Its hilarious that we are just now getting stocked pistols and carbines for the assault class, when historically it was stormtroopers and units using hutier tactics (aka assault teams) that used them the most frequently. Honestly, most semi auto rifles would have been used by pilots if anything.
Der Goldmeister the only autoloader (semiautomatic rifle) to be used in ww1 was the rsc17 by the French and they were awarded to only those who were superb marksmen (there wasn't enough for even 1% of the French army so why not). Literally no other was was used. Pilots only had pistols if anything (and the morbid reason for that was mostly because a pilot could shoot himself as what often happened when those early planes crashed was the pilot gets stuck in the wreckage and burns to death). Also the war saw more use of the carbine c96 than all the rest of the bf1 assault weapons put together, and by a wide margin. I just don't know why they only give us some weird rare magazine version though.
Nicholas the more weapons they give us, the less people are going to want to buy dlcs. I think by having loads of weapons you basically never use is a so EA can say: "look at all this content we have" in a way where people are still going to buy the dlcs for more weapons.
the easiest way I found to get the 5 boat kills is to destroy the transport boats when they're parked on the beach they still count as kills because there a spawn point
Played against a guy last night who used this on Argonne...he went 77-14. This was PS4 so I messaged him with a GG and he told me it was his first time using it, lol.

If you are stuck on the multi kills, go to cape helles, spawn in a torpedo boat and destroy enemy boats. They have almost everytime two people in them at least

As it standed it didnt jump out as something i would enjoy using. But thankfully your video made me give it a real go at unlocking and using....i love it...a lot. Have found myself not going back to my usual goto weapon the RibeyRolles. SO well highlighted and presented mate.

Fun info: C96 was a really powerfull handgun, it shoots a mauser cartridge. Also it's holster was all wooden and was projected to use as a detachable stock.
Unfortunately it just doesn't kill fast enough to be relevant. On the bright side the TTK patch should fix its weakness so it's gonna be relevant pretty soon.
noriah swagington I think the same, the 1903 experimental has a 360 BPM like the trench carabine and deals more damage but it's still the worst weapon of the game

Oh yes. This is one of my new favorite assault class weapon. I usually don't even play the assault class but have found myself ranking up twice as an assault player already, whilst using this gun.
You are spot on with this review Westie, I was hoping they would adopt a semi auto to stretch the range of the Assault class a bit. It takes a different approach to play the 1917 TC and it suits me well.
The c96 trench gun had a big used in China after the war they made a removable stocked long barrel pistol in full auto with the 20 and 40 round mags but they had to be in 7.62 mauser
The m1917 patrol carbine is also an excellent option as a close to mid range weapon as long as ypu set the magnification to the lowest or 2nd lowest option.
It's my 3rd favorite assault gun because the encounters I have are always with a shotgun or automatico Which is why the double barrel is my 2nd favorite and the machinepistole is my first
The historical argument of "Not very common" doesn't work in battlefield 1 because, most of the guns in the game were not very common. Especially anything outside the side arms and primary for scouts as long as they didn't have optics.
I play on ps4 and the Farquhar-Hill optical is the only weapon I haven't unlocked yet. That might sound pathetic but as I was only able to update it 3 days ago, I think I've been doing good.

It took me about ten seconds watching this before I finally realized what set the weapon apart from nearly every assault weapon --- THERE'S ALMOST NO RECOIL AT ALL. Definetly the slowest firing assault weapon (anyone else notice the trend of the non shotguns getting slower as the dlc progressed [ribyrolles, Maxim, now this]) that ISN'T a shotgun. Looks pretty dang decent so long as you have good aim.
They really need to add a ribbon for maybe “4 Kills with Carbine Weapons” and maybe “4 Kills with Machine Pistols” since the tanker kit’s weapons don’t reward you with ribbons. Put the new assault weapons both count as SMGs when really neither of them are.
This gun is perfect for those explosive spamming choke point operation games. Hip fire is just about as accurate as aiming with the add benefit of being fast strafe capable with a large mag. Run flak, juggernaut, and hasty retreat. Keep your gas mask on every time you spawn in. With both flak and juggernaut you're granted a 30% reduction of explosive damage and a speed boost once suppressed for quick evasion. My go to assault weapon. 👌👌👌
It should be added that the complains by the commitee prompted the development of a full-auto version of the Mauser carbine (and the Luger as well). However, the light bolt caused a way too high RoF which made both weapons nearly uncontrollable, so the weapon developers went back to the drawing board to start from scratch - the result was the Mp-18.
the TRench Carbine is one of my favorite guns and oh baby I have nothing but positives about it, its accurate, its iron sight is easy to read, great mag size, great accuracy retention, it hurts (4 bullets or 3 bullets to down someone) fast reload, and I think 4 spare clips, that is a lot for WW1 standards, its great when aiming down sight its great from the hip I can not think of other problems aside from I hate the trail carbine
What is the stipulation on the multi kill aspect of unlocking it? Does it have to be all at once, like in an explosion? Because I've gone on five kill streaks and more a few times and have had no progress.
i unlocked the trench carbine while trying to get the farquhar hill, and the last 2 kills with the 1907 were a multi kill, which alao gave me the 1917. so you really dont need to focus on the assignment
I unlocked this day one without even realising it. 8/10 would bang. You can get it done without being assault. I unlocked as a medic. Mondrogon has a pretty small clip.
From my time in bf1 clearly a huge change in game mechanics from bf4 such as ads in bf4 you used to rely on ads because the weopon could better be controlled but bf1 is more hip fire centerend it forces players to reassess skills and just habbits such as ads immediately when you see someone
This weapon kills about as fast as the Selbstlader 1916 up close and it only gets worse from there on out. If you struggle to kill more than 2 enemies with the MP18 you should work on your accuracy or tap fire more. You know, the thing the MP18 is quite effective at. Casual ol' Westie ammirite ;) Edit: Maybe Westie is recommending it so he'll have an easier time killing enemies. Don't fall for his trap!

Historically speaking, stormtroopers used to carry pistols like that for trench raiding. The Assault class in BF1 is based off of Stormtroopers.

I think it will need a demage buff（4shot to 3shot） when the smg demage buff (5shot to 4shot) released.
