Ann, I'm 47 and when I was little my mom would take me to the public library. There was a wonderful woman that would read stories to the children and give the adults time to find what they needed. She would read fantasy books with dragons and fairies, it was such an amazingly positive time in my life. You sound just like her and when you are making something or saving something you give me that same feeling of wonder and joy watching you work your "magic"! This is one of the best channels on all of TH-cam, thank you Ann for everything you do!
Oh wow. I can so relate! Slightly different Aussie accent (I'm in Perth, WA) but the same passionate imagination and storytelling magic as my library lady. I thought she was amazing. We had Roald Dahl come and read stories at my school when he was on a tour and he was nowhere near as good, I think l even told him that 🤣😂🤦♀️
One of my favorite cakes my mother ever made started out as a near fail. It was a cheesecake that had cracked down the middle. We had blueberries growing in our yard, so she took a bunch that we'd already picked, cooked them down into a thick jelly, and poured it into the crack. As I recall, she called it "Grand Canyon Blueberry Cheesecake."
@Bee Whistler I worked at a Whole Foods market, and some old man threw an temper tantrum because his sourdough bread had a dent on the top. He said the product was damage and therefore inedible lmao
The pool cake was so cute! "Put an appropriate toy depending on what character your child is currently obsessed with", I'm 20 and I would still absolutely love to get a cake like that.
@@HowToCookThat Did I spy a Splatoon mini watergun on that cake or was it perhaps just a similar-looking toy? I was thinking to myself how I didn't know what to include on such a cake and it hit me like a ton of bricks when I saw the watergun. Yes. As long as the cake tastes good, you can almost always make it look nice. No panic, no throwing a bunch of stuff away. Just cut it out into pieces, assemble it like a Frankenstein's monster and cover it up with icing, whipped cream, fondant, or chocolate... It will be great!
I was making a gingerbread layer cake for a Christmas brunch several years ago and it fell apart coming out of the pan and there was no way to make a cake out of it. Thankfully I had the buttercream plus some whipped cream and some caramel sauce in the back of the fridge, so I tore the remnants into chunks and made a layered trifle --- it was the hit of the dessert table and now I make it every year.
Natalie uses that unique green buttercream of hers as a trademark. She explains in one of her videos that she saw people taking her videos and claiming them as theirs or something like that. That’s why she started using that color buttercream. Those who know her lime-green buttercream signature can spot her work when others show it
As soon as hyper realistic cakes came up, my first thought was SideSerf! I love that you made sure to point out that she has problems with her videos being stolen and uncredited to spread the word to new audiences. It's why she uses the fluorescent green icing now. I love watching all your content but it just mesmerises me when you bake.
@@hana_flower875 it doesn't prevent it, but it is her trademark, so if you see it on another channel or website, you can guess that they stole the video/that she made the cake.

Using the bright green icing is actually genius! A way to watermark it without actually adding a watermark that could easily be edited out. Very clever!
The green icing is pretty effective! In Mr. Beast's Willy Wonka video, everyone who was familiar with Sideserf knew that she made the toilet cake since it had her signature icing
Ann, I'm so glad you stepped in to be the Aussie mum the world needed. Have you ever thought about doing an episode on traditional Australian bakes, like lamingtons, ANZAC Biscuits, pavlovas etc?. They're good recipes for new bakers. Also, maybe find an old CWA cookbook and follow the recipes, especially when Australia still had rations.
Well she has def made many a pavlova - but I would love to see some of the other things - I always love seeing various "This is the food/treat/dessert/favorite from my country" type makes ESPECIALLY for countries that Americans sometimes think don't have other foods. I know a lot of people think other than Veggiemite and Marmite that Aussie foods are 100% the same as the stereotypical American foods - which is such a weird thing to think for any country lol.

Fun fact the reason why the lady in Sideserf Cake Studio uses GREEN frosting inside her realistic cakes is because everyone else just uses plain white frosting so if you see green frosting inside a realistic cake, you know it's STOLEN footage of her cakes. Thanks Anne for not only always giving credit where it's due, but making a point of telling your audience how they work hard only to often get their stuff stolen.

One of my favorite things to do with pineapple upside down cake is to place the brown sugar/butter mixture, pineapple, and cherries in the fridge for 10 minutes (whilst in the pan) to let it set before pouring the batter! Then, once you pour in the batter, everything stays where it should. Thank you for all the great content, Ann!
I love how you always have a way to turn a cake fail into a cake rescue. It reminds me of Bob Ross saying, There are no mistakes, only happy accidents. Thank you for showing me some tips on how to rescue any messed uo cakes I might make.
Ann, I just wanted to say you inspire me so much. I've never been the best baker but your videos have inspired me to keep practicing and now I'm actually able to make cakes and desserts that I'm actually really proud of. So thank you Ann
These are my favorite videos on the channel! It's fun, creative, and optimistic. I actually did a minor cake rescue a few months ago. My daughter was turning 8 and wanted a Minecraft cake. My partner makes great cakes but his style is more traditional (he made wedding cakes for his sister and my brother). He was trying to make a beach scene with cake for dirt, rice cereal treats for sand, and blue jello for water. It wasn't working out and he was getting frustrated, it just didn't look very good. So I suggested that instead of doing a scene we did it like an inventory box. I took all of the pieces, cut them into individual squares and just put them in a glass casserole dish with a lid with no attempt at looking like anything but a box of squares. Worked great! Our daughter loved it, and all of the kids had fun picking their squares out and built their own little scenes!
I was not expecting to see Natalie Sideserf mentioned here, but it was a pleasant surprise! As always loved this video, I really like this Cake Rescue series. Thank you!
I love the positivity in this series so much!! other fix-it videos would have this tone of "you have done wrong" for comedy, which is understandable, but I love how gentle you are in this series. Mistakes are solvable and not a big deal, and an ugly cake won't ruin the whole experience bc you still had fun baking and you still get to eat it. I'm not a baker but this has been such a wonderful lesson to bring with me when creating other forms of art

DIYs aren't as easy as some people think
Ann feels like a friend and a role model despite never even meeting, you inspire and touch a lot of people and thank you so much for providing such great examples and being the kindness in the world that gives me hope
I watch her videos (sideserf) and she really is good. She showed one of her frist skull cake she did for a party and did a new one, and the different in skill showed how much she put effort into her art work. And how they don't always turn out how u want the first time.
The first cake reminds me of the "Vacherin glacé" we have in France which is super delicious and uses meringue disks and also whipped cream which is absolutely delicious
I could listen to say the word "chocolate" all day long. That cremeux cake looked unreal. Imagine being your friend and having you drop off these types of insane desserts?! That would be super amazing! Hope your friend is feeling better now!
I commented this on another cake rescue video but here's again, my favorite way to rescue a cake: Just crumble the whole cake and put cream cheese or frosting in it like you're making cakepops, then in parchment paper put the cake dough and with a rolling pin make a rectangle, then you can fill it with wathever you want; then roll the cake and chill it in the freezer or fridge for a while, you can decore it after but I don't really do it (specially if it's chocolate cake bc it looks really smooth on the outside) and you have a pretty cake roll 🥰
You both @sideserfcakestudio and ANN are my favorite content creators that i found and watch with happiness I'm really glad that you also pointed out about stealing content withgiving artist the credit And honestly NATALIE'S way of using green butter cream as her sign is so creative You both are so creative 🥺💜
the ice cream cake one reminded me of DQ cakes. they do freeze their cake tins when making an ice cream cake, but the process is basically the same as how Ann showed. they do make a small cavity for the cookie crumble so instead of whipping cream, they make the edged lines on the ice cream itself
This is one of my favorites too! I love the creativity, and it has helped me in real life as I have created cakes that didn't quite go as planned. But I didn't stress, and listened to the calm Aussie voice in my head telling me to freeze the cake, and try again the next day!
Ann I’m so glad you gave Natalie a shout out ❤ I loved this video and I’m extremely happy that your video warning about the lightening wood thing is back up! Lots of love from Scotland 🙋🏻♀️
I love you for mentioning Natalie Sideserf. I've loved her since her Texas Cake House days. Natalie is criminally underrated and deserves a lot more attention. Fun fact: My younger brother thought that Natalie's actual name was Texa and the show's name was Texa's cake house.
Another awesome cake rescue. I used to be a cake decorator and do all kinds of stuff when my daughter was little I made her a giant castle cake but it got so hot it started breaking apart. No matter what I could do it wasn't fixing because it's too big to stick in the fridge and all that everybody is already there and everybody kept opening the kitchen door to the outside and that's why it was even hotter. Instead of completely freaking out I went and got some butcher paper which I had and made caution tape and wrote pretty but dangerous fit for my daughter and the castle. Now unfortunately due to permanent nerve and muscle damage not only can I not decorate cakes anymore but I got told by the occupational therapist with all my stuff there's no way I could go back to my field. I knew I wanted to be a chef from a young age and went straight to culinary school right out of high school didn't even take off summer even when culinary school had summer I didn't take it off I took additional classes and that's where I learned how to do the cake decorating.
Absolutely stunning cake rescues. I've made all of these mistakes in the past, now I have some ideas to fix them. The swimming pool idea was absolutely inspired. I never would have thought of that.
Thank you for that quick little trick on how to size your parchment paper for a cake pan. It's one of those things where I never even thought to do it like that and it makes so much sense. Thank you for solving that kitchen conundrum! Your tricks are the best
These were all great saves. I could have used your help last week, as I was trying to make cream cheese buttercream frosting, and I ended up with a grainy puddle. I assume the problem was with the temperatures, but I never figured out how to save my frosting - or if it was even possible. Luckily, I had enough ingredients for Swiss buttercream - it has never failed me.
Honestly, IDK why people don't just look at your videos first. You explain things so precisely yet so simply so that anyone can understand. You truly are incredible, Ann. I'm so glad there are people like you teaching others How To Cook That
These always look so good! Unfortunately, I'm allergic to both eggs and milk and will never be able to try any of these recipes :-( I'd love to see a video on good substitutions (not just for allergies, but also for when you've started a cake and realize you are out of something)!
Have made many many pineapple upside down cakes. From experience: the caramelized butter (I use brown butter) and sugar topping is the best in presentation AND flavor. If you do it right it doesn't need ice cream. Also, toasted coconut should be liberally spread after fruit and before batter. Good texture. Brown butter and brown sugar, pineapple and cherries in your pattern of choice, coconut, batter, bake. Also, for best results you want a good golden cake mix to doctor. Yes, I'm serious. Pillsbury, with brown butter (again) and pineapple juice instead of water. Unrestrained summer fun.
My kids and I love watching your videos (they especially like the mini kitchen and Dave’s reactions to the horrid viral recipe hacks). I can’t wait to show them the Bluey cake! Now I know what they will request for their birthdays this year! ☺️
I love your rescue videos. You always approach the original post with kindness and empathy, and I never guess what your plan is for the rescue until the reveal.
I love how kind you are in all your cake rescue videos, lots of people make fun of people when they fail, and that makes it hard to accept that failing is okay.
Love these vids Ann. Also love your more rare, esoteric ones like the old recipes. The more problem solving, science-adjacent videos are super interesting!
I really appreciate your rational problem-solving for these fails. It really shows how having an expert show you the correct steps makes a BIG difference!
Finally a cake video!!!! Couldn’t think of a better way to start off my friday than with a freshly cake rescue vid ❤️ thanks Ann! And PLEASE continue with this series!!
With the second cake, as the middle was scooped out, I thought Anne was going to make cake pops. I was like, "ah yeah! I can do that!" Final product was nothing like cake pops. Amazing! Not sure I can do that, but love watching your videos.
Oh my god your trick for cutting the baking paper to the size of the cake tin literally just changed my life. That's genius! I always struggle with getting the right size paper. No more!
so sweet of you to bring cake to your friend with covid! My whole family got covid right around christmas and were all feeling super down about missing the festivities and not seeing our family. One of my mom's friends dropped off a bunch of homemade baked good and it really made us feel better that someone was thinking of us during that time.
Great cake rescues as always. It always makes me laugh how sometimes you don't manage to fail even when you're trying to (like with the pineapple cake) because you're just THAT good! Also, awesome to see you give a shoutout to Sideserf Cake Studio - I discovered her recently and she's an incredible talent!
I saw a rescue of you before, where you made that failed cake and rescued that. Loved that way because it said that every messed cake can become a beautiful one. But this is just make the cake in a better way. Okay, it’s ice cream and hard to rescue it. But I prefer the other one I saw.
My mom and older sisters where always cooking and baking when I was growing up. I learned a lot from them especially since one of those sisters went to culinary school and later made wedding cakes.
I did something similar to the pool hack for a birthday cake based on another older video, and the coconut and dinosaur lollies really saved the day - these helpful hints are priceless!
I was recommending your dessert book to a friend and she said she could never bake like that, like I do. So I handed her a spare copy of Rose Levy Beranbaum's Cake Bible and said "You don't start with this." I pointed to your book and said, "You start with that and work your way up to this." I spent so many hours with trial and failure, but I'm a scientist, so I was used to the disappointment. You make failure fun and a challenge. I love your videos.
You say there’s no way it takes 5 hours to make a pineapple upside down cake but one time it took me 6 hours to make macarons and that’s not including breaks or cooking time. I have no idea why it took me so long, I didn’t even like mess it up, I guess I just worked incredibly slow.
I watch your videos to help my depression and anxiety. I like to pretend you’re my mom sometimes, as lame as that sounds. I can’t sleep right now because I’m too sad, and your videos really cheer me up, thanks 💕
I am no expert at baking cakes like you but I have made tons before and always greased the pan with flour. My cakes always come out. Instead of using frosting or cream I use a glaze. I love how you are fixing cakes.
cake rescue is my favorite series! Even more than the debunking! cake rescue makes my heart feel warm, it makes me feel like I can try more interesting cake designs and even if it doesn't work out, I can still make something good :)
These cake rescues have to be my favorite videos! I can’t tell you how many cakes I have ruined even after years of baking. You personally have taught me so much about not only the science of baking but have given me so many ideas when it comes to desserts 🫶🏼❤️
I want to like this video a second time. (And a third, fourth, and tenth time.) I don't know why, but watching your cake rescue videos is so comforting. Maybe because it's a kind of reassurance that even if you screw up, you can save it? It's not the end of the world? I appreciate how much effort you put into showing all the steps, different cake ideas, and the exact science of why something goes wrong. I absolutely love science so that last one is especially interesting to me. Much love!

Ann feels like a friend and a role model despite never even meeting, you inspire and touch a lot of people and thank you so much for providing such great examples and being the kindness in the world that gives me hope
Ann's freshly baked cakes always looks like the yummiest things ever baked :')
Omelette norvégienne is yummy too😁
I could listen to say the word "chocolate" all day long. That cremeux cake looked unreal. Imagine being your friend and having you drop off these types of insane desserts?! That would be super amazing! Hope your friend is feeling better now!
I commented this on another cake rescue video but here's again, my favorite way to rescue a cake:
Just crumble the whole cake and put cream cheese or frosting in it like you're making cakepops, then in parchment paper put the cake dough and with a rolling pin make a rectangle, then you can fill it with wathever you want; then roll the cake and chill it in the freezer or fridge for a while, you can decore it after but I don't really do it (specially if it's chocolate cake bc it looks really smooth on the outside) and you have a pretty cake roll 🥰
You both @sideserfcakestudio and ANN are my favorite content creators that i found and watch with happiness
I'm really glad that you also pointed out about stealing content withgiving artist the credit
And honestly NATALIE'S way of using green butter cream as her sign is so creative
You both are so creative 🥺💜
the ice cream cake one reminded me of DQ cakes. they do freeze their cake tins when making an ice cream cake, but the process is basically the same as how Ann showed. they do make a small cavity for the cookie crumble so instead of whipping cream, they make the edged lines on the ice cream itself
Yay! I’ve been waiting for another one of these, they are one of mine and my mum’s favourite series! So glad your doing another video of it!
lovely, hope your mum loves it 💕
This is one of my favorites too! I love the creativity, and it has helped me in real life as I have created cakes that didn't quite go as planned. But I didn't stress, and listened to the calm Aussie voice in my head telling me to freeze the cake, and try again the next day!
As a never ending fan of the jelly-pool-cake in the Women's Weekly Book - I absolutely knew that was going to be the pool cake!
Ann I’m so glad you gave Natalie a shout out ❤
I loved this video and I’m extremely happy that your video warning about the lightening wood thing is back up!
Man, these videos always cheer me up. I feel bad for the cake that fell on the floor, that man had a stream of bad luck, must've broken a few mirrors
I love these cake rescuing videos! They are always refreshing to watch and I also get to learn something new each time! ❤️
I'm so glad!❤️
13:22 THATS MY SECOND FAVOURITE TH-cam BAKERRR! after you Ann 💕
I need a slo-mo replay of how to make that parchment wedge...I knew I should have paid attention in geometry.
I love that you don’t insult or make fun of the people who failed but instead offer encouragement
Ann I cannot tell how much I LOVE this series!!!
I feel like Ann is the Bob Ross of the baking world. She makes me so happy 😊
Cake rescue is my favorite series on this channel, so glad to wake up to this!
I love your rescue videos. You always approach the original post with kindness and empathy, and I never guess what your plan is for the rescue until the reveal.
I thought you were going to turn the loaf cake into a boat, but the pool was so cute! You're cake transformations are always so creative!
I love how kind you are in all your cake rescue videos, lots of people make fun of people when they fail, and that makes it hard to accept that failing is okay.
I love cake rescue videos! I hope there will be more of them.
More to come!
I love your ethical self. Give credit - amen!
I love this series and I love how kind you are to the ‘fails’
I love "Sideserf Cakes". Her work is amazing! 🥰🥰🥰
This has got to be one of my favorite series!
I love it when she adds the stop motion animation in there :)
Love the shout-out to Sideserf Cakes! Ann's always got goodness in her heart.
I can do that!"
Final product was nothing like cake pops. Amazing! Not sure I can do that, but love watching your videos.
Ann Reardon is the epitome of “bake smart”.
I particularly enjoyed the second rescue, turning the cake into a pool. How Ann comes up with these ideas is just 🤯
Thank you! 😊
Wow Ann! The transformations you can do to failed cakes is mind-blowing! Love the new video!!
😁
I absolutely love all the stop motion she does throughout the video!
Oh my god your trick for cutting the baking paper to the size of the cake tin literally just changed my life. That's genius! I always struggle with getting the right size paper. No more!
Happy Friday, Ann. Your cakes always turn out so beautifully and elegantly.
Thanks so much 😊
Me sitting in front of my computer waiting for the notification from Ann.
Then I hear a bing: I’m thinking, yes 😁👏
Thank you these cake rescue videos are SO entertaining and your cheerful voice always cheers me up! :)
Watching this while I line the cake tin for my son's first birthday! This cake will be coming out of the tin!
🎉
The pool cake is so adorable!
Every single one of these rescues and tips is awesome! Totally saving this.
I love Fridays! A new video from an awesome creator puts a smile on my face. Thanks Ann. 😁
so sweet of you to bring cake to your friend with covid!
I have to say I just saw the first rescue of the video. The second one is exactly what I wished for and why I like these videos
These are so addictive to watch I love the editing the video is AWESOME well done Ann
You are the best youtuber!
Thank you so much!😁
@@HowToCookThat no problem:)
My mom and older sisters where always cooking and baking when I was growing up. I learned a lot from them especially since one of those sisters went to culinary school and later made wedding cakes.
This new intro is wonderful! Thanks for the content, Ann!
You are so welcome!
You work with chocolate the way a blacksmith handles metal.
I'm just blown away by how much I learn from each of your videos!
These are some of my favorite types of videos you make. Thank you so much for your time and for your creatvity!
Glad you like them!
First media: inspiring women every day and tricking people
Ann reardon: inspiring people everyday and give you honest results
I always love the stop motion segments. They look so good everytime ^^
I did something similar to the pool hack for a birthday cake based on another older video, and the coconut and dinosaur lollies really saved the day - these helpful hints are priceless!
I love these cake rescue videos so much. They really make me want to bake something.
HTCT always makes my fridays better!
I agree
Thanks so much Mario 😃
I am no expert at baking cakes like you but I have made tons before and always greased the pan with flour. My cakes always come out. Instead of using frosting or cream I use a glaze. I love how you are fixing cakes.
cake rescue is my favorite series! Even more than the debunking! cake rescue makes my heart feel warm, it makes me feel like I can try more interesting cake designs and even if it doesn't work out, I can still make something good :)
The purity of your channel and the work you do is amazing. Thank you for everything.
These cake rescues have to be my favorite videos! I can’t tell you how many cakes I have ruined even after years of baking. You personally have taught me so much about not only the science of baking but have given me so many ideas when it comes to desserts 🫶🏼❤️
I love these videos...it makes me such a more confident baker because I can always save it because of your videos thanks Ann
Glad you like them!
Much love!
This video is a lifesaver!!!
haha, glad to help 😃
