purpose and most of the railway stations are neglected. Along the line, after Subotica, the largest station is Sombor which is a small railway junction for several directions.
Due to frequent alienation, failures and destructions of railway signaling equipment, there are a large number of unsafed railroad level crossings along the line. In front of each breakdown railroad crossing the train stops and carefully crosses it. This prolongs the travel time and makes the train ride much more dynamic and unsafe. The track infrastructure allows a maximum speed of 80km/h, but because of the poor track switches condition the ride is done with limited speeds of 20km/h and 30km/h through all stations.
The recording was done from a diesel motor unit passenger train, Serbian Railways series 711.

Trains are amazing; I still love them. Traveling by train means seeing nature, people, cities and churches, rivers - in essence it is a journey through life.
And I as a child in the late fifties and sixties, Irealised this quickly. As Marples Went on His Merrry Way Wrecking Britains Railway System in the Mid Sixties.(Intrepid Tax Dodger for Thirty Years, Proven ! and other shady dealings). Beeching was his fall guy. appointed By The Minister at twice the salary of his predisessor,who was an ex general and assisted in getting Europes Railways back on their feet after the war. Beechig knew nothing of railways nor Marples and both cared even less.
not sure if most people know, but in the 1970s, this line used to carry an overnight train from Subotica to Rijeka, and at Bogojevo it attached more passenger cars from Novi Sad. this train even had a car coming from Bucharest.
but unfourtunately i doubt this line is so important nowdays.

And, there is an unused track between the Budapest and Sombor lines... that was formerly a track to Baja, Hungary, and more recently, to the factory "Zorka". I'm sure you know all the details! pa naravno dok su drugi gradili i napredovali mi smo ratovali. bili pid sankcijama ,bombardivani i svasta nesto i sta se cudis .Izgubljenih 30 godina nije lako nadoknaditi ,ali izgleda da polako ide na bolje .
That was a busy railway back to 1970-1990`s. In that days a 24-28 trains run there every day, most of them was full with goods. But today, this is what you see on video.

I live at the first crossing from the station in Subotica where this starts...usually we wait 15-30 minutes to train pass...idk why they put the crossing gate so early but we all hate it.

Sad to see in which bad condition the infrastructur is... i hope there will be a good future for the railway transport, but this is hard to belive...
They should decide if they want a jungle or a railway track. They have people employed for lowering gates at road crosses but not have for the machine to cut the bushes, grass and trees around the track
In the UK they don't even have crossings now' people don't stop for them anymore,they'd rather get to their destination badly f - - - - - up or DEAD !
From a UK point of view this line look lethal from end to end!

"Railroad closing devices are failure" would be better said as "Railway crossing boom gates out of order". So much of the infrastructure in a state of disrepair! But other than that it is always very pleasant to watch your railway videos of very high quality. I am always checking for more.

Thank you for this interesting cab ride. The signals in Sebesic seemed to show a stop - why die you pass them? Why did the railroad crossing barriers notbwork?
Because a lot of these stations are not attended and no one to operate signals, so train drivers are instructed to pass signals at danger.
Plus i also imagine that the level crossings are not maintained at all. In Romania, we used to have such level crossings with small wooden half-barriers, but when the mechanysm stopped working we just removed the barriers and the lights kept working lmao
@@bumerangsydney They do that in Britain when the stations and signals are attended mate. They skip stations as well on management orders. You probably have that to look forward to. Its what happens when crooks,coke heads and smack heads obsessed with money drugs and sex end up running everything.

Why do trains stop at crossings? Other countries also have loads of unstaffed, no-barrier crossings and not a single other country uses this system.
Same procedure in Austria. If a crossing is normally protected by some technical device (gates, lights) and they don't work, dispatcher gives a written order to the engineer ( in Austria called V-Befehl, roughly translated a "Caution Order". The Train has to stop in front of the crossing, whistle, and then proceed if it is safe to do so. If these failures are for longer time, like I would expect in this case, the orders are printed in a little booklet, which is published normally one or two times a month. The engineer would find all important things in it, like faulty crossings, unscheduled vmax reductions, invalid signals (notice that the engineer passes the old austrian semaphore signals at danger!) and so on. In this case, a written order, given by the dispatcher, is not needed anymore. Of course I don't know about the exact situation in Serbia, but I would guess they have quite similar rules and regulations as we in Austria.

This sadly happens when i drive my bike on the road in south Serbia, but it's dogs that have owners that bark and chase after me untill they get tired and go back to their owners house. One time i almost fell when one of them got really near my bike. Sometimes they hear my bike and go on the middle of a highway to try to intercept me, like wtf..
