      I like the one where the war veteran returns from foreign battles to f8nd everything hehe loved gone.. seconds from self-annihilation the devil appears as a horrible, stinky, shit-smeared goatman with this challenge- look up on me, and live as I appear for seven long year here amongst these people and live, and let all live too. You will not attend to your body in any way save base nourishment, security and warmth. A whipped dog shall exist grander than thee. Two things- your pockets will never be without change, and you mustn't experience anything but sorrow for seven years too. Deal?

    One thing about Dancing In The Dark: Remember when Craig said you can sing certain songs with a Southern accent and they can become country songs? This song is an example of something different, but similar. If you sing this song just slowed down, you can make it into an outright ballad. Others are like that, but this is my outright favorite example, it works better than when most people try and reinvent their songs. I've been doing this one since I was a teenager, it's amazing.

    Matt, I had the same discussion with my dad about The Devil Went Down to Georgia. He argued that the Devil was only "better" because of his backing band, where as Johnny rosined up that bow, and played the fiddle on his own, and since it was a fiddle contest and not a big band contest, the Devil had to admit he was hiding his flaws behind the band whereas Johnny showed better raw and pure fiddle skills.
    A good portion of the Devil's section is a standing bass solo, after all.

And then I remember his role in 'Battle for the Planet of the Apes.' And then I can't help but imagine an Apes movie with screenplay by Tennessee Williams. BTW: 'Night of the Iguana'.... SEEN IT?

    In light of the Disney live action Mulan movie turning out terrible, you two should watch Mulan: Rise of a Warrior. Its a Chinese live action version if the story that focusses on both Mulan’s connection to her fellow soldiers and the need to hold to her duty as both warrior and a daughter. Zhao Wei does an amazing job showing the emotions brought on by the hard decisions Mulan must make. Its also stars Jaycee Chan, son of the always epic Jackie Chan.

    • @NinjaDimes
      @NinjaDimes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I watched Mulan: Rise of a Warrior a long time ago, and I personally just thought it was ok, even though I'm a fan of Zhao Wei. I'm not sure if she was directed badly, but I didn't feel much depth in her performance. I also found it slowly paced, and despite the focus on emotions and Mulans internal conflict, it had a hard time making me feel things for the characters. The focus on emotions also meant that everything was kind of fast-forwarded-- the epic war with the Rourans in general is downplayed in favor of small battles or stalemates with lots of melancholy. They also did not address the fact that Mulan barely hides her gender, and doesn't even change her name to enlist (in fact she is recognized because she uses the same name). I recognize they didn't want to make the gender-bending a focal point, but to ignore it completely made it feel distracting. To me, it felt like the scriptwriter and directors were scared to truly give a woman strength and power; in lead up to major battles she is often saved. At one point characters lie to her to make her strong and unattached. This is just my interpretation, but it almost seemed like the movie focused on 'feelings' because she is a woman and that's what women do. It could have been amazing but it fell flat to me. It's supposed to be in the vein of the Ballad of Mulan but it felt like a trussed up love story. I feel like part of its rise in popularity lately is simply because people are comparing it to the 2020 Disney version and the Chinese version is obviously superior comparatively. But I watched it ten years ago, before all the hoopla, and I thought it was just ok. I'm still looking for a good interpretation of the Ballad of Mulan.

      Kindly STFU about the masks already. You have no idea of their medical histories and whether or not anyone they care about is immuno-compromised (for which COVID might well be a life-changing situation), or who they associate with, and you're complaining (constantly, in every video) about them doing the best they can to compromise and bring you a show that, as Craig said, doesn't feel forced or awkward with Zoom, while still being responsible to others. If you don't like to see them wearing masks, fine - feel free to not watch until they can remove them. I guarantee you, they've seen your opinion.
