Hi, thank you for this video. I have a Thetford toilet. Will this work for this brand as well? Another video showed having to take the whole thing off! 😫 Thanks
Hello! When it comes to Thetford toilets, it really depends on the model which you have. On some Thetford toilets, the seal can be replaced very similarly to the one in the video. Some of their other toilets require you to uninstall the toilet as you mentioned and some require you separate the toilet bowl from the toilet base in order to replace the blade/ ball valve seal. The best way to find out which style of toilet you have would be to find the model and serial number tag on the back of the toilet. I use either an inspection mirror or I flip the camera to the front one on my smart phone and take a picture of it. From there you can look up which style of toilet you have and then you can look up a video on how to replace the seal. If you find that it is too much, there is certainly no shame in having a professional RV technician handle it for you as well. I hope this helps! Thank you for your question!
Great question! At the time I replaced it, the gasket was around 6-7 years old. Them amount of time that a gasket is still useful can vary greatly given the amount of use of the RV and toilet. I suspect that I wore ours out by propping the valve open and holding in in place with a flashlight one too many times hahaha. Thanks for asking! Happy camping!
