the one thing i love about one piece is that the world doesn't revolve around the strawhats. the world is still moving. events outside of the crew's journey are still occuring. thw world is affected by factors other than our main cast, it makes the world feel big and real, and i just love this aspect of one piece.
yes and now that the strawhats are big players in the world, the world actually does revolve a bit around them now. Really gives a sense of progression
I also like that one piece will actually change the characters outfits based off of what kind of island they are on. Not enough manga writers take advantage of the creativity with outfit design which also makes it feel more real when the characters don't wear exactly the same clothes every single day
It's because on December the TH-cam revenue is exponencionally higher with the holydays and the ads selling better ,on January it's the worst in the year so bad that it's half as good as the normal month and content creators start having breaks
You are totally right about the character involvement. That's kind of what bothered me about the ending of Naruto. All these characters that were introduced in the first part became irrelevant by the end. They barely had any showcases and where just rushed over because Kishimoto seemed to be in a rush to end the main story and didn't really know what to do with the other characters. Which is a shame considering the final war arc had plentely of opportunities for the other characters with the Edo Tensei revivals. Oda does a phenomenal job at not only including tons of charactes in the story but even giving all of them their fair amount of time to shine.
it a shame because kishimoto can make great character it just because the focus on naruto, sasuke, and the antagonist were too heavy the other characters were just support. They aren't as active as a wyper, nojiko, or even dr kureha.
It seems pretty damned dumb 💀 actual stupid head assery where people go to a place, do a thing, and the main character never changes even minorly. Zero growth, just gets more bigger mega punchies.
@@noneofyourbusiness4133 Luffy and his crew grows. Arguably zoro doesn't change that much until the timeskip but the others do. It's like how Sasuke just seems edgy after the timeskip in Naruto but becomes more interesting as the story progresses.
One Piece feels way more alive and interesting than most other shonen because of the setting and the characters. Oda built an entire world with its own history and people. One Piece isn't just a vehicle for merchandising, Oda really does have a story to tell.
Yea OP world is alive and doesn't revolve around the MC. Everything moves forward even without the SH i.e the cover stories, growth in power , and political movements.
@@homomagii idk man most great shows such as Phineas and Ferb, Tom and Jerry, Adventure Time, etc... aka all the classic cartoons all have a recipe just like One Piece and they are all classic. I think the story is fantastic, repetitive but fantastic.
I find one piece entertaining and interesting. But certainly not emotional. It's to whacky and strange not relate to at all. Its like watching Tom and Jerry. They always have an annoying female that most the screen time. Nami probably wasn't even written in the story but shoe horn in. Then the stuff they wear. Very slutty while they have a terrible attuite. Wrong on so many level's. The amount of screen time wasted on Nami being angry or just her being a mean cow. And there's Sanjay one of the biggest simps. That's also a piece of crap. Going around telling every woman he meets he loves them. He's worse then a dog. Oh and now in more recent episodes. They have that Samurai that looks like cute chick. Looks and talks like a woman. Basically they drew a woman give her a woman's voice and called it a guy. Very sickening indeed. One piece has certainly been propagandised. Full of this crap like the rest of anime.
Seth, you're in for an incredible story in the next several arcs. I basically grew up with One Piece; I'm currently 23 and have been watching it since my pre-teens. I am not kidding nor exaggerating when I say it's a huge, huge part of my life and myself and I'm glad it exists. I hope you get to feel that too one day.
Same boat pretty much, started watching anime at around 7 with yuyu hakisho and then I was introduced to one piece, I'm currently 19 and I work as naval engineer because I love usopp and Franky but Coby is an idol. This show is one of those shows that once it's gone not a single person will say it's bad
The main reason you’re missing on why One Piece isn’t gotten into by a lot is because of the anime. Chapters can be read at a faster pace and generally quicker than a whole episode. If the story starts to slow down you can just read through it faster. With the West I feel as thought manga isn’t as mainstream as anime, causing anime to be the only way the stories are consumed making this issue
That’s pretty much what I did when I got into the series. I mostly watched the anime but when the story felt like it was moving slow I would switch to the manga. I also think some people forget to skip the filler so the length just comes off as daunting to them.
Yea the anime is annoying. It almost feels like chunks of every episode is filler. Like repeated scenes and drawn out exchanges. I really can’t watch the anime
it's also because of 4kids. The exposure one piece got in the west was kind of ruined by 4kids dub. while naruto, bleach, and dragon ball, got some really cool voices and a proper team, one piece got cringe edits, character voices/accents, puns, and dad jokes.
The biggest thing for me is the length. Like 1000+ chapters and episodes? That is a big and seemingly daunting task to embark on. But as someone who binged the entire pre time skip in just over a month, it was worth it. Beautiful story, funny scenes, amazing fight scenes. People really need to watch it.
@@canwegetmuchhigher729 the pacing was fine pre timeskip. But post? Especially dressrosa? At that point I watched it because I already invested like thousands of hours into it that I couldn’t just back out.
1000+ chapters of pure unadulterated mid, manga cant decide if its meant to be taken serious or if it wants to be a show for 5 year olds with all the cringe goofy designs and all the anti-climactic jokes in the middles of fights/serious scenes, unwatchable and unreadable, should be erased from this earth
@@adsfddsdfsfsdsasofsavgdhua4879 you sure spend a lot of time hating on a franchise loved by millions that has also made billions of dollars. Go ahead and not like it but you saying it’s bad is entirely your opinion😪
I started the One Piece anime in 2016 and instantly became obsessed with the story, characters and one piece world. Picked up the manga at chapter 1000, havent been able to let go of it since. Absolutely the best work of fiction to ever exist, you’re in for a ride.
Yea, One Piece is a really good story. That's why One Piece, Naruto and HunterxHunter>Dragon ball. I'm sorry to all DB fans, but you can read Naruto/One Piece/HunterxHunter at any age and find it interesting good story. I didn't read/watch Dragon Ball as a kid, then I try to read it/watch original DB and DBZ when I was 17-18. It was boring and pretty stupid story without good plot. The only thing I didn't drop after few episodes was DBZ abridged. It was funny,it wasn't boring and Frieza didn't fight Goku for 3 hours. I don't know about "the best one", dunno.
I Started OP in 2018 Read manga since 1025ish I just couldn't wait. First show to get me into manga. Now I read like maybe 6 Mangas atm. OP is by far my favorite fictional story I've read or watch.
As someone in Fishman island, when u read one piece u start to pick up on character trends, such as the fact Luffy is not a hero, he’s just batshit insane
Same like I do look at some one piece powerscaling but it’s just their not well known as a powerscaler so it’s difficult to trust but Seth is almost always accurate with his scales and been scaling for a good 10 years I think
One piece is definitely one of those works of fiction where you need to get past a certain point and it gets exponentially better. The character development and world building really culminate into an incredibly immersive world. Hope you make more one piece videos in the future!
but why should i have to get past a certain point? not to mention that “point” from what i understand is several episodes/chapters in. shouldn’t a great series just be like…great? why should i have to gruel through anything
@@creezuz no one is forcing you. Its just that the beginning arcs of one piece are very different from other popular animes (mostly comedy and not serious) so if anime watchers go into one piece they'd hate the beginning.
@@creezuz I’d say it arguably starts off great and then at a certain point becomes fantastic. There’s nothing to “gruel” through. Read it and you’ll see.
@@creezuz he's saying it doesn't start out as the greatest thing ever. the beginning of one piece is still charming and well written (enough to justify still watching it) it's just not the best saga it has to offer
It's always interesting hearing the opinion of a newcomer to one piece. They typically have a unique take and perspective on scenes and themes that can be thought provoking to someone that's further along in the story. With that being said, I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts on it once you get through Marineford and eventually caught all the way up to the current chapters. I'd love to hear your perspective on the power scaling for the series; some of the feats and abilities seen later on are amazing.
Congrats on getting into One Piece. Its SO good! Being as long form as it is its natural for storylines to have ups and downs. Even on the downs though, its still great world building that does come into play during the big upward arcs (even if its hundreds of chapters later). The story simply wouldn't work as well without all the pieces.
One piece is about the journey not the destination. Also oda is the goat for anime world building. So much depth in this anime. As well as amazing character development. Seth I can’t wait for you to get into some of the better arcs. So much great stuff coming for you.
I basically did the same as you and just got into one piece only a year ago. I’m all caught up and am reading the new chapters weekly. It’s a beautiful story with exceptional characters. I never thought I’d love One Piece this much, but gosh, am I happy I gave this one a shot because I’ve fallen in love with so much of this story. Oda has a talent for writing compelling characters and the world building is phenomenal. Truly each arc gets better. I do have my favourites, but all in all this is a wonderful journey I hopped into. I hope you have as much fun with the rest of the story Seth.
Latest chapters have rekindled my love for the series to the state it hasn't been in years. Oda is on a roll currently and you can finally see everything he's setup coming together.
@@100navat well many questions from earlier chapters are being answered now, and the new characters being introduced are awesome, it only gets better as you get further into the story
Personally I feel the one piece manga is the greatest piece of fiction created. But I understand the people who are put off that you have to read 300+ chapters for it to get good. Those peoples opinions are completely valid. People who call it overated honestly? Completely understandable
I used to think One Piece was just all hype and at first i found it to be annoying but after the alabasta/arabasta arc was when i just started to really appreciate it. Now i must say it is one of the greatest stories i have ever had the pleasure of following. I love that the author doesn't take short cuts like many do and the characters absolutely stay true to who they are so when they do things you really believe and connect with the character and overall story! I would highly recommend watching or reading the manga!
Been reading one piece since I was 10 (I’m 23 now) and man does the endgame of one piece make everything feel so satisfying for me. I’ve been on the journey most of my life with the cast so I can’t help but love everything about it. Although I completely understand someone not being into it or being put off by the sheer volume of the story. I can’t even bring myself to tell others that they should read 1k plus chapters because of how much real life time it takes from you. If I wasn’t caught up for over a decade there’s no way I’d be reading or watching that much idc how good it is. Shout out to those actually tackling that monster of a read
It's a long ways away, but I think after dresrossa is a really good time to revisit and review the series. Also, a nice mini review of skypia could be smart to. Skypia is largely considered a complete end to end story within one piece on its own. Starting with Bellamy and ending with Enel is a unique all-encompassing story that's worth focusing on.
So much of Skypiea becomes relevant to the entire worlds lore, though. So while I agree its a enclosed story-arc, it has massive ramifications for the series as a whole.
Only just got into the series a month ago and I'm just past the alabasta arc And I'm hooked once ya get past the introductions it's really easy to get caught up in the story
My prayers came true, one piece is a work of art in it's own right, when I watch the anime or read the manga I can't help but let myself get submerged in it's world building. The attention to detail, the cultures let alone the designs overall no matter how goofy just feel refreshing. I honestly can't wait for Seth's final review and hopefully, how Seth will power scale the characters in the series.
The goofiness seems a turn off at the beginning but when you actually learn more about the world Thank God Oda chose a goofy art style Imagine the ohara and law stuff with a serious art style even like Naruto It would be so dark and dramatic
It's just annoying as fuck that they often take up 5-7 minutes of runtime with the opening theme and recap not to mention even more sometimes when they replay part of the ending of the last episode, so really your only getting about 10 minutes of story progress if it's even a story progress episode and not a filler cause the end often take 3-4 minutes of end song and next episode spiel, out of a 23 minute runtime without commercials. This makes your 1000 episodes turn down to about 500 episodes if you skip through all the bullshit
@@tikikeram850 Bro one piece is just the best, I mean, in what fictional world can you see great designs such as Zoro, Katakuri and Mihawk exist along side some really weird, loonie tunes like designs such as Big Mom, Wapol and Gecko Moria.
@@patflann29 He had stuff planned out to some extent. Thats why we got his origin with North Blue etc pretty early on and the name obviously. So I guess he had ideas, but realized the final idea probably later on.
@Ywach Well no, it's because Sanji was set to appear around the same time the Naruto manga was first released in Shonen Jump. He changed the name to avoid confusion with Kishimoto's character.
Ive also only watched up to the end of the alabasta arc (must be a common stopping point) and i gotta say you explained usopp perfectly. Hes basically the ideal version of what they were going for with sakura. And hes one of my favorite characters for that exact reason hes literally just a normal ass dude in a world with rubber men and god powers, so his run-of-the mill “i wanna be strong!” Goal is actually really interesting and makes me root for him the most out of anyone.
Alabasta arc is good, but just wait until Water 7 and Enies Lobby. That is the arc that made me fall in love with the series, and I suspect a lot of One Piece fans will say something similar.
I ended up falling in love with One Piece once Arlong Park hit, bc as u said i actually started to like the all the characters. Im on Impel Down rn and started in May 2021 lol (im watching other anime along w One Piece) and it was definitly a good decision for me to get into. I also like the creative world Oda has in it
I’m very excited for you to get further into the series. Later on you will see some of the earlier characters that most of the time would have been forgotten about in other series all of a sudden be super important in some arcs. Also we have just started the climax of the story and it super exciting to really focus on the plot of the story after building up hundreds of characters and worlds.
You are gonna love the climax of the last arc, man Its the culmination of years and years of foreshadowing... Its freaking amazing how everything is still so consistent and surprising more than 20 years later
8:38 not only that but his editors told him to focus more on the main 2 characters because that's what fans wanted around the timeskip's time. So I think it would've happened regardless of his early burnout. I'd say One Piece's first S tier arc starts after chapter 320, so you need a lot of patience. But it does pay off.
@@kevinb5417 exactly powerful scenes like Noland flashback, nami asking Luffy for help leading to the arlong walk, the vivi goodbye, Blackbeard speech, and mihawk arrival all happen before water 7. Water 7 and enies lobby is just the arc where the emotions and story of one piece are at it peak but that doesn't mean everything before isn't S tier.
@@TyandOnGoing Personally the emotional highs of One Piece for me have been in Sabaody and Marineford. But I think Water 7 and Enie's Lobby are both comparably great.
@@kingrippzard2027 I said chapter 320, which is right before Water 7 starts. Enies Lobby, Sabaody, Impel Down and Marineford all happen afterwards. But out of all the ones you listed, I'd give S only to W7, Sabaody and Marineford. They are consistently great and suspenseful, when I think of them I don't even need to think of any particular highlight to remind myself why that part is top shit.
I caught up within 3 months last year and I thank God I got into this wonderful story. What’s there not to love, the comic goofiness, the adventure, the mystery and the lore, the characters, the world building, the story, the hype moments, everything is just so good. It has a way of bringing you so close to the Straw hats and experiencing the journey with them. Truly a masterpiece.
This is exactly why I love One piece. The world is connected, you get to learn more about other nations and islands and the events happening in these areas actually have an impact on the rest of the world. The characters have their own lives and goals and they don't just become completely irrelevant after one arc. The world of One piece doesn't stand still because we are following the adventures of the Strawhats. That subplots tie into the main plot and the arcs are all important, they are either part a saga or there are themes introduced that will be important in the following arcs. Each arc isn't just a wash and repeat like many people think, the events of that arc have impact on the rest of story.
I think the best part about one piece is how consistent it is. Nothing seems like it shouldn't be there, everything happens for a reason, and the end goal is always being worked towards in some way. It's a great series if you're able to get the motivation to dive into it
One Piece really isn’t that consistent. Every arc connects incredibly well. But that doesn’t make it consistent, esp in quality. The quality of each arc is up and down until a certain point until they just start to kinda be consistently good. Which is def a turn off
@@mlh1367 to sum that up you just don't like the start to arcs as there's a lot of information that gets dropped on you. Whole cake Wano Marine Ford Impel down All have great starts and through out the arcs too. Ones that start off eh are Dressrosa Zoe Water 7 These start off really boring.
one arc though, Foxy. I wonder if the Foxy arc is going to become relevant someday, because for now, it feels like a canon "filler" arc, since Foxy doesn't come up again and nobody references Foxy again. Nobody references a Davy Back fight again either.
True or there is no glaring moment that makes you kinda stop and think about like what happened to madara or in super the ending of the goku black arc. Like those kinda make you think that's it? almost but one piece kinda flows better or is more poetic for lack of a better term.
Watch more Seth please!! I can’t wait for your reaction to the story after water 7. I feel like for a lot of readers water 7 lifted the story to new levels and introduced so much must needed added plot. It’s also referred to as one of the best arcs in one piece
As a devout Dragon Ball fan since I was in 6th grade (about 9 years ago) and I started reading One Piece in March of this year and I’m on chapter 845 and I’ve got to say already I’m in love with Op at the same level I am with DB😂😂
One piece has always been my favorite of the big three, growing up on it I became attached to many of the characters in the story. Like how does Oda get me to like and feel for a character like Bon Clay who I originally thought was annoying? This is just a small part of what makes me like the story but the world it's self is just as enticing with it's creative islands and environments. Overall I highly recommend it and you are in for a treat with some of the next arcs enies lobby being my favorite.
@@x-immortalkill-x5596 Indeed I was way more into dragon ball and naruto but when I watched one piece it became my favourite anime, now caught up with the manga and waiting every week for new chapters. Started reading bleach too, mid way through it rn.
I really like your take, it was honestly important for new readers and watchers to know what they are reading. I had started reading it without knowing anything beforehand about the story, so many times I stopped reading and blamed the pacing, comparing it to Naruto's pacing. But as I read, I fell in love with the story and mainly Luffy who in my books the GREATEST MC OF ALL TIME. If u have enough time then just read it, you won't regret ngl. I also really loved the comparison between Luffy and Goku, Luffy was literally trying to kill Zoro for fighting a few men who gave him food but Goku still hesitated to fight Vegeta after he blew up innocent people.
Kinda funny how the moment that made you love Luffy as a character is to me, one of the worst moments in the series as a whole due to how uncharacteristic it portrayed Luffy, like Zoro was his first mate, the first person he trusted to join his crew, they were together for months now, they both entrusted each other with their dreams and ambitions, and all of a sudden, he just flat out refuses to believe in Zoro when he says that those guys tried to ambush them, even attacking Zoro and trying to kill him without even trying to hear what he has to say, rather choosing to believe on some shady people he only just ment, when just a few arcs ago he refused to believe Nami betrayed them and almost killed Zoro's friend for saying it.
@@jamesjones5023 that's not the point, it is about him choosing to believe in some shady people he just met rather than Zoro when it was already established in the series that he fully trusts in his crew even when it may seem that they were in the wrong
@@guilhermecastro5964 This is still early OP. They haven't known each other that long despite their trust in each other plus the fight was shown in a mostly comedic way so I don't get why people are saying it unrealistic or not in character when truly it was just a gag.
I'll never understand why people like you take comedy moments like this too seriously, the fight was just set up for the joke of them beating up Mr5 and Miss Valentine without even noticing them
@@Insouciant_Lyfê Dude, for less than that Luffy almost beat up Yosaku when he said Nami betrayed them and badmouthed her when he has known her for only a few days, he really hates when people talk shit about his crew no matter how long they have been together and that was shown as early as Arlong Park as far as i can remember, so it is in fact very uncharacteristic of Luffy to flat out refuse to believe Zoro and not even let him explain himself. And at least until Nami stopped them, the fight didn't have a comedic tone at all at least when it was framed on Luffy and Zoro, it was serious, Luffy was serious about fighting and killing Zoro, and even if it was the case of it being a joke, then it is a very bad one, because it actually misrepresent who Luffy is as a character.
I've been alone in the west with one piece for literally forever. Nothing compares. Im so jealous of everyone getting to experience onepiece for the first time. Oda is the goat. The depth to the story is on a whole other level.
This series gets crazier and more complex as you go with insane level of detail and plot threads constantly weaving through the major plot and foreshadowings coming to fruition in such mind blowing ways it’s incredible get ready because it just gets bigger and better
Idk if you are fanboying but One Piece dips in quality after marine ford and present time since Oda has already set most of ground work anything past Wano is on the up right now.

I am someone who put off watching/reading One Piece for a veeeery long time, but I was more than willing to watch the likes of DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, Gurren-Lagann and others all the way through multiple times. The thing that put me off personally was the length. However, when the big news of the 1000th chapter was rolling around, and I started to hear people at work and online talking more and more about it, I decided to finally jump in. September 2021 is when I started. By May 2022, I was completely caught up with everything in the anime and started reading the manga to fill in the rest. First of all, I want to say that websites and groups such as Anime Filler List and One Pace helped me *tremendously* in weeding out the excessive filler, and making the anime version a lot more watchable since I wanted to get caught up with the main story as quickly as possible and I'm more an anime fan than a manga fan. One Piece has been an amazing journey with all of the main characters showcasing just how good, loyal, strong, and deeply rich they can be. In terms of storytelling, it blew everything I've known before it out of the water, and I absolutely love how many times I end up being surprised by the unexpected, insanely curious of the mystery, and ecstatic to see a character return or get their comeuppance. It is fantastic, and to hear that it's still not terribly popular in the West is genuinely surprising to me. I love it, and it's great to once again be into a series that's ongoing, so I can wait for the next chapter or next episode to drop.
a joke i told my friends was "it gets good at around episode 500" and then my friend started reading it and i couldn't stop reminiscing about how good some of the characters he would meet soon and moments he would see be. i was surprised how good it really was haha and every back story is amazing in itself.
I remember Seth talking about OP ages ago and saying something like, "people think OP is God tier but I just think it's ok". He gave the impression that he had read some of it at least but later I saw that he just started. It was annoying hearing him talk about OP in a condescending manner when he didn't even read it, and when he did start he was already spoiled on many plot points and didn't attempt to avoid any more spoilers. Not saying he has to like OP but it felt like he wasn't giving it a proper chance. It's nice to see that he stuck with it and is enjoying for the most part. Can't wait to hear his take on OP powerscaling.
and the best part about one piece is that it just keeps getting better and better, if you just started reading/watching it recently you’re in for one hell of a ride 😭
Excited you like the series and Luffy especially. Always remember Plot>Powerscaling in this series.. (Oda himself confirmed it multiple times 👍) Can't wait to see read into further arcs💯

I’ve been watching one piece for about a year and a half now, took me a year to get through the first 150 episodes and another few months to get to Galley La. Now Ive binged past the Marineford Arc and still goin strong. Idk if its my favorite of the big 3 yet, for me its bleach but I havent finished TYBW so its too early to tell, however One Piece is quickly rising through the ranks of my favorite animes, easily top 5 maybe even Top 3 anime for me and I’ve been told it only gets better each arc and I just cant wait to see this story to its conclusion
I used to read the manga when I was younger, but quit because it began to feel like a chore. I was never really a fan of the art style, and I have been finding out as of recent that a lot of people have the same issues that I had when reading this series. I'm not saying it's bad, or anything. I can definitely see why people like it. I just can't get into it. One of the few times I actually liked reading the story was when I read it in a strait up novel version. It was the fist initial arc where Luffy meets Zoro. No pictures. Just words. My mom had bought it for me, not knowing what it was, trying to get me to read more. (I beleive I was in kindergarten, or the first grade at the time.) I'm not sure why I enjoyed that version better than the original. I'll almost always take a graphic novel over a regular novel. In that way, One Peice (despite boring me) has really given me a unique experience.
I actually just started watching the anime in September and I’m almost caught up. I love it, it’s funny the fights are awesome Luffy is a great protagonist and the world building is so grand that there are huge mysteries that were introduced in the first couple hundred episodes that still have no definitive answer. I will say the beginning is sort of a slog but Alabasta is when it really clicked for me. Part 1 is essentially Luffy building his crew and explaining the power dynamics of the world then part 2 is essentially a very long war/plan to take down some of the big time players that have a legit shot at being Pirate King over Luffy. So yes it does take a while to get GREAT but it’s good from the start and is definitely worth it
I love how it went from yea it has the unnecessary dialogue too it's definitely not the worst of the big 3 and having those tangents that are so worth talking about if u can say that after only a tenth of it, it that shows how amazing it is good video man
You stated at the start One Piece is one of the best-selling manga ever, which is a bit of a misnomer as it is by far the best-selling manga of all time with over 500 million copies sold, approximately 200 million more than the runner up Golgo 13 at 300 million, and just shy of twice as many as Dragon Ball at 260 million.
In my opinion one of the main things that could also influence for some, is the length of the series. its a bit intimidating and the fact that the series is still going making it longer the more time passes, like almost feeling you'll never catch up.
For me One Piece is so good to follow years after years after years. I would gladly do it again and discorver things weekly. Some things are so different after some events. We spend DECADES before learning it's Laugh Tale and not Raftel. We learned about IMU 21 years after the fine elders, 21 YEARS of lies ! If right now I have the choice between reading the remaining chapters till the end or waiting for every chapter each week I choose to wait without hesitation. So actually people taking their time to read almost 1100 chapter is a good thing. Take as many months as you want and don't rush. I was one of those people who REFUSED to watch one piece, whenever someone brought up one piece I would say something along the lines of “they need to end that show already, they’re just milking their fans at this point! Just find the dang treasure already”. One day I didn’t have much going on and with encouragement from a friend I decided to party watch with him to see what the hype was about. I can honestly say I had been missing out because I love this show, I love the characters & there are so many iconic moments and quotes in this show that are burned into my memory forever. I started in January 2022 & I’m 740 episodes in, overall it’s way worth the watch & there are filler guides on what episodes you can skip. This show isn’t like others when it comes to pacing & fights, the main villain could be within arms reach and it will take about 30 episodes for them to actually fight 😂 because there are usually other fights or things they have to take care of before actually getting to the main fight
I started trying to catch up for a year now. I'm now on episode 600 and I must say it is worth every second. There is such few filler that i've actually just watched all of it. After kinda learning about gear 5, I'm really motivated to catch up for no spoilers. But I'm also taking my time because I know how many ppl are jealous that this is my first time watching everything. If you like anime and haven't at least tried to start OP.....WHAT R U DOING!!!
I finished the manga this summer, I’ll admit that at times the story feels like it’s going absolutely nowhere at a snails pace. But when One Piece gets good, it gets REALLY good!
Seth and I are basically around the same point in our one piece journey rn lol. When he started making this video he was at the end of alabasta/start of jaya in the manga. Rn im at the end of the G-8 anime-only filler arc (which is widely considered to be the best filler arc in one piece and many fans actually want it to be canon). Cheers to us catching up to One Piece!
As a I’ve one piece fan, this video perfectly and most importantly, impartially, articulates why it’s such a fulfilling and rewarding watch. Couldn’t have put it better myself even as someone who’s up to date
I saw that tweet in August and thought you legit dropped the seires since there was no updates to it. Glad to see the video, hope you enjoy the foreseeable read, you're about to enter a really high quality strech of the story
Still love the old arcs even though they aren´t as grand as the newer ones, but they had their own charm :3 Arlong Arc is still one of my favorites :D And I love it when we get to see characters coming back and how they evolved - like you mentioned with Coby :) Naruto started so strong back then, with cool characters and fights and all that but it really left me disappointed when Shippuuden started :/

Fun Fact: One Piece manga has sold over 500 million copies (worldwide) becoming the second best selling comic ever behind Superman at 600 million copies (worldwide) .
I binged watched One Piece during the pandemic. It's definitely worth watching if you're planning to. Great arcs, great characters, great character flashbacks, badass moments, mysteries, sad memorable moments and more. Ofcourse its still has some flaws and one that I noticed is the pacing is slow but it is still worth watching. The story just keeps getting better and better every arc. Watch/read at your own pace and don't stress it out.
I waited to about 2018 or so before I finally sat down and binged it through my college finals. I essentially gave up on studying and everything else just so I could push through it all. I ended up getting caught up from the beginning all the way to the current episode at that time (full cake island) in roughly one month. I have never been more attracted to an anime other than Bleach on this level. The world building alone is on an amazing level. I try constantly to get my friends who watch anime to bang it out but they don't think it's worth it.
I understand the people who hate on it because it's long. But when it's all said and done, OP will go down as the GOAT. Its adapted with the times perfectly, unparalleled in sales and the progression from "funny pirate games" to the real story is sublime. If you had the option to be happier, why wouldnt you take it?

Goku didn't want to fight Majin Vegeta at first because he didn't want his power to be absorbed to awaken Buu but changed his mind after Majin Vegeta killed those people in the stadium benches and kept goading Goku to fight.
If you do One Piece power scaling versus battles on your channel, you’ll certainly gain subscribers. You’re the best at breaking down anime power systems and there’s a big fan base with One Piece that would love to hear your thoughts on hypothetical battles.
Glad to see more One Piece on the channel Seth. I often like your more narrative videos in comparison to the power scaling, though I’d love to see some power scaling when you catch up.
After watching one piece I realized Naruto could've been much longer without the need of fillers, the other villages could've been explored alot more, even the world overall, plus the many characters who got benched.
For oda having plans for all characters i think a good example of that is the kung fu dewgongs when they land on alabasta and you think it’s a funny gag then after you forgot about them because of the desert trek they show up to beat up the big fish it’s great
I just started watching one piece in November. And I actually love it. Being an a huge anime fan and understanding build up. I could automatically see where things were headed with character build up and nostalgia over time. Most things early on in one piece will play a major role later on in the show which I think is genius. As an anime vet tho I can say its a bit annoying that luffy really doesn't get interestingly strong until much later. Not to say that luffy isn't of course strong. But just waiting on that next level that ascension, I think thats when the show will really turn over..but I'm here for the wait I love the straw hats..
I didnt want to watch one piece at the start but when i got into it, it was great and then i got completely hooked at arlong park. Now one piece is my favorite out of the big three its just too beautiful. The world building, characters, etc makee it into a master piece of an anime. My honest opinion 9.5-10/10
This video encapsulates why I love One Piece. When I started focusing on the journey of the story, I didn't care about episodes although pacing is a different story. Everything feels connected or important, the character interactions are top tier as well and One Piece has those peak fiction moments.
I very much like your honesty about the series so far, is kinda refreshing seeing someone who doesn't automatically love One Piece and some people can relate to that. As much as One Piece is my number one, I very much agree with your opinion about the first half of Naruto, it's excellent and perfect in a way the Shippuden part never could come close
i 100% recommend One Piece. As Seth said each character feels important and A LOT of them have major significance in multiple points of the story. hell in the most recent chapters (ch 1050+) we got re-introduced to a bunch of them, some even from Alabasta (the arc Seth said he is currently in). And dont even get me started on the world building, so many tiny details that seemed insignificant throughout the story are constantly being put in new perspectives. Acting as foreshadowing without it being super obvious and will only make sense with new information the Straw Hats gain on their journey. When ANY character gets a backstory flashback be prepared to become completely invested in them, ally or villain. I actually got interested and caught up with one piece from a youtuber named Tekking101. i first started watching One Piece content in 2017 and he made Arc reviews going over each story arc. And for these past 5 years, even though i've only watched the first 12 episodes and only read some of the recent chapters online. I know almost everything about the story and i've been watching his weekly chapter reviews since 2017. I do plan on starting a physical manga collection for it although there are odd translation censorships. for example Zoro is Zolo because of the other swordsman named Zorro.

Yup oda will have you care about characters that you just dislike.

Some truth here for sure
That’s pretty much what I did when I got into the series. I mostly watched the anime but when the story felt like it was moving slow I would switch to the manga. I also think some people forget to skip the filler so the length just comes off as daunting to them.
Yea the anime is annoying. It almost feels like chunks of every episode is filler. Like repeated scenes and drawn out exchanges. I really can’t watch the anime
it's also because of 4kids. The exposure one piece got in the west was kind of ruined by 4kids dub. while naruto, bleach, and dragon ball, got some really cool voices and a proper team, one piece got cringe edits, character voices/accents, puns, and dad jokes.
yeah but the anime pacing doesn’t really get bad until marineford and timeskip. it’s actually watchable before hand

And I'm hooked once ya get past the introductions it's really easy to get caught up in the story
My prayers came true, one piece is a work of art in it's own right, when I watch the anime or read the manga I can't help but let myself get submerged in it's world building. The attention to detail, the cultures let alone the designs overall no matter how goofy just feel refreshing. The goofiness seems a turn off at the beginning but when you actually learn more about the world
Thank God Oda chose a goofy art style

It's just annoying as fuck that they often take up 5-7 minutes of runtime with the opening theme and recap not to mention even more sometimes when they replay part of the ending of the last episode, so really your only getting about 10 minutes of story progress if it's even a story progress episode and not a filler cause the end often take 3-4 minutes of end song and next episode spiel, out of a 23 minute runtime without commercials.
You are gonna love the climax of the last arc, man
Its the culmination of years and years of foreshadowing...
Water 7 is great, but arcs like Arlong Park, Alabasta, and Skypiea all belong in the S-tier conversation.
I’d say Arlong, Alabasta, a couple moments in Skypia, Water Seven, Enies Lobby, sabaody, Impel down, marineford all deserve S.

You caught up the perfect time mate. Look at how One Piece is non stop peak world building since the end of Wano
Thanks for this seth, iv watched one piece before but didnt realize the depth of the efforts taken for all of the material. Truly inspiring
Damn Seth, what a great analysis of not only OP, but other main shonen big dogs! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on later OP arcs.
Whole cake
Wano
Marine Ford
Impel down
All have great starts and through out the arcs too.
Ones that start off eh are
Dressrosa
Zoe
Water 7
These start off really boring.
one arc though, Foxy.
Its literally the biggest draw back from the show, It doesnt have consistency, and 90% of what happens feels like filler
I must be in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, Seth is actually making One Piece content.

Y’all must be really happy seth watch one piece 👍
Kinda funny how the moment that made you love Luffy as a character is to me, one of the worst moments in the series as a whole due to how uncharacteristic it portrayed Luffy, like Zoro was his first mate, the first person he trusted to join his crew, they were together for months now, they both entrusted each other with their dreams and ambitions, and all of a sudden, he just flat out refuses to believe in Zoro when he says that those guys tried to ambush them, even attacking Zoro and trying to kill him without even trying to hear what he has to say, rather choosing to believe on some shady people he only just ment, when just a few arcs ago he refused to believe Nami betrayed them and almost killed Zoro's friend for saying it.
nah luffy regularly tries to killy anyone who messes with people who feed him. it just happened in the manga this week

I really like how one piece shows loyalty and friendship and you can feel the energy from the characters
Excited you like the series and Luffy especially. Always remember Plot>Powerscaling in this series..
(Oda himself confirmed it multiple times 👍)
Can't wait to see read into further arcs💯
Good power scaling and power ups is just a part of a good Plot. So yea, that's why One Piece, Naruto and HunterxHunter>Dragon ball. The only thing I didn't drop was DBZ abridged. It was funny,it wasn't boring and Frieza didn't fight Goku for 3 hours.
But then when you do catch up you hope that it never does end lol
@@Mooinator3000 facts
For me One Piece is so good to follow years after years after years. I would gladly do it again and discorver things weekly. Some things are so different after some events. We spend DECADES before learning it's Laugh Tale and not Raftel. We learned about IMU 21 years after the fine elders, 21 YEARS of lies !
If right now I have the choice between reading the remaining chapters till the end or waiting for every chapter each week I choose to wait without hesitation. So actually people taking their time to read almost 1100 chapter is a good thing. Take as many months as you want and don't rush. I mean things like Rayleigh's introduction are way better if you take your time
I was one of those people who REFUSED to watch one piece, whenever someone brought up one piece I would say something along the lines of “they need to end that show already, they’re just milking their fans at this point!

Jeez dude. Your uploads have been hella consistent.
All OP fans who watch Seth waited with bated breath clutching their chests when they saw the notification for this upload. God help us all.
My reaction in a nutshell
I actually recently started reading too after avoiding it for being too long, but I'm up to the end of Enies Lobby now, and god damn is it good.
i 100% recommend One Piece.
@@ДавидГригорьев-ф3ж You couldn't be more wrong about Naruto and DBZ.
Yeah Naruto had an interesting story, but it suffered a decline in the War arc, giving it one of the worst endings in anime.
"It was boring and pretty stupid story without good plot"
Justify it being a stupid story without good plot
