I would surely suspect a bad cable to the DLC. Intermittent and changing errors arising from comm with the vehicle really points to perhaps bad pin fitment in a header, bad wiring within the header (or in the connection back to the computer). Thanks for your videos!
Since it connects and starts to generate, then all of a sudden cuts out. I suspect cable issues, since when you start the engine it vibrates and disturbs the transmission of data. I think.🤷
You need to use Mongoose cable or the most expensive Toyota cable. It's a cheap cable that's why it didn't work. Cheap cables do not have latest firmware which is needed. The techstream seemed to be completely activated! That's it friend. Good video!
There is an interface board for the cable in the computer, it looks like you have a bad electrical card. I would replace that card since it is defective. I suspect the added noise entering the cable from the engine running is enough to cause the noise filtering on the interface to fail. I dont suspect the cable since it works when the engine is not running.
Hello, I wonder if you make changes with Techstream. Are there any traces left in the system that the Dealer can notice? My unit is new 2022 Highlander and I don't want to lose my warranty. Thank you
Perhaps you can explain why you need a Panasonic Tuff Book. Is that where all the cost is involved in your choice to incorporate Techstream relatively cheap soft ware. And what is the Snap on box below or is that something seperate or all part of the very neat looking package kit?
Agreed; there is a nightmarish number of electrical components in the cable interface that could be suspect. Swap it out with one of the cheapo Chinese versions. Also, back up the hard drive and reload a fresh copy of 32 bit Windows XP with SP-2 or Windows 7 ( and then go to the Toyota site and get a copy of Techstream from the source and pay for a 2 day subscription in order to test the computer itself. Toyota provides the software for free, but only offers 2 levels of subscriptions: 2 days or one year. I couldn't get Techstream to work on my 64 bit Windows 10 laptop, but worked well on a Toshiba Satellite I found on eBay for $70. The seller included a fresh copy of XP, but without the drivers. I used eBay once more and located a seller that had the updated drivers for several legacy Windows systems.
