    In this video, we unbox and setup a 12in Sliding Miter Saw from Dewalt. This saw was AMAZING right out of the box, and a couple months in it is going strong. We love it so much!!! I had to get a 60T blade as the 32T that came with mine was not supposed to be in the box, and Lowe's was kind enough to switch it out for me at no charge (Look into your specific deal).
    This model is the one WITHOUT the built in LED light, wasn't something I needed. As far as I know, this saw is Identical to that one other than for the LED light (DWS780)

    I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend.This is a Great saw th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.

    Thanks for the video. Was trying to acclimate to a saw Just purchased. S779 saw used with stand from a local retired carpenter. $150 - Sat for a year. A bit packed with saw dust. Cut really good from the start with a dewalt 60T that it came with. Also purchased a Bosch 4100 table saw ($150) from him that just needed new bearings. Since the dewalt was used alot, I busted into the motor on that and am replacing two of the bearings on the armature that had small signs of wear. Not horrible but maybe on its way out in a years time. Repacked the gearing behind the blade with grease. She should be running top notch this week when all my bearings come in. I bought a new Kobalt 12" and stand a year ago but this dewalt might be my replacement from here on out. Pretty solid saw.

    I love my Dewalt, had it for 6 years and have never run into any issues. Smart to put a new blade on, the standard 32T blade is OK, but you are better off with a 60T or 80T blade, much cleaner cut.

    Liked and subscribed due to how well the video was made and how informative you were making it. This is by far the biggest piece of equipment I own now (got it for Christmas from the hubby) and can not wait to start using it. I must admit it was a bit overwhelming when I started assembly by the manual (boring). Wondering if maybe you could explain saw blades and what's best for what, type of thing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

      Hey!!! Thanks so much for this comment!! Apologies for me delayed response. I highly recommend Diablo for blades, that's always my go to. This link here helps you pick the right blade for the specific tool and project - www.diablotools.com/explore/saw-blades. Great choice on the saw as well, it's a work horse for us - new video uploaded today for a Playhouse I built for my kids for Christmas, and the saw got a TON of work!! If you don't follow on social media, check us out there too - we are always building something and happy to help however possible!!

    I have a DeWalt 718 and a 780 both work great I double checked my guide to make sure that my angles were correct you can adjust that guide on the front of the saw if your angle is off…I use Diablo 80t blades which I use Diablo blades on all my circular saws …I also use the Ridgid mitre stand which makes it easy to store and easy to roll around

    Great tutorial! Thanks! Now I'll know what to do with my Christmas gift! It has so many features that are better than the Ridgid saw. I've used the Ridgid for 6 years, and lately have had lots of trouble with the blade guard getting in the way. Hopefully, the DeWalt will perform much better!

    Dude, great video! Just got my saw and the mobile stand for my birthday present. Thank you, wife! You didn't even turn on the laser! Well, the manual (yes, I read it) calls it a laser but it is actually a shadow. It's called XPS and includes the light. Yes, there is a light on your blade at the top. To turn it on just press the black rubbery switch north of the saw handle (not the carry handle). Check it out!

    Great video! I feel like I need a little different instruction straight out of box instead of starting with blade. Basic functions first and to get the product in useable function first (locks, slides, angles, bevels). I couldn’t figure out how to release the saw lock and went elsewhere. I purchased this saw 3 days ago. Mine came with the ripping blade as well however lowes would not exchange the blade for me so I was stuck purchasing another blade and now have a 32t blade that I have no use for.

    • @TheToughGuysTV
      @TheToughGuysTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve looked into a bit more and that 32T is good for construction rip cuts, but not for anything else basically and it is ok to run it. Switching the blades on the dewalt is super quick too which helps. What blade did you end up purchasing?? I’ve heard the Spyder brand is AMAZING - not tried it yet though. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts!! 🙌🏻

      The 32 tooth blade is what you want when you’re building decks and any type of framing. It cuts through the lumber faster with less strain on the saw motor. The more teeth you have on your blade the more it will gum up when cutting through pressure treated lumber. I personally have both blades so I will be prepared for any job I want to do.

    Awesome video. I just unboxed and set mine up this evening. We moved into a new home a year ago and I have already started tearing up the main level flooring to install hardwood, so I'll be putting this through its paces this next week. @TheToughGuysTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @TheToughGuysTV
      @TheToughGuysTV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching!! The 60T blade will make cleaner cuts for certain circumstances. The 32T blade is a better rough cut type of blade, def general purpose for construction lumber. If you’re able, consider Diablo or Freud blades, both would serve you well! Good luck! 🤙🏻

    I have this saw, it works really nice, I have a few complaints, 1st off, with the bag it sticks out way to far, if you have a small shop, don't buy this, 2nd off it's really heavy, if I could do it again I would spend more and get a sliding miter saw that could sit flush against the wall, and prob go with a 10 inch since 12 is just so big

    • @TheToughGuysTV
      @TheToughGuysTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s big for sure, and I call them out on the bag placement in my Evolution Miter Saw Video, it’s pretty crazy how far it sticks out. I don’t move the saw around ever, so the weight doesn’t really affect me but yeah if you have to move it at all might try to find a lighter option. Thanks for checking out the video!

    Question if you can answer: There is a screwhole for a screw right next to your left index finger knuckle at about 2:55. Any idea what the screw that goes there is for? Our saw came with that screw in place and I have no idea what the screw is for.
