Haven’t finished this video yet but I’m early so I just want to say I adore your always creative content, Laurie!! Rewatching your videos during the pandemic has become a comfort for me. You always seem so genuine and unafraid to give your honest opinions/reviews because you’re equally critical of your own works of art as you are with other bakeries you feature on your channel. You and Kevin have such a lovely dynamic too, and I couldn’t help but grin whenever the two of you interact :)

Most of the time it's not the ingredients that is expensive - basically flour, sugar, eggs and vanilla. They dont cost that much! It's the time, effort and expertise that costs.
"I don't think people eat raw rhubarb!" My mom used to give me a stalk of rhubarb and a little container of sugar - it's really good if you dip the cut end in sugar, bite off, dip again...

In Finland we eat raw rhubarb! :D It grows like everywhere. I think I don’t know anyone who doesn’t grow rhubarb in their yard here in Finland. You should not eat it too much at a time, it causes tummy ache :(

Hi Laurie - I've never commented on one of your videos before but I have to say I enjoyed this foray into traditional French patisserie! I'm not sure if you did it knowingly, but what you've made is essentially an entremet. They're ridiculously complicated desserts but they are so so good! I would love to see you try your hand at French baking but also more patisserie, it's just really elevated and lovely, and I think you'd really enjoy how you can combine funky flavors and end up with something spectacular, just like you did here.

These types of videos are always so much fun lol. I've actually tried making a few cakes out of grocery store cakes and it was a lot of fun! Mine weren't that pretty of course since I'm a rookie, but it was a blast.
When I was making strawberry rhubarb jam it called for macerating both the rhubarb and the strawberries overnight in sugar. The next day both bowls were filled with fruit in syrup. I tasted a small chunk of rhubarb and it had soaked up a lot of sugar and given up a lot of water. It was delicious raw. Sweet, tart and crunchy. You can eat it raw but it is naturally sour and it's a vegetable not a fruit! It also makes a good sub in smoothies for lemon if you don't soak it in sugar.
My nan had the biggest garden I've ever seen. All kinds of veggies and fruit. And I remember going to her rhubarb plants and just eat raw rhubarb as a snack, I loved the way it tasted, but I was a child then. So I don't know if I'd still like it now that I'm 23
Mom used twinkies to make strawberry shortcake. One twinkie per person with macerated strawberries & cool whip. I’ve always scaled them “____ (our state) strawberry shortcakes.” Lol, it’s the only way I’ll eat a twinkie because they’re not my favorite. ☺️
That marble one was a thing of beauty. This is a great dessert for a shower or tea service! In fact, I'd love to see you create an entire high tea. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do that on TH-cam (apologies if I've missed something!).

I love this! Honestly I would love to see something like this but a wedding cake? 🥰🥰
Leona says - can you do a cake that is just one layer? And happy summer ❤️
Hello Rachel how are you doing 👋👋👋👋
Yes! I love this! Would love to see more videos like this!💕
Mom used twinkies to make strawberry shortcake. One twinkie per person with macerated strawberries & cool whip. I’ve always scaled them “____ (our state) strawberry shortcakes.”
Lol, it’s the only way I’ll eat a twinkie because they’re not my favorite. ☺️
this was really gun to watch and they turned out so cute and look yummy. Also the pink hair is adorable
Fabulous creative content! And what a joy to see you make those amazing substances with all different flavors, ingredients and chemistry.
That marble one was a thing of beauty. This is a great dessert for a shower or tea service! In fact, I'd love to see you create an entire high tea. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do that on TH-cam (apologies if I've missed something!).
