  • John Deere Tractors EVOLUTION From Then To Now Is INSANE!
Welcome back to Down On The Farm, today on the channel we are going to feature the Evolution of John Deere tractors. The John Deere tractor is one of the most enduring icons of American farm life. The John Deere tractor manufacturing company was founded in 1837 and the story of its founding is tightly interwoven with the development of the steel plow. Deere’s desire to improve on an imperfect plow design resulted in the founding of what became the leading tractor company in the world for 177 years, known today as the Deere Company.
The story of the company’s founder dates back to 1804 when John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont. He began work as a blacksmith apprentice at the age of 17 and set up his own smithy business within four years. Deere’s work consisted of making hay forks, horseshoes and other necessary implements for farming. The nature of his chosen trade, combined with the local economic climate made it necessary for Deere to move from town to town. By age 33 he decided to move westward, coming to rest in Grand Detour, Illinois. Much of John Deere’s work involved repeatedly repairing cast iron and wooden plows, proving to him that these plow designs were not strong enough to cut through the prairie sod and heavy soil of Illinois. Making design changes of his own, Deere built a lightweight polished steel plow from a broken steel sawmill blade. More about the Evolution of John Deere tractors when you finish this video.

You should do the history of Massey Ferguson since they did make some pretty innovative stuff for the farming industry like the 3 point hitch

Glad to see some one remembered the Daine!!! I think that it was the first tractor manufactured under the John Deere name. As I recall in the 1970s Deere did not want to recognize it as a Deere! It took losing a lawsuit before Deere would admit to admit to building them!!

You would be with modern tractors cause they suck, but the 30-55 series tractors would be an absolute investment into your future. The 55 series is the best tractor John Deere ever made and I personally think the best tractors ever made when it comes to power, shifting ease, comfort, and fuel efficiency.

@@toverublacksmithing9196 Was the 55 series still running that sound guard cab with the big ass join down the middle and the cab filter you pulled out from the inside ?? Imho the best tractor ever made was the 7000 series Magnum Caseih, these things go forever.

Okay let's look at some facts JD has always copied the other manufacturers, most of the other brands had multi cylinder inline engines from the early 20s
JD was running those primitive ole putt putts till 1960 !!! .Massey ,Oliver,IHC ,Ford etc pioneered and perfected everything from hydrostatic transmissions ,three point linkage, pto drives, powershifts etc etc.JD copied the IHC axial flow combine to the letter even down to the 30" rotor and New Holland twin rotor in the new X 9 series. JD has always saved money on R @ D and waited till the patents expired on others designs then swooped in.The smallest book in history is JD inventions.

That was a really stupid comment. Maybe those ex-manufacturers should have copied Deere's manufacturing and marketing abilities.
