Share the World is often one the favorite openings of any reactor - so you see me surprised. And opening 12 is thematically structured as it is exactly because of the Impel Down/Marineford arcs: It shows the former happy times of the straw hats (based on manga illustrations) that now have ended leading to Luffy fighting alone in a way more depressing environment. Although I needed a while for opening 12 now I really like opening 11-14 because together they tell a complete story.
Exactly "one day" is a great but underrated opening... Kokomo no chizu... deserves more appreciation imo.. And any Namie Amuro song is an S-tier... aka "we fight together" n "Hope"....
I think they started to make the openings longer when they stopped doing endings not just to pad the episodes. Also, I'm pretty sure the camouflage outfit idea came from one of Oda's cover pages/art pieces. He often draws the strawhats doing random things. There's more of those in other openings as well.(for example when Usopp was drawing on top of a hill in Crazy Rainbow)
I don't know what's more unforgivable: not liking We Are! or not liking Fight Together. They are my two favourite. We Are! for the nostalgia and whole hype feeling I get whenever I listen to it. It just summarises the spirit of One Piece. Fight Together is, for my, the best one hands down. The lyrics match perfectly with what the animation is showing and with what's happening in the story. I also love that it begins with Ace and Sabo, as they "Fight Together", but then it transitions to the SH crew as they "Fight Together" (that montage of everyone joining and re-joining always gives me the chills). I almost always cry when I watch this opening, it's just magnificent. These two, along with openings 15 and 20 compose my S tier.
one day at first wasn't my favorite but then I love it that i would put this song in S-tier i just love how different and somber yet an encouraging tone this song goes for.
@@Koroto yeah, I also think it has a lot to do with the world-building and my time watching the show. I loved the original We Are! but I was still very skeptical of the show as a whole during the beginning of East Blue. The remix came around as the world-building was really starting to be revealed (I’m a slut for good world building) and showcased every character you could think of, and it added to that sense of awe towards the world Oda had created while having the nostalgia factor of the first opening.
Yeah, I feel like with all the other versions of We Are! the whole repetition dimension is one I miss out on since I binged the entire thing. Hearing a different version of the original like 10 years later must've been incredibly hype, so maybe it's also that. And when it comes to the sheer scale that the OP presents - I can definitely agree with that. Seeing the absolutely MASSIVE world all boiled down to that one opening is a bit of a wakeup call as to how many adventures we've actually seen already.
I'm not sure if OP 13 - One Day is my absolute favorite One Piece opening, but If it isn't it's damn close. If you know what is coming it's essentially Toei simultaneously flipping the audience off and punching them in the gut while saying "fuck you, now feel these feelings and cry!", and I kinda love them for it. It's perhaps the most totally appropriate OP in the series, conveying that sense of isolation, loneliness, and desperation in Luffy that he's currently going through in the story while also providing so much gravitas for the animated intros of all the major players in the war. The OP almost makes me tear up just by itself with how it builds the emotions, and ... yeah, it hurts me and I love it for doing so.
You really have to watch the german version of „we are“ which is called „Die Legende“. It is really worth listening to, because it is so different and iconic in it‘s own way, I‘m interested in knowing what you think of it.
Let's see if koroto has taste. EDIT: 14:25 Sorry, it's BRAND NEW WORLD. And all the opening shots in that OP are adapted from the color spreads from the manga which can be pretty weird and out of context bizarre. EDIT II: Not the Share the World slander 😤 EDIT III: 29:05 The opening doubled in length after opening 8 (Crazy Rainbow) because they got rid of the ending songs. EDIT IV: 33:59 Denny get tested for covid, please. Loss of taste is one of the key symptoms. Personally, Op 14 Fight Together is still my top favorite among the openings, post timeskip ones included, followed by Op 13 as a close second. You do have taste, Koroto, but I still won't forgive the Share the World slander 😤

I used to agree about the we are remix, until I watched the Mother’s Basement video on OP openings and after the visual breakdown, I started to really like it, so much so that I’ve convinced myself it sounds ok too. But agreed at first I hated it.
As a one piece fan and hearing that one of my top 3 openings ( share the world ) was put as F tier made me realize that koroto really has a bad taste. Like that was a REALLY unpopular opinion since Ik so many people who like this opening

The only part I kinda like about OP 12 Kaze wa Sagashite is the first part... its like a Dream Sequence Luffy is sleeping and wake up like a school boy With all his crew members and Bizzare animals... While in the Actual story at that part luffy is separated from his crew... but i hate the second part the song is so cutesy but the Visuals is the most tragic war in the whole series.....

Just having suffered the separation from his crew and now facing all these things in succession, we see both sides of his current world. On the one side, he keeps daydreaming of the fun times spent with his friends... And on the other, he keeps facing the harsh reality alone... Perfectly represented by the fun, fantastic first part and the second sad and desperate one...
I'm not a big fan of OP 12 myself, partly because the tone of the song really doesn't fit the visuals in the second half or with what's going on. The moment that encapsulates this for me is when the vice-warden and a couple of other officers in Impel Down are giving a quasi-nazi salute, and the song at that exact moment breaks out in a childish, enthusiastic "YAY!" It just makes me cringe hard every time I see it.

Like Fight Tigether is my absolute all-time favorite and a solid S tier while 13 is just a low B for me because I find it drags to long and repeats the same slow beats too much. Also, small fun fact: The Straw Hats falling out of the sky in Opening 5 is a nod to them falling out of the sky when leaving Skypiea, since this is directly after that arc.
