Very interesting video. John Deere is not the same company.
The products made are ok but the competition has just as good for less.
The biggest down fall for Deere is their illegal monopoly on repairing equipment that a farmer owns but cannot work on it himself.

Ya can say what ya want about Deere bc all large corporations have “skeletons in the closet”, but it’s pretty remarkable they’ve remained the same company since their beginnings. Every other tractor & equipment manufacturer has either merged, or been sold out to mega-conglomerates, except Kinze? You need a week-long series’ documentary to go through the history’s of all the other major manufacturers (including Case IH), to figure out where they started and where they’ve ended up.

Great historical review! Keep focused on the fundamentals and your customers, Deere! About ten years ago, while there was so much talk about the demise of American manufacturing, I took a tour of the Waterloo Tractor Works. My faith in American ingenuity was immediately restored!

It's corn. Green is the plant & Yellow is the ears.
As a matter of fact, Illinois grows more corn than any other US state.
AND, the US grows more corn than any other AG product.

John Deere definitely lived an interesting life, he lived a long life too, considering the average life expectancy at the time frame he lived. Wasn’t the biggest fan of John Deere’s tractors, IH definitely had the better tractors, plus they were an even bigger company than John Deere. IH had more experience in the tractor business, they started with the IHC Mogul in 1902, Case has the most experience in the tractor business, they were the largest and best manufacturer of the Steam tractors. The part that was left out was the part where John Deere merged with Yanmar. That’s why nowadays the smaller hp tractors all have Yanmar engines in them. By now every major farm equipment manufacturer has merged with another company, there’s not a single company anymore. CaseIH is a merge of the two oldest tractor manufacturers, not a terrible thing. The fact that John Deere is still John Deere name is only because there’s still family that runs it. He got lucky, and had 8 kids. Which allowed for family to run it for the next generations. Nowadays the equipment is way over priced in my opinion, majority is for the name, they’ve turned the name into a trademark, and profit off it. CaseIH is still building quality farm equipment, that majority of the cost you pay is for the quality, and not the name. Even John Deere parts for their stuff is over priced, it’s all cause if the name. John Deere equipment is still good, way better than something from India, or some other weird country, but John Deere prices won’t help your budget plans by no means. Even the older stuff is expensive to own, you can buy the tractor for a decent price, but if it’s cheap, it usually means it’s already wore plum out, and your gonna have to work on it before you can use it, and nobody hardly carries parts for them except well, John Deere. Which means they get you twice. They get you for buying the tractor, and they get you again, when they need maintenance, or repairs. No modern tractor is cheap to work on by no means, to many computers and sensors, on all the brands nowadays, but if you go with an older Farmall or IH tractor, at least parts for them are cheaper, and readily available in a lot of places, even if you can only afford aftermarket, you can find parts that work on most Farmall, or IH models for a reasonable price. IH didn’t change stuff on they’re tractors every year, like John Deere did. John Deere does this to keep aftermarket company’s from being able to make parts very fast, and they make the tractors in a way that aftermarket parts don’t even fit right, because the dimensions for the parts, is restricted, to John Deere themselves, so in order to get parts for a John Deere tractor that fits, and functions like it should, you pretty much have to get the parts from John Deere. You can by some aftermarket stuff for the antique John Deere tractors and equipment, but it won’t fit exact, or last very long because of the lack of fit and functionality.

You also have no idea what your talking about there are dozens of companies that sell parts for John Deere and it the only farm machinery company that hasn’t sold out to somebody unlike your IH. It all depends what color fender you grew up on .all the colors have there ups and downs. Give facts next time not opinion. You sound like a democrat

Deere's prices are high? We have run Deere since the 40s and they are not higher priced than anyone else. Case builds quality equipment hahaha guess you aren't around much of it. Blue equipment painted red. You don't become the largest ag company in the world by chance.

John deere was superior to ih and case, history proves that and john deere is the biggest today and still independent. Ih disappeared and case absorbed to being an offspring of new holland. You say because of the name, well the name carries a merited reputation and thats why John deere is what it is.
