      When did Dewalt change the miter bevel handle material? Wasn't it metal? If I'm not mistaken, that looks plastic.

    • @jameshill4900
      @jameshill4900 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Edmund_Mallory_Hardgrove The 780 is still metal. 779 changed to plastic with type 21 around 2019. Then the type 22 779 dropped more features(bevel pawls, slide lock lever).

  • @jameshill4900
    @jameshill4900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Just an FYI. This is a the 2nd generation type 21 779 he is showing & the newer type 22 has less features (no slide lock lever on the side and no preset bevel stops at back). Only the 780 now has those features.

    Kyle when I install baseboards I glue them down with my glue gun.....I run beads of glue along the top and bottom portions of the baseboard. And when in need of painting I just remove them from the wall with my plaster knife....remove the glue easily and paint them.....repeat....it really works. No nails or nail heads to cover.....it works.

    Very helpful. I didn’t know my saw could do some of those things. Thanks

    The stop feature would be very useful in my field I fabricated aluminum so some days I have a lot of small projects with half way cuts in the material so I like that feature

    I have the 780 with the folding adjustable height stand and XPS lighting system. I really enjoy the XPS lighting system to line up the cuts. Used it to build a 2 story 650 square foot addition to my house. Very nice saw.

    • @kyle_noseworthy
      @kyle_noseworthy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sweet! I like the XPS system better than any I have seen on the market. It projects on your blade, so it is always perfect! Unlike lasers which are like rifle scopes. Have to be zeroed and can fall out of line!

    Does the current 779 version have blade depth stop that allows dado cuts

    Got this same saw and stand special at Lowe’s just recently. Great quick overview. Agree the saw is very well engineered . Only thing I didn’t understand is why they didn’t include the ideal screws to attach the base for the stand ( the front two) Most install with the treads pointing up in the front like shown in this video. The screws stick up far enough to interfere with the pivot table if swung to the fullest.

      Some saws have deeper mounts than others they probably wanted to make sure they had it all covered. I had to trim mine down too

    took me 3 years to realize a little bump stop thing. Alot of half laps are in my future

  • @lyndaprogler9937
    @lyndaprogler9937 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    maybe someone can help. People talk about cutting dado or lap joints. When I slide mine front to back, the depth isn't constant (the slide bars aren't perfectly parallel to the table). And I can't find any way to adjust it.

    I have the same saw, but only difference is mine didn’t come with the stops for the bevel. I guess they changed that on the type 2 .

    If you purchase thee xps laser upgrade you void your warranty. So be sure to return your saw to original prior to taking it in for Warranty repairs.

    Really it's best to invest in a non sliding saw also for most jobs because these are portable but a pain to haul around for most jobs
