Good reaction. Budokan is a martial arts centre built for the 1964 Olympics and has also become a very prestigious music venue. The Beatles were the first band to play there. This was March 2014 and BABYMETAL became the the youngest ever female headline act with Su (yes she is the lead singer and the whole idea for BABYMETAL was based and developed around her talents) just turned 16, Yui and Moa still 14 ... and they sold it out two nights running (Red Night and Black Night).
The Kami Band here (Kami means God or Spirit, so they are the Gods of guitar, bass and drums and wear the traditional burial robes and corpse face paint to play their part) were Leda Cygnus (black flying V), Takayoshi Ohmura (pink glittery guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums).
And this is why SU-METAL is called "the Queen". She's also a metal goddess so you don't ask her to marry you :)
This one was performed on March 2nd 2014 at the Nippon Budokan in Chiyoda City, Tokyo. Suzuka was 16 years old back then. This is what we call a "Su's solo" (no Yui and Moa this time) and my favorite song. It combines several of my favorite things: double bass drumming, dueling and harmonizing guitar solos and, of course, the clear and powerful voice of Suzuka. Actually this is my standard for perfection.

IDK what will happen after the pandemic, I hope all will back to normal but I have the feeling that's not gonna happen (and I'm talking about concerts and massive crowds)... we'll see.
Su started doing songs for Anime when she was 8, was in 2-3 J-Pop bands, attended an Academy for Music and Acting and had various vocal coaches. She is a super pro...

Su-metal is the lead singer and it's the reason Babymetal exists. Her talent is is at the center.
The Kami band (Kami means god, gods of metal: god of bass, etc.) are amazing musicians. Nobody rocks a pink guitar like Ohmura !
Loved the reaction, and yes, Su-metal is the lead singer, and in fact Babymetal was built around her when she was 12. Their producer recognized her talent even before that and was the driving force for the "experiment" he wanted to do with mixing J-Pop and metal. The Kami Band is a collection of the top musicians Japan has to offer, and do projects outside of Babymetal as well.
to me all the young ladies are very talented and all can sing but su has the strongest voice out of them all, but they do sound the best as a trio. i love black baby metal songs as well and hope they can build on moa's voice also being yui left because of health problems and do hope one day she can return to do at least one show with the band for the fans who miss her

It might not seem like it, but 'Akatsuki' had its live debut over a year before 'Gimme Chocolate!!'.
This group has always been about contrasts.
Hard to imagine the genius of BABYMETAL producer Koba.
He became aware of lead singer Suzuka Nakamoto (Su) in the Amuse Inc. Kid's division, when she was 10 or 11 and a member of the JPop trio Karen Girl's.
And decided she should be the lead in a metal group.
So he built one around her. At the time of this performance, she was 16.

This concert is from 2014, the youngest artist to ever headline the legendary Budokan. I believe Su was 16 at the time. You should hear her sing this song today with her matured voice. The band is known as the "Kami Band", which means "God Band". Each member is labeled as the god of their instrument. "God of Drums", God of Bass", and "God of Guitar." At this point in time, the guitar players were usually Mikio Fujioka (known as the little god) and Takayoshi Ohmura (big god). However, at this show, it was Leda Cygnus (Black ESP Arrow) and Ohmura (Pink-Chan ESP) with Boh (God of Bass) and Hideki Aoyama (God of Drums). Each member of the Kami band are among the best musicians Japan has to offer and each is well known individually as session musicians. Search for them individually will send you down a rabbit hole of a multitude of different bands and solo performances. Mikio (little god) died in an accident in 2018. The Kami band came together and have performed a series of concerts and released albums indvidually to support Mikio's family, from his wife to his children to his parents, to make sure they are never "in need" and have the money for his kids to attend college (they are still very young). Here is one of those concerts from last year with Ohmura playing Mikio's guitar (al of Mikio's equipment was given to Ohmura). It's hard to watch as Ohmura is obviously emotional distraught. However, it is an opportunity to see the Kami Band unmasked. th-cam.com/video/KDMH51PU4Ao/w-d-xo.html. The second "ghost" guitar and image is Mikio. To this day, Ohmura performs with a Cigerette (Mikio's brand) attached to the back of his guitar under the tuning knobs as an invite for Mikio to come back and perform with him.
Gimme Chocolate and Akatsuki are both from their debut self-titled album. It just shows the contrasting sounds in their albums. There's some serious songs like this one, and there's other catchy and fun tracks in that album like Gimme Chocolate. That's how they do it. It's also rare to find two Babymetal songs that sound alike.
You should check out 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere UK. It's one of their heavier, fast paced songs, and it's got plenty of shredding for you.

This performance was only a year after Gimme Chocolate was released and Su did a great version of this song at the same concert that Gimme was filmed at so her voice probably hadn't matured too much in the meantime - she was always amazing! :) But the Kami Band (translation: God Band) had become a permanent fixture by this time - oh, their costume is a corpse shroud and their make up is...well, that's a corpse look too! I've been enjoying Metal since I saw Sabbath live in 1976 and got lucky enough to get tickets to see Babymetal live this february, before Earth closed down and I think that, in the 44 years between those 2 gigs and the huge amount of bands I've seen play live during that time, Babymetal are the most refreshing band I've witnessed. I've subscribed as I enjoyed your reaction and you clearly appreciate Su's vocal skills (soprano with a C4 to G#5 range) as well as the Kami Band's Metal talents so I'm hoping you'll be exploring their impressive and immense back catalogue further - or falling down the Fox Hole as we say. There is another great song from this same Black Night concert that you might just enjoy - a Metal AF number about playing Hide and Seek (only with Babymetal as other Metal bands haven't quite developed the gonads to take on the subjects that Babymetal deal with daily - chocolate, hide and seek, bullying, mint-flavoured time travelling chewing gum amongst other things) that features a solo from both guitarists, the bassist and the drummer before all 3 girls come on and kick ass with a great song and tightAF choreo. A silly detail probably but in an interview Su-metal said she performed 3 times. First Red Night, she was nervous. (it was after all the venue she always wanted to perform at). Then she dreamed the full show at night as a sort of preparation and did a perfect performance the next day at Black Night. :-) I doubt anyone could notice anything wrong at Red Night with Su-Metal's performance but clearly she thought it wasn't perfect.

@@papa_xan Yeah, Moa fell while running, the girls were exhausted and had jitters, big deal for them. But OMGD from our view point it looked like Yui did a stage dive but there was no audience there and everyone freaked out, but what happened is she completely fell off the same type alley way that Moa slipped on .The stages were super dark. Both girls were hurt and upset but, in true metal form , they forged on and were great!

Suzuka Nakamoto aka Sumetal is a lead Singer, this year the band turns 10, it is 23 the other vocalist is called Moametal she is 21 years old and Yuimetal the other vocalist left in 2017, the band is called KAMI BAND or Banda dos Deuses

Dye Crimson! Dye Bloody Crimson! Ahhh! So yay! I finally caught up! Su's solos really just cater to my own personal taste in music! Absolutely love all of them, but Akatsuki is my 2nd fav (Rondo of Nightmare will always be the first!). Her songs are the darker/sadder toned songs from the first 2 albums, with the exception of maybe Amore which is a bit happier. And, as you said, it takes major breath capacity and control to be able to sing with such clarity and power live, especially while dancing and running around! Su is just one of those people who kill it live!

Gonna recommend my current fav Awadama Fever (grindy music and super cute vocals and choreo). Its said that this was the response to haters that called their music "bubblegum pop" and "nOt ReAl MeTaL DuRp". So, of course, BABYMETAL clapped back by making a song about a mint flavored bubblegum time machine that can grant your dreams! Gotta love it!
And also my fav Su solo, Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro live at Budokan (venue) Black Night (concert title). This song is possibly their darkest songs. Its about a girl running from an unknown IT in a recurring nightmare. She tries to hide but IT always finds her. Realizing that she cannot escape, she pleads for IT to show itself to her. Then finally she falls to the darkness! Soooo dark! So metal!!! Love! And the intro showcases the insane god like skills of the appropriately named Kamiband! It will melt your face and blow your mind! And speaking of that Bass, the Mischiefs of God intro will display exactly how baddass he really is and how he stole allll my love of the electric guitar for himself! Lol!

What makes Babymetal special is that the girls represent the kawaii idol genre and that's they are showing what they are (they are originally from the idol group Sakura Gakuin) they don't copy a typical metal band's sound....they rock!
You will love Road of Resistance, Headbanger and Rondo of Nightmare (among several others, both those are a nice introduction). Badass band.

Nice reaction!! The birthdays of the three princesses are SU: 12/1997, YUI: 06/1999 and MOA: 07/1999. SU was 17 years old at the time of this Budokan concert(2014). Akatsuki is so fun to follow just this one song because SU's singing style and voice changes with age.
I especially like about 15-7 years old. But of course I like the voice and the way he sings now. I also recommend these areas on TH-cam.

There are quite a few Japanese bands that do heavy stuff. Ningen Isu is one of them. Try their track Heartless Scat as a great comprehensive introduction.
And if you would like something a bit more jazzy or R&B influenced in your metal but still total bad-ass shredding, try the instrumental trio Asterism.

Love your reaction, for me Babymetal is not just a regular band ,their songs are just like a living thing. They can change their melody or rhythm of the song as they want. This part they want to trash, so they trash, next one they shifted up to the black metal rhythm and just end by power metal to smash it. their creativity is the best. u will get surprise more and more and more. keep rollin in the foxhole!

This was filmed in 2014, so the girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now and their performance has matured, and yet very energetic as before. Their activities are worldwide. Since June last year until March this year, they performed 20 times in USA, 19 in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan (total : 49 their own concerts + 6 appearance in festivals). Many more were planned but cancelled due to the pandemic.
I think it's worth pointing out that this is actually from the same album as Gimme Chocolate. This band is very, very versatile, and it will take a while before you have the full picture. And at the end of your Babymetal journey, you will probably have found a new appreciation for songs like Gimme Chocolate as well.
Make no mistake, Gimme Chocolate is a fantastic song, it's just a bit weird to the ears for first-timers and many people just listen to Gimme Chocolate then think they've sized up BABYMETAL when in fact they couldn't be more wrong. Also, don't get used to "one" specific sound coming from them. They LOVE experimenting and jumping genres. Their albums are literally like boxes of chocolates with different shapes and flavours. They love going bold with their style-mixing and genre-mixing. There's one thing that is consistent with BABYMETAL though : they are better live. They did not win several international awards for "Best Live Act" for nothing. They are tailor-made for live. Their albums are just little teasers. I've lost count of the number of songs that I heard the studio version first and wasn't particularly into it and then seen/heard it live and was blown away.
My Spotify playlist with BABYMETAL is literally only High Quality ripped-audios from their live concerts. It is THAT good.
You've got a lot to learn still about BABYMETAL. I can tell you're confused with the girls and the band but all that will slowly start to make sense. Just remember that the OG girls are Su (the lead singer here) - Moa & Yui (the two smaller girls that at first glance look like twins for newcomers). This song is solo'd by Su while the two other girls are taking a rest. They too have "duet" songs that they perform live and it's Su's turn to take a break.
The Kamis are literally Godlike musicians and they also get their moments to shine (as you could tell during this song performance). Going to a BABYMETAL concert truly is a life-changing experience.
Oh, and trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet. You clearly need to check out "BABYMETAL - BABYMETAL DEATH At Legend 97" next. If only for you to check out the two obvious homages to Metallica that I'm sure a fan like you will pick up on in no time. Cheers ;).

Great reaction and the first time I've heard a Cradle of Filth reference when it comes to BABYMETAL, that cracked me up a bit (in a good way).
Don't know why nobody (I've seen) suggested Rondo of Nightmare with the instrumental intro "Mischief of Gods". It's usually one of the first songs for "Metalheads" and people who love the band: th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html . It's also a Su solo song, but these are the songs on the first two albums that are more serious and all around most metal in my opinion.

When we see just number of views of k-pop, we misunderstand k-music is very very huge.
But in fact, K-music's sales is far less than J-music's.

The skills of Japanese girl bands such as "BAND-MAID"&"WAGACKI-BAND & "LOVEBITES" are wonderful. I'm not interested in KPOP because it has no individuality.
@@yukicoco434 the company behind BTS encouraged the fans to download an app and then keep watching there new songs but the app registers as different viewers .
The fans encouraged other fans to stay awake during night and keep playing the video giving them fake numbers of times the videos where watched .

What were you doing when you were 16? I know I wasn’t doing anything like this... and never will. It’s amazing even without the age aspect...Su... crazy good. And you’re sure right about the kamis not being generic. When I was 16, I was in high school working as a dishwasher on the weekends making $3.25 per hour (It was the 80's) and spending that money on comics. LOL!
