    Finally someone who talks about gym workouts in the video, and that shows it on the wrist! Good review man! Thank you!

    Awesome review. Extremely helpful!
    I've been agonising over the last few days about my purchase of the Epix. I wanted the nice screen, but I have other smart watches, all about the same size as the Epix, and really wanted the 7x size. Your wrist is millimetres smaller than mine, with the same flatness. It looks great on your wrist, so I've cancelled the Epix order and will pickup a 7x tomorrow!
    Thank again for the very informative review!!!

    I think if you use a speed sensor the auto pause issue goes away. GPS speed always lags and as it wanders you can sometimes have the auto pause unpause randomly.

    I'm debating constantly between getting an Epix Gen 2 47mm Sapphire vs Fenix 7x Sapphire. They seem so similar, only difference being MIP vs AMOLED, the former having more battery life (but not too big a deal as I don't mind charging once weekly). Then there's the flashlight on the 7x which would be useful.

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a hard choice as they are both good!
      Me, I am bias to the 7x as it’s the one I have. Here are my reasons.
      1. The light is honestly way more useful that you would ever realise. Its takes a few weeks to start using it a lot but you end up doing so.
      2. The battery life is incredible. When it says a week for the epix, that’s without using gps. With daily use it probably goes down to 4-5 days (still far better than any Apple Watch)
      It just feels so good never having to think about the battery.
      3. Screen. The screen is more than good enough on the 7x. Responsive and visible and it does still look good. The epix does look far superior but the watch is there for purely information purposes. After 4 weeks it won’t bother you that the screen has a bit more detail or is a bit smoother with scrolling.
      I hope that helps a bit. As I said my own bias is in there.

      @@cyclingunboxed Thanks for your feedback! Point of reference for costs, Fenix 7x Sapphire Solar 51mm is GBP 580. I paid GBP 494 for the Epix Gen 2 Sapphire 47mm (still within Amazon 30 day return window). It's a whopping 915 GBP to get a Epix Pro Sapphrie 47mm. GBP 494 for the non pro a nice deal on Amazon. Fenix 7x is on sale too, in some ways equivalent to the Epix Pro, but MIB vs AMOLED. So, essentially the compromise I need to make is MIB vs AMOLED (I want the flashlight ;)
      It'visuals
      I suppose I should note that my first Garmin device was a Venu from 2020, so I'm already 'used to' an LED screen at least.
      1) Yes, agreed. I've put a lot of thought into that and know this would be something I use daily. Plus I do run at night quite often (only time I get free time) and begin mountain scrambles before sunrise (headlamp essential for that anyway, but the watch light would supplement that nicely).
      2) It being the dead of winter I haven't used GPS on the Epix too much, and I don't use 'Always On' ever. Since I work a deskjob, I am ok with plugging in the Epix once per week or so. I would be using GPS more often later on into the year, so could be more of a factor I suppose.
      3) That is reassuring to hear, as mentioned I need to stop watching comparison videos as the AMOLED wins every time, but from a practicality stand point that probably doesn't matter too much.
      I have more or less surmised that the Epix Pro would be the absolute best case scenario for me, BUT it's way WAY more money than I am ever going to be comfortable paying, unless inflation and interest rates drop and I have a sudden new flow of income ;) lol.
      Thanks again for your feedback and I'll look forward to seeing more of your content here.

    While running at night with Cadence mode (red + white flashlight) have you see the the HR/Cadence/Steps stops working (e.g. cadence stays at 150 no matter what/HR drops to 50/steps are no longer being counted)? I have only see that problem with Cadence mode, however blinking mode with the white light works just fine.

      To be fair a watch face doesn’t have much surface area so I think it’s tough for them to really get that much out of it. You do need to spend hours and hours per day to really notice a difference I think. Probably a technology that will keep getting better I think so worth developing now.

    Hello! I bought a Garmin Phoenix 7X watch. When choosing strength training during a workout, the watch does not count active calories. Also, in general, daily calories are not counted. Now the average figure reaches 2700, although before that there was a Phoenix 5X watch and with the same daily activity, 3200+ came out, which is more like the truth, since I go through more than 10,000 steps a day, plus strength training 4-5 times a week. How can I have only 250-350 active calories with this mode? I dug up almost all the functions in the watch, reset it to factory settings, but the result is the same - the watch does not count calories during training (at the same time, when choosing Walking, calories are counted). Please help me solve this problem. Thank you in advance!

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried to edit your screen layouts so it shows when working out? I don’t have calories on my watch face when doing any activities but when uploaded to garmin connect it shows it on the second screen of the workout for me. Does it do this for you?
      My active calories when just walking at work do seem to be added to my total. If there is an issue I think it may be worth contacting garmin.

      @@cyclingunboxed Hi! Finally I found a problem. I have a tattoo on my sleeves and this was the reason that the updated optical sensor on 7X does not penetrate black ink. there was no such problem on my last 5X watch. but in this version, Garmin "improved" the sensor and now I can't wear them on my wrists...

    Do you still have this watch? I was thinking about grabbing one used. I currently have Epix pro 51mm. I find it annoying to exaggerate my wrist gesture in bright sunlight to see the screen. I go hiking several times a year above tree line so I’m wondering if this would be better outdoors and I don’t have to worry about turning my wrist enough to get it bright.

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, still using it day in/ day out. And no issues at all.
      Certainly doesn’t have that problem because of the type of screen. The more light the easier it is to see. If you can, I think it would be worth the swap for your use case.

    What do you think about 7X and Tactix delta?

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the older delta or the newer tactix 7?
      For me it more depends on what you like the look of. I know they are pretty much the same size and same software
      I think the Fenix has a much more versatile style. When you are doing sports, it looks like a sports watch. When you are wearing a suit it sits in quietly. I find I don’t need to swap to a nice analogue watch any more.
      With the tactix I think it always looks like you are wearing an army watch no matter what.

  • @monoplastzeljo2582

    The fenix 7x sapphire solar watch has a major drawback, the screen in the menu as well as the messages that arrive when the phone is connected to the watch are set to black background and pale blue text (due to the poor finish of the sapphire glass, there is no white color, but pale blue color) and that text is hard to read. There is no option like on older models of garmin watches to change the background to be white or pale gray and the text to be black, which would be more legible. (Inverter color or display color setting). As soon as you sweat a little around your eyes during activities, you can't see clearly, or if you have a smaller (+ eye diopter) for reading, which most people over 40 have the same problem, you strain to read what is written on the screen. Otherwise, the watch is excellently made, but this problem with the screen and the lack of an option to set the background to be white or gray and the text to be black, which is more pleasant and legible for the eye, makes the garmin fenix 7x sapphire solar watch unusable for many people and if not documents in some software update the watch is a complete and utter failure. I found a lot of the same comments in several forums which says that the problem is not innocuous.

    • @cyclingunboxed
      @cyclingunboxed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I can’t say that I personally have noticed this. It has always been easy enough for me to read no matter what but like you said I’m not everyone and maybe others do notice this.
