I've seen so many memes about OnePiece viewers unironically staring you in the eyes and telling you it gets good at episode 500. Glad to see Ethan living out his meme life
No actual One Piece fan gonna say it gets from ep 500 lol. Its great from the beginning but it gets really really really good afer like 250
yuh the other reply is right. it gets really good at baratie (episode 20) and every arc pretty much reaches new peaks
The issue is really that the story the world keep themselves lowkey early on. It's not bad at the beginning, it's just kind of a fun quirky story and people might not want to dedicate time just for that. Except it develops in a big way as the story progresses.
I would still say that if you aren't at least entertained at the beginning, the likelihood you will love it is slim. And if you don't like it by Baratie or Arlong, then it is reaaally slim.
If you don't like it after Arlong you're not human.
Ethan praising One Piece all these years made me start the show late last year. I'm currently on the Thriller Bark arc and I absolutely love the show. I recommend taking the voyage! It's a fantastic show.
It's a long ride, but against all odds somehow only continues to get better!

He’s probably referring to the investment to the wider world building. The earlier arcs are good but it served to flesh out the crew.
One piece anime draws women 100 % worse than Oda in the manga. Just google "one piece nami manga vs anime" or "one piece violet manga vs anime". Oda's design is horrible, but still pretty, anime is just wild
Earlier eps we’re much more in line with Oda’s designs, but it has definitely gotten out of hand these days. Lol

People needs to understand that the meme "it starts to get good at episode xx" was born because people unironically believe that because that's how good One Piece is, and that random arbitrary number they picked is where their minds were blown because not only Oda blew their expectations out of the water, it is where when they realize that they just need to bow down to One Piece greatness, the same feeling of epiphany when book readers bow down to The Lord of the Rings.

So what does he gain? Viewers that like One Piece. Which is growing quite large on TH-cam over the past few years. The more viewers he has the more money he makes.
Why does anyone in the public spotlight lie? Because they think it will make more people like them.
