how low do they go? Would they take a heavy beating with 500 watt monos. And my simaudio power amps and 850p pre amp?

Always nice to see big Tannoys out in the wild not least because they are built just 15 minutes away from my home here in Glasgow. In fact despite often being described as an English brand they've actually been based & built in Scotland for many decades. Thx 4 posting😉
When looking for a Tannoy dealer here in Florida, I was told by one particular shop that they quit carrying the brand after Tannoy move everything to China. Tried to sell me Fyne instead, saying they were "lightyears ahead" of Tannoy. Made me want Tannoys even more.
@@danielwilliams1921 Ha! Well the Fynes are made locally as well. Oddly, I've yet to hear a pair for myself but they seem to have gone down pretty well.
As for Tannoy, yes, the new owners did plan to move manufacture to China but then wisely had second thoughts. The whole Brit thing is so central to the company's mojo. So they remain built here in Scotland thankfully; you can let your dealer friend know next time you see him😉
@@billarmstrong5568 Fyne makes a good speaker, of course. But I wanted to audition Tannoy, not get some bullshit lecture. I ended up speaking with the owner (thru email), and he gave me the same story.

Yes I have a pair and they sound better with the amps I have, a pair of Kronzilla's. Stupidly good!!! :-)

I like the Tannoys a lot. A neighbor has these and their sound is incredible in person. I recently inherited a restored pair of Cornwalls IV so I am done at age 57 with my "ultimate" speaker quest unless of course someone leaves me a pair of Tannoys.
I wonder what the Dillinger escape plan sounds like through those.
