      Still liking my 5X so probably living with that for a few more years. I'm guessing amoled will be the standard soon, so I expect the 8 would have it and the touch. Would be nice to have the phone options you mention.

    Just picked up the Fenix 6 Pro last week (Upgraded from an Apple Watch..) for around 40% off. From the rumours and leaks about the Fenix 7, it didn't seem like any of the new features (like the touch screen) really mattered to me and I think I made the right decision. Big fan of your Channel!

      Totally agree. Nothing really features wise and looks practically the same. Really surprised. I know they sold shed loads of the 6 but I wonder if they have done enough for those people to upgrade. I personally won't be.

      The 3 is great. Until bloodpressure-monitor & EKG I won't update. The torch function is nice but to expensive.

    • @indonesiaamerica7050
      @indonesiaamerica7050 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jorgw.6151 There won't be a Fenix with blood pressure monitor. And by EKG I assume you mean having something to touch (as opposed to lasers reflecting off the skin). I would not upgrade to a Fenix 7 unless it's from something completely different. And even then if I were to start from zero I'd get the F6 or F5. The thing that appeals to me about the F7 is the AMOLED display. So...I guess I'll just have to wait until I have a need for a new watch before I write off the F7.

    I got the 7x from the 6x Gand I love it. The flashlight alone I’ve used a million times. Considered the Epix but I hate the smaller size and coming from an Apple Watch I prefer the fenix screen outdoors and the activity screen strangely too. Both are fantastic but fenix for me

      @@MarkLewisfitness I watched a few reviews over a couple of days, and I only liked yours and a review from DC rainmaker (but he also had the watch for a month and a half to test it properly and make the video).
      I watched a few reviews from other well-established bloggers on TH-cam who make reviews for tech watches and I found them very bland, boring and done very poorly, considering that they were given watches for testing weeks before the release. Good job once again! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on differences between fenix 6 and fenix 7 after some time

    I have the Fenix 6X Pro and used it whilst training for an IRONMAN. The watch was perfect due to the battery life and sturdier case. I used to use the Forerunner 945 due to the battery life but felt it wasn’t built for a long endurance sport. Personally, the touch screen on the 7 is only useful with dry finders and when not wearing gloves in winter. You can’t really use it in water so it’s not a deal breaker for an upgrade. You will find a lot of 6 models up for sale and also second hand, so it’s a good time to get a high spec 6 model if you want a rugged watch and not have to pay the same price for the 7.

  • @justinp1471
    @justinp1471 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Good Review, I like how you hit it on the mark and explained the fact that the EPIX 2 looks good but isn’t as quite rugged in contrast to the Fenix 7. I also like the fact I can go camping, hiking, and kayaking and not worry about bringing cable to worry about. I have often forgot charging cables when traveling overseas and there are usually no Garmin stores in small towns or local villages. I feel another version of the EPIX with a few more days of battery life (3-5 days) would be a true contender just not at this time. I will be upgrading from my 5X to the smaller Fenix 7, mainly due to using maps. I feel the convince of touchscreen on maps is worth the upgrade thanks for the insight.

    It's somewhat of a relief to see this review, became tired of waiting for the 7 last year, so purchased the 6 Pro - but assumed I'd come to regret the decision. I'd prefer touch screen, but only for maps as you mentioned, otherwise 6 Pro is good for me. Interesting take on the Epix 2, hadn't considered that previously. Screen does look great, but if unless you're wearing both imagine you soon stop noticing anyway.

I currently have a Fenix 6, and I think while the quality of life upgrades are good with the 7, I am having an extremely tough time justifying the upgrade for a watch that already checks all the boxes for me. Refreshingly straight forward review. I love your "unboxing" detail.
    I have the Fenix 6S pro - it surpasses my triathlon training needs and meets most of my wants. I personally thought the Venu 2 was more impressive all round. If they put triathlon/multisport on the Venu2 I'd buy it over the Fenix series. Personally I don't think the Fenix 7 was good value at the old price, let alone the increased price. Never thought I'd ever say it but Apple watch looks like a bargain by comparison.
    The other massive want which you touched on is the ability to have multiple devices track your day. I would love a designer ladies watch to wear at the office/evening night out instead of a bulky sports watch that looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger designed it. Or have third party devices like that ring you're wearing synch up with Garmin connect.

    Thanks for your honest no BS feedback Mark! I was eagerly awaiting it as a replacement for my very tired Fenix 5, then to have to choose between hugely discounted 6X, 7X and an Epix all of a sudden... I'm well and truly stuck. Going to have a hard think over next few weeks and keep an eye on actual end-user reviews like yours to try and convince myself one way or the other... if only they had integrated the voice stuff from the tiny Venu 2 plus that would make things a far simpler choice. Guess they had to save something back for the mid-version "upgrades"...

    • @charlie58ize
      @charlie58ize 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would have been a good upgrade. I’ve got Venu 2S with touch screen but you can’t answer phone. Also maps aren’t as good as on the Fenix 6. So an upgrade should have major changes not gimmicks.

    Hi, I was tempted by the Garmin Epix and went for it. Coming from a Fenix 6 sapphire I bought the Epix sapphire so I didn't miss out on that wonderful scratch resistance. I loved the amoled touch screen with the bright colours, I loved the size and weight, BUT battery life was the main drawback! 16 days if you have the screen on raise to wake or just 6-7 days with always on turned on and that was with limited use and little-no actual fitness tracking. If you go on a daily hike, run or training session it was down to 4-5 days. I think if they make the Epix 3 with 16 days of always on and with a built in mic to take and make calls it would be the only watch anyone would need. But for now I sold the Epix and found a Fenix 6 Titanium band with sapphire screen for just £572 brand new and I am very happy.

    I've upgraded from the 5s, via the Polar grit x. It sounds silly, but I'm in my 70s so not as fast as i was, and i find the GPS tracking on my 7s better (GPS sensors sometimes struggle with slow speeds), and that's important to me. I just have the base model. The battery life is still incredible - i had to charge my Polar every 3-4 days. I don't know if i did the right thing screen wise, but my 5s with mineral glass didn't have a scratch on it till my daughter inherited it! Time will tell ...

    Last year I was torn between waiting to upgrade the 5X to the 7, but ended up going for the Enduro instead. Really happy as, like you say, a lot of the functions are surplus if you're not into certain things and as I quite often leave it the windowsill between workouts the solar actually does a good job of reducing drain. Not sure if upgrade to the 7 if I already had the 6 though.

    Great review Mark! I've been wanting a sport watch for a while now and was considering the Fenix 6. Now that Fenix 7 is out, I think I will get this one instead since it fits myself as I want to use it for my cycling and running activities. Keep doing great videos, I think we all really enjoy the way you make them!

    Just picked up a fenix 6x sapphire for $398 brand new. Figured it’ll do everything I need it to do and really wanted that scratch proof glass. Thanks for the video 🤙🏻

    Running, weights and motorbikes? My man! They happen to be my hobbies too!
    You are in really nice shape, I'm also aiming for the whole jacked runner thing. Got an ankle issue at the moment though which is annoying!
    Subbed for sure. :)

    Great review Mark as others have already said.
    I have the 6 Sapphire, I haven't read anything yet that has made me want to upgrade, sapphire and solar are definitely the things I will want but.. I reckon I will wait for an 8.

      Same for me. My 6x is from October last year. Too fresh to change. Touchscreen is nice but not a must have. I'll wait for the next gen.

    I've only ever used my Apple Watch for tracking fitness etc., but have (finally!) gotten into some more serious and consistent running... and so am finally looking at Garmins. It's a rather daunting task, truth be told, with SO many options. The Fenix 7 does indeed seem incredible, but personally I'm not in the scenario of being able to afford it. So leaning more on a second hand Fenix 6x right now...

    Great stuff as always! I am (im)patiently waiting for March to get the Fenix 7 to replace my Fenix 5 Plus. It will be a big upgrade for me. If I had a Fenix 6, I probably wouldn’t upgrade, but still really want. Cheers!

    Best review I have seen thus far. Seriously up there with Desfit / DC Rainmaker...with a bit more down to earth realism. If you are looking at the watches check DCR for all the geeky bits and this to help you decide!

      Can we just point out that Ray had a unit from Garmin to test for weeks in advance and I only had 24 hours…… so mathematically, mine is way better 😂😂😂 (and absolutely, check out his stuff for far more detailed reviews-especially his written blogs)

    I’m rocking a Fenix 6x pro and will be saving up for the 7x sapphire solar but if a new model drops well then it’s a given I’m getting the newest version. Appreciate the video Mark.

    Had the 6X Pro for a few years now and while I love it, was beginning to wonder if the 7 would be worth the upgrade. As I fall into the second of the three people categories you describe, thanks Mark, you've just saved me £500. Gonna be some torch for that cash!

      Hi mark got the 6 sapphire titanium and finding it records slower than Strava time, any reason why and do you find this in the 7 ? Is there something I need to alter on settings ?

    Mark! I enjoyed the video, I recently sold my Fenix 6 Sapphire and am waiting on the Epix to be in stock here in Canada (Garmin's website). Enjoyed your sense of humour as well!
