    I love how in depth you blokes go to explaining every step of the process, no matter what you are working on! Great video guy's and keep them coming!
    From your engineering background, do you think rotors make decent power for their displacement?

    Great work guys, hopefully this sheds a little light on the time and pain that goes into fixing other peoples mess. I know so many people that just see oh the parts online are not that expensive, surely its not that hard to "bolt it up". 🤣

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      HAHA yeh we understand that people are going to do this anyway, thats why we try our best to provide all the information and parts needed to do a proper job. Some people just shouldnt be near engines though.

    G’day mate just watching this vid and noticed you said the harmonic balancer pulley for Barra is the same as the LS pulley.
    I know they are the same design but can you tell me for sure if a Barra pulley will work on LS and a LS pulley work on Barra?
    If so this may save me some money in the future.
    Cheers lads and great vid👌

    I just watched a youtube guy change valve springs using the piston at TDC to retain the valve, no pressure and enough height to put the new spring on, worked perfect (Barra))

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah thats pretty cool! Few ways to skin a cat. the old school way we used to do it on Chevs and Fords was to shove bunjee chord in the plug hole. It would bundle up and hold the valves closed at TDC then just pull the chord out and bobs your uncle.

    Hi mate,
    I recently did a valve spring change ,put everything back together,fired her up and noticed a rattle,
    on the intake side around 2000rpm over that it goes away then comes back on deceleration around 2000rpm.. what do ya reckon that is fellas? Buggered lifters? Cars done 98k

    If you are starting to get more barra”s you can get a special built tool for the valve spring remover and replacing them and I don’t think they are really expensive and they were made so you can do the springs in the car and you can see a video of one being used on that green FG that you have seen and tried to sort a R33 he had which looking back hindsight and you see a guy that works out were he got his FG done and then same thing just flicked him and the extras he got to help and saved money. Or you could probably call Real Dyno Performance and ask lee were you can purchase the valve spring tool and he would happily tell you because his old school and happy to help anyone with a couple of questions. He did my car and I got fuel pump intank 1000cc injectors a-line my turbo so the flapper works with the turbo I got a second hand exhaust off one of his other client and dyno I said not to try for max out of the motor he ended up getting 411rwhp and he said I should do my cams ASAP which I did and this was all done last year just before powerplay July. He said he didn’t know what it was about the car but he said he had never felt any of the cars he had done but he really enjoyed it and I would as well since I had V8 torana first car and then V8 VS Ute second car and then the fastest one 2.8 turbo Pajero 98 model and then my BF the other things he said I should have done is put a trans cooler and either bypass or remove the fluid heater box the autos have as they en up wrecking the box petty quick and there’s a metal plate you can get and then you only have to get a pan gasket and fluid a the autos have a plastic box cover which you have to get every time because they are one and throw and the price of the alloy one is the cost and half of the plastic ones so no brainer alloy for me and I have the PCMTEC in my cruise control so I can choose what Setting I want out of three and the forth is velvet parking and won’t rev over 3000. Also if you are replacing cams and they are getting ones Ford use then try get the BF series 2-3 cams if you can because they get heaps of little pits on them from after those ones ie-Fg-FGX well hopefully you get a couple of things from this and it helps you with making it easier. See you at powerplay I’ll have a couple of runs with you and my son will be digging it he watches your TH-cam with me it will be his second time on the track.

    nothing wrong with the turbosmart setup the hole needs to be bigger to make it flow correctly

    Hey mate I’m looking at doing the same thing how much more drama is it to pull the head off I’d like to do the head gasket while I’m in there just to get it don’t is is as easy as pulling the head bolts and pop it off or nah
    Cheers

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But more involved as you need to remove intake + exhaust manifold, but still easier to do all that while you’re going. Much easier to do this job with the head on a bench also

    Nice work, how come you pull the front cover off? You’d save so much time keeping it on. But I spose in this case lucky you did because you had to fix other people’s work haha

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh we dont have the correct tools to lock the cams to remove the phasers. Honestly I rather remove the cover anyway, its less than an hours extra work and I sleep better at night knowing for sure that its timed correctly when it goes back together

    • @juliangagliardi1367
      @juliangagliardi1367 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @charlieg5360
      @charlieg5360 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can pull the vct phaser off with the cam once you release the tensioner. If it'll help you sleep at night you can rotate the engine up to 38 times till the marks line up with tdc.
