    At 4:31, I was referring to Ken's lack of proof to his claim. Saying that there was proof, but not showing that proof. I was not referring to Fil's "undesputable proof" I got a few comments that made me want to clear that up

      It’s not just that man… at 14:00 you start talking about how the debunkers are motivated by jealousy - Fil certainly doesn’t seem to be although nobody can truly know exactly what another’s motives are. You also say you feel sorry for Ken… he deserves all this and far more. The guy has smugly spent years blasting other singer’s live performances - as you mentioned with Mercury… Al green, Sebastian Bach, Dio… So yeah… he deserves it… and then he doubles down and denies his own fraud? He’s ridiculous…
      I think you’re off on those points. Otherwise good video.

      @@datacipher That's not what I was saying. Especially in Fil's case. What I said was people who are jealous or envious will feast upon this kinda thing. That is just human nature. I had a bit to say about consete in my voical course as well, how you need to have humility no matter how talented you are or people will be just waiting for you to fall. You are right that Ken deserves this, and I did say that he brought it on himself. But for the sake of the video I wanted to come across more diplomatic so that I don't come across as someone who is jealous or envyus. I am totally with you on your point. But there are plenty of much more vicious videos on the topic and I wanted to show some class.

    An ego problem, pure and simple. Ego over honesty. It isn't as though Fil (Wings of Pegasus) set out to destroy him. Somebody asked him to check out a video of Ken's, because he thought Ken was lip-syncing. That's was Fil does...he checks out videos people request. He objectively analyzed Ken's video and concurred about the lip-synching, using all the technical equipment he has. All of this brouhaha could have been avoided had Ken just admitted it. It wasn't a big deal that he lip-synched. He made it a big deal when he denied it.

The fact that he makes a big deal that any teacher must be able to perform live, then mimes, is called out for it with objective proof, and then blatantly denies it. It's the dishonesty.. Might as well just be playing Air Guitar. That's where it became dishonest. The singing bit by itself? meh. No one is going to begrudge a good singer a few mimed high notes during flu season, or whatever. But when put in context with the guitar "Solo". Then his integrity is damaged. Did it to himself. Using backing tracks and lip syncing are two different things. When bands use backing tracks (which is quite common as Ken correctly states) they are complementing their live sound (typically with backing vocals and/or keyboards). When singers lip sync, the pre recorded lead vocal is there and the singer is pretending to be hitting those notes. The criticism that Ken is facing, especially of his 2020 live stream of Livin’ for my Lord (which Ken deleted from his channel but can now be seen elsewhere) is not about backing tracks, but lip syncing. The deletion of the original video is very telling.

    Ken has a jealous missed the boat attitude against 70's and 80's singers no matter how great they were. He covers their stuff and finds ways to put them down because he is angry inside he didn't get in on the fame and fortune that we're available to obtain then that are now not possible. Ken needs to spend his time recording and pushing his songs hoping maybe just one will catch on and bring him a small amount of what isn't nearly as available as it was 40 or 50 years ago.... the fame, glory and money. He will never be Brian Johnson, Bon Scott, Coverdale, Plant, Brad Delp, Dio, Steve Perry let alone Freddie Mercury. Music does not have the value it once did and live music in most cases is not completely live anymore. Ken has a great career in comedy ahead of him if he wants. @28:00 "Once it comes to that" [lip syncing] "my career is over."
    Exactly.
    I retired in 2008 at age 37, because autoimmune disease took away my core strength, and I no longer have the vocal control I used to have. Oh, I can still sing, but not like before. I was struggling to hit my notes, much less hold them. If I did succeed, my body would be in so much pain that I often couldn't even walk for days after a gig. (Singing is a lot more physically taxing than many people realize!) Then I'd finally recover, only to have another gig. Lather, rinse, repeat. It was hell.
    It broke my heart, and honestly it still does, but I couldn't deliver the performances that I'd been known for, and my illness was progressing. I felt that I had no choice.
    I had a very heated argument with someone just a few weeks ago. This guy was insisting that I should just use autotune. (He also suggested lip synching.) I told him that I would never lower myself to putting my voice through a computer and faking it. I told him that I was a professional, and I was 100% authentic, and I would rather never perform again than to fake it. He thought I was ridiculous, but I still have my integrity.

It took a long time to really accept it, long after I made the choice to retire.

      @eldridge201 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm sorry but if you think Sebastian Bach still sounds good after all these years then you need some help. I'm not a skid row hater or Sebastian Bach hater by any means but Sebastian sounds like crap. He might be able to do a few songs here and there well but overall, he's not good and he needs to just stop. And whether you want to admit it or not, even though he was really good back in the day, I watched some of his older live videos and even back then he couldn't hit a lot of the notes that he did in the studio. That's the way it is with a lot of singers but I guess so tired of people acting like Sebastian Bach was all that as well as sliced bread and his bag of chips. He was never that great even back in the day but he is definitely not even remotely close to good nowadays. He's just not good. There are plenty of videos out there to back up my comments. If you want to ignore the truth, that's fine but it doesn't make it any less true. As far as Freddie Mercury goes, Freddy was great. I think most people would agree.

    • @eldridge201
      @eldridge201 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SuziQ. when you asked me to concede if Sebastian Bach is slightly less cringey than Ken tamplin, what do you mean as far as less cringey in what regard specifically? If you were talking about the singing ability of either singer, to be honest, I have barely listened to anything from Ken Tamplin and only have a small sample to go off of. I'm going to be straight up here and say that I actually liked skid row and some of their music when I was growing up because it was right around my middle and into my high school years so it was probably perfect for a person like me. Even though I wasn't necessarily into the more grunge rock type of music like Skid Row was, I liked their songs. I believe I bought their first album. But, I wasn't some super huge fan by any means. I just simply liked their songs. However, I already stated that I've listened to Sebastian Bach here and there over the years and watch some of his videos recently over the last few years and maybe even as much as 5 and 10 years ago and the bottom line is, he sucks. Even though I can't stand what Ken Tamplin has done and is doing, even though I've only watched the videos over on wings of Pegasus channel, I'm assuming based on those videos that Kim can actually still sing even though he's not the greatest out there as other people are saying that he claims to come off as. If I had to compare the two based on my small sample size, I would probably say that Ken can actually sing better than Sebastian bach. But again, I would have to watch more videos of either singer and they're more recent years to compare the two to give a fair and honest assessment. Again, I'm only going off of what I've seen and I've seen a lot more of Sebastian bach. Now, as far as Tamplin harming others with his singing program and fraud, I completely disagree with that and I think Ken is a pile of crap for doing that over the years. So, if you are referring to being cringy or cringe-worthy based on fraudulently scamming people to get them to pay to have vocal schooling or lessons through him, then hands down I think it would be can that is the bigger prick or more cringe-worthy than Sebastian Bach in that regard. But, again, it depends on if you're talking about their singing ability only or if you're talking about other things. Hopefully my response gives you my answer.

    Underneath all of this I believe lies another problem that not many singers talk about - the expectations of some "expert" listeners. I saw Katy Perry sing live on TV the other day and she apologized for not hitting some of the notes in full chest voice but transitioning to mixed voice instead to protect her vocal folds. She still sounded great to me and she only did what a good singer does to avoid health issues, still she obviously felt like she needed to apologize... And part of me thinks it was quite decent of her to even bring this up, making listeners aware who wouldn't have noticed and the other part, that's the singer in me was angry. Angry at the judgmental mindset so many ignorant listeners have that things like that are a sign of failure, that she "couldn't do it properly" which is just sad. The very same note can sound a little differently but when the pitch is spot on it absolutely shouldn't matter how the singer had to get there and only a bad singer would try to meet the expectations ignorant listeners have and run the risk of getting hurt. The voice is not always the same every day, sometimes you just have to adapt to the way it works and sing differently. This should be seen as a sign of professionalism, not as failure because, as I said, she still sounded good...

      All performers have to be slightly narcissistic. Basically, whether singer, instrumentalist or actor, we go out on stage (or film) and say to total strangers, “look at me, see what I can do!”. Without a touch of narcissism, we would freeze up completely. I’ve been performing (musician then later vocalist) since I was 7. I’m now 67, and for the first 10 years, while I could play in a group, any time I had to solo, or call attention directly upon myself, I almost threw up from nerves. It took that long to build my confidence and realize that people appreciated what I had to offer. I am and will forever be eternally grateful to the audiences that have been so supportive of my efforts.

    The only things Ken seems qualified to teach are: singing for a Skid Row tribute act, and creeping people out with your tongue.
    The arrogant smirk always bothered me on his song analysis videos. Those feel like an excuse for him to show off how well he thinks HE can sing their stuff. Which of course, he can't. (unless it's 80s metal)

    You mentioned Ken throwing shade on Freddie Mercury for going flat on the last note... I would rather hear a few imperfections during a performance when a singer has been overcome with emotion... My personal opinion... if you want it to sound exactly like the album... save your money.. stay home.. listen to the albums there!
    I have followed loads of local bands.. and I sometimes I prefer the live over the album.
    Both in the vocals and instrumental.

    The funny thing is Wings Of Pegasus left it at basically one analysis video until Ken made a very silly rebuttal literally forcing Fil to bring a whole lot more to the table and of course rightly brought attention to Kens nonsensical over-the-top reaction to his analysis. Very stupid and probably too late to recover.

    I have zero to none musical/vocal/instrumental experience or knowledge, but I love listening to music. In my completely uneducated opinion, I always thought something was off when Ken was singing or playing guitar. It just never looked like it was in sync, but I figured I just didn’t understand how recording worked. I usually only watched his channel when he was breaking down specific bands/singers performances which I thought was very interesting, but I just couldn’t stomach watching him sing.
