"Sleeping Beast" | 2019 Suzuki GSX-S1000 Full Review & Road Test

  • In 2015 Suzuki made the legendary 2005-2008 GSX-R1000 reborn by simply using the same engine that’s been packed in the “less plastic and more technology” package. Now, following the trend of the motorcycle world where you can utilize that great power plant, we’re in 2019 where you can get one of those - the 2019 #Suzuki #GSXS1000. It looks like a smaller 600cc since you don’t see any “power-screaming parts,” and this specific “Z” trim doesn’t tell you what you have to expect until you'd be dare enough to wake the beast up! Check out our review and road test to find out more and don't forget to subscribe to our channel for even more cars and #motorcyclereviews coming your way weekly! th-cam.com/users/chitalk?sub_...

    By far the best review I've experienced. I wish reviewers were as easy to understand and covered the most significant points as this review does. When I first heard an accent, I was thinking, I hope I can get something from this assessment. This guy is as sharp as a tack and as on point as it gets, excellent info that I will periodically refer back to.

    I loved this review more than many of the others I have watched because of the amount of detail you give. I have since gone on a demo ride of this bike and specifically looked for the things you mentioned in this video. You were spot on with everything...even the vibration at higher revs! I still bought one 😁Excellent review 👏👏👏👏

      Justin Voluck ...yes you would be making the right decision. I have a 2018 GSX-s 1000f version. I’m telling you sitting upright makes all the difference in the world. Sometimes I may ride 4,000 miles a month because it’s so comfortable to ride. I chose the f model because I’m not a fan of the wind that I get from naked bikes . Plus I understand the f model’s windscreen makes the bike more planted. It took me a while to make my decision, but DAMN I’m happy I did. Good luck to you if you make the switch.

      Justin Voluck ... that’s funny because I installed the Puig touring screen for even more protection. I swear to you, I can cruise at 90 mph with one hand in my pocket or on my hip if I choose to because it does such a good job.

    And because it comes from the 2005 -2008 GSX-R1000 superbike, there's a pile of knowledge from go-fast speed shops how to turn this engine into a ridiculous monster capable of making today's superbikes (not naked bikes) sit up and take notice.

    Great indepth video my man , I really want one of these but have seen a couple of videos where they seem to hit natural alot or have problems changing gears , maybe it's down to the inexperienced rider because I know these engines and gearbox are solid , what was your thoughts on the gearbox and gear shifter , maybe some handle bar snakes to fill out the hollow space to help with vibration could help

      Spring on the clutch cable could be a solution to make shifts a bit more crispy and avoid false neutral. You will get use to hit harder on the downshift after a few months.

    Great, i have the 2018z which apart from mine being black/red rather than blue is exactly the same. I do have some after market bits like R11 Yoshi, air intake mod, PC V, g2 throttle tamer to name a few. The vibration i agree with but at 8000 rpm i'm more concerned with whats going on around me and keeping the front wheel down than vibration. Also the Fat Bar was the right height but too far away from my short arms and is adjustable both directions, so easy fix. I also had a bit of trouble with throttle on/off mid corner being way to abrupt at higher speed (as well as in very slow traffic due to being to lean under 8000rpm) and the PC V and throttle tamer fixed that completely. The Dunlops are as you say quite sticky i replaced my rear with a Conti Road Attack 3 and it does not slip/slide nowhere near as much and far superior in the wet. The Dunlop lasted 6000kms. Your review is a fair appraisal of the GSXS i believe. Nice one.

    • @rich.dodd1
      @rich.dodd1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 2016 gsxs 1000 vibrates at 5500rpm only, all inline 4's buzz at some point in the rev range, it's how they are, just down to if the rider notices. Some say it has throttle snatch others don't, mine snatches violently on occasions, especially unsettling mid corner.

    • @stuartb1963
      @stuartb1963 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are right that inline fours buzz at some point ,and all engines vibrate at some point but I have had four cylinder bikes that cause your fingers to go numb on the vibes I have never had any effect from the vibes and as fo the snatch on the throttle I find no problem except on occasion when I am heavy handed with it. I have read a remap or power commander smothes out vibes and the throttle but as neither has been an issue for me I haven't bothered. For me it's a brilliant bike it handles great has a really nice engine super cheap to run and is well made my only issue is the suspension which is ok but would benefit from an upgrade which I will do when I get round to it

    Sorry you don't have to hold in the clutch to start it. If they put a tail tidy on it they look a lot better. Suzuki just need to put a slightly better seat on it for longer rides. I only did 500 kms and I wanted to get off it big time. However it is a lovely bike as I own the GSXS1000F.

    So torn up. Looking for some solid advice.
    My z1000 was just recently stolen which totally sucks but I got a lot of money back from insurance. I wanted to see if anyone would recommend the GSX-S1000, My 2015 z1000 had insane low end torque and low end acceleration which I loved. From videos I've watched it looks like the Gsxs is more Mid-range to high end. I'm curious if its going to feel much different from my z1000 or a little different in terms of acceleration. I currently prefer naked style motorcycles over super sports. I just don't feel like laying down all the time and i'm quite tall 6'3.
    Thanks in advance for your opinions.

    • @LiveFEEDNow
      @LiveFEEDNow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you like low end your best option would be CB1000R.
      Sorry to hear that your Z1000 got pick up. I lost my R1 back in the day (Chicago... Chicago..) but in our case we had no full coverage and it was pretty painful experience when CPD didn't bother to write down the VIN number. We had to force them to include it the police report.

I drive daily to work in the city and also the highway and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, which one? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike so what is your opinion? are they similar to Honda cb 1000 cc r or Kwa z1000 or BMW S 1000R

    • @LiveFEEDNow
      @LiveFEEDNow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Petroos, you should look for Kawasaki Z400 or something similar. It's a great bike to ride and speed is not the key factor. The more I ride I feel like "smaller is better". Get something smaller like Z400 or Ninja 400. Put money into quality gear, airbag vest and good tires. It won't "look cool" as any 1000cc for your or your friends right now but after a few years you will see why you should get smaller bike and ride the hell out of it. Any qestions? Let me know!

      I was torn between these two. Went with the S1000. More complete package, better parts (brakes, suspension), more power, better sound. All reviewers rave about how TC is not needed - well it isn't, provided that conditions are optimal. When they are not, with wet and/or cold tarmac, it should be there to save your ass. 120+ bhp machines are no joke. Lastly, the stock tyres are shit, Michelin Road 5s transformed the bike. Ride safe!

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miklosmaraczi8807 For some reason Japan loves to give demo-riders, or first-time owners the worst experience possible with diminished rubber, worse than the same model tire you could buy from a tire shop (if it is actually available in the same model).
      Traction control on most bikes that aren't race-track honed machines (R1, S1000RR, GSX-R1000R, ZX-10R, RSV4, Panigale V4) and on bikes that cost less than 18 thousand USD is usually traction control that is unrefined in how it engages and only does its job in somewhat abrupt ways (albeit effective, admittedly). Same goes with ABS systems in more "budget" cost bikes. Funny how 11 grand motorcycles these days are considered more budget-oriented.

    10:10 that is a flat plane inline-4 engine and its gonna vibrate at high rpm just like any other flat plane engine out there. If you want a little bit smooth engine at high rpm, get a cross plane or V4 engine. But mind you, this GSX-S1000 is an awesome machine.

    Very strange about vibration, because when I rode the first release of the GSX-S1000 at a Suzuki demo back in 2017, it wasn't a vibrating mess at all. I know they slightly modified things since, but nothing that would affect vibration. I've been on terrible vibrating 4-cylinders so I do have a reference perspective. I just didn't find the 2016 GSX-S to be a vibrating problem. I do remember the GSX-S750 being overall smoother, but obviously less power by far.

    I like everything about this bike except the head light... Suzuki should upgrade it by a LED light

      Good catch! It looks older and they do need to upgrade it 100%.

    I would love to get this bike but damn is it ever ugly...I’d have to give the advantage to Kawasaki Z900RS because of the good looks, I just couldn’t look at this and be proud of it

      None of the Suzuki will have flashy design and super-advance tech. It's plane but guess what? I still regret that I had to sell my personal GSX-R 600 (K6) and even right now when I have access to every single motorcycle on the market I would pay to get that same bike back.
      Same here. No the best design but a lot of value.

    I have the 2017 model and must say i don't get any vibrations, but i noticed you were doing 50mph in 1st.... maybe that's why you get so much vibration.... gear up

      Hi Paul, it all comes down to what bikes you had a chance to ride and in our case we had CB1000R before we took GSX-S1000.
