  • Today's video is about the history of Ford tractors! Ford tractors have been an important part of the farming industry for over a century, helping farmers worldwide work more efficiently and productively.
We'll begin with the early years of Ford tractors when Henry Ford had a vision of making tractors affordable to small farmers. We'll look at how he went about realizing his vision, as well as the impact Fordson tractors had on the farming industry.

Harry Ferguson basically invented the modern-day farm tractor with, three point linkage with draft control and making the tractor and implement a single unit controlled by a single leaver from the tractor seat.
The Ferguson system was demonstrated by Harry Ferguson to Henry Ford at Dearborn in the late 30s on the Ferguson type A tractor, which was built by the David Brown tractor company. The famous "Handshake agreement" was made between Mr Ferguson and Mr Ford to manufacture a tractor. The result of which, The Ford 2N and 9N were born. They are commonly known in Britain as the Ford-Fergy to this day.

The prototype is "The Black Tractor" which can be seen in the Science museum in London.

The info about 80s and 90s is completely wrong. Ford bought New Holland in 1986 and combined it with Ford tractor operations forming Ford New Holland. In 1991 Ford sold Ford New Holland to Fiat. It was combined with Fiat’s tractor business and the name was shortened to just New Holland. In 1999 New Holland merged with Case and CNH was formed.

@@316jd140 it's an incremental improvement, just like my 600 was an improvement over the NAA. But don't you see what I'm talking about with this video not getting basic concepts that any farmer familiar with fords understands? The video suggests that the NAA was a major revolution in tractors and just glosses over the 9N and 8N. The only features my 600 has over an 8N is live hydraulics and the low range transmission coming stock. It weighs a little more and the ohv engine gives it 4 more horsepower. The video missed, among countless other things, that the NAA was an evolution to keep up with Massey Ferguson while the 9N was the revolution invented by Ferguson, which they don't even mention

I gave up on this video at the 4 minute mark. You could have found more accurate, relevant information
just using Wikipedia. Ford started his own tractor company in 1918 because the Board of Directors wouldn't fund the project. Ford had already invested ten years of development into farm tractors before ever founding Fordson. Ford quickly became the highest volume producer of tractors in the world following his theories of high volume mass production and low priced product. Unfortunately, Ford lost money on every tractor during the 1920's as he priced them with too little margin for profit. The 9N of 1939 was a radical departure from tractor manufacturing because of the Ferguson three point hitch. This truly was the tractor that allowed even the smallest farmer to move away from using horses and be far more productive. At about 20 draw bar horsepower, it was about half as powerful as most other small tractors but performed more work because of the design of the hitch and implements. This was a great advantage to Ford in the tractor market until the middle to late 1950's when the horsepower race took off in the farm tractor world. The great advantage of the 1920's era Ford tractors was that you could maintain them yourself with the same knowledge and skills you had learned to maintain your Ford car.
You had a great subject to work with here. A shame you wasted the ban width with what you produced.

Fordson tractor company was a completely different company from Ford,
It was named Fordson due to another businessman taking the name "Ford Tractor co"
But it was complete different enitiy and company from Ford.
As the directors of Ford Motor co. Did'nt want Henry Ford to build a Tractor.
    They were not innovative.
as Farmall and John Deer gained market share.
Henry Ford did not want to change or upgrade its Tractor.
and thus they lost Market share in America
and International and John Deer cornered the market in America.
