Quick question, what’s the orchestral track that plays at the end of the video? I know it from somewhere (specifically the bit around 31:18 clued me in because I remember that bit), but cannot place where from.
Honestly I was never a huge fan of the theory and was expecting to hate the reveal if/when it happened... but then it happened and I love the way it happened, and still love the way it’s unfolding now
If Horikoshi had done the Dabi twist more traditionally, it wouldn't have worked. This is a prime example of real drama, character writing and presentation. Since Horikoshi likely knew everyone already knew the twist, he put us in Dabi's POV (or at least, someone who was in the know) and showed us all the pent up emotions he had built up for well over a decade. That mad dance was, imo, one of the best scenes he's written in the series so far.
@@zemox2534 Horikoshi kept us on our toes. There was evidence for it, but each piece on its own didn't mean much and had a number of other logical explanations, since I think he knew that people would jump on that theory, but didn't want to reveal it until the right time. So he kept the hints surface-level, then gradually started piling them up until it got to the point where the only way it would have been more obvious where it was going would be if he started smacking people with a sign that said "DABI IS SHOTO'S BROTHER". And even now, there's still things we don't know, like how he managed to get that information about Hawks.
this. i think what really made the twist was the fucking dancing. for the past 10 years, this man has lost his shit because of his entire childhood and early home life. Him dancing like he was out of his mind worked so well and it was so theatrical. He managed to show just how unhinged he was. I don't know how it will be animated, but his dance sequence in the manga is something I won't ever forget.
I think we actually got another big clue/hint to Dabi being a Todoroki during Chapter 160 when he had his little skirmish with Snatch and the hero asks him "Have you never stopped to think about how their [the victims Dabi killed] families feel?!" and Dabi's reaction to it (the anime lingering on Dabi's expression before he kills Snatch instantly). This question was also revisited at the very end of the Pro Hero arc where we see Dabi wiping away blood from beneath his eye (almost like he was wiping away tears) as he says, "I thought so hard about it I went crazy."
@NoStrawberryJams I think it's something deeper. We still aren't privy to how his mind works, we've only got his manic glee at the idea of him getting his revenge
@NoStrawberryJams No you have a point. I like to think that this was the moment where Dabi really started losing himself and began spiraling a little off the deep end. After just witnessing that his own father didn't/couldn't recognize him but remembered the name of some nobody hero, I think it got to Dabi more than he let on. That's why he nearly drove himself insane trying to remember just who the hell "Snatch" was and when he finally remembered him, it was specifically the line about "the victims' families" that popped into his mind. Which I think is emphasized more when he finally reveals himself and says something along the lines of "Sure, my looks may have changed, but I at least thought my own family would still be able to recognize me"
Fr I just recently noticed that because of the anime adaptation and I believe this was when Touya finally went off the deep end because yeah he was always unhinged but not like this
Both us the readers and *DABI* were waiting for it to happen and then, finally, happening. The guy has clearly been practicing his every word, move and gesture in preparation for this moment since we first saw him next to a beatysalon, hell, you can see a sheet of paper on the night table next to him while recording the video, read again the three chapters previous to this one and all you can clearly see Dabi unable to hold his exciment. On top of that the execution was top notch, at the moment when every citizen of Japan is crawling in fear at the monsters that this villains have become, the pros are being defeated one by one and the number one is giving what his has not to fight Shigaraki, just when everyone places their hopes on Endeavor (because he is the public figure of heroism since All Might's retirement) Dabi drops the bomb on National TV and on the Internet at the same time for **EVERYONE** to wittnes. Ironically the same day as the spoilers dropped Dabi/Touya went N°1Trending Globally (for a while) on Twitter and various social media, topping the presidential elections of a world leader country. That's just INSANE.
It’s going to be surreal seeing anime-onlys going through the same ‘wait what they actually confirmed it’ moment we are currently having once the anime adapts the war arc.
I want to press x to doubt is there's any anime only fan with social media who didn't get "spoiled" XD I think only those who really don't follow anything anime related saved themselves
I think most people will find out long before that arc is aired. The anime is taking so long to catch up; it's only just now getting to the class 1-A vs. class 1-B arc.
Dabi essentially positioning himself as the second main antagonist to Shigaraki is honestly one of my favorite plot elements of the entire series. It’s goddamn cool and rewarding after being invested for so many years.
I loved the idea that Dabi would just end up some random dude similar to Endeavour even though I knew that would be ridiculous. I thought the “twist” would be lame but of course, I was wrong. By treating it not as a twist but rather as a way to compliment Dabis twisted urge to destroy his fathers legacy and watching just how crazy he is- god is he a delight.
I just really didn't like how everyone started theorizing like a crackhead when he first appeared and there was no evidence. I really hate how MHA fans go so crazy with their assumptions sometimes, I remember some super idiotic theory that came out when the chapter where Deku saw the previous OFA holders and people were saying BAKUGOU AND KIRISHIMA were OFA holders IN THE PAST. And this is because? Because their shadows look similar, that's it. Istg some people in this fandom are legitimately crazy.
@@henrydikes6704 Yeah, I recently watched an edit of Deku and the previous One For All holders, and one of the comments was that dumbass theory. Didn't Horikoshi even draw all the users in a panel or two at some point?
oh man i remember being there for all of it BUT. you forgot that the dabi theorists also went crazy at the kirishima flashback chapters during the overhaul arc! because it set the precedent of characters canonically dying their hair a different color. meaning that there was canon basis for dabi dying his hair black beyond just standing in front of a hair saloon! i also remember the popular fan names people had for touya at the time, ryouta being the most popular one because of the japanese expression ryuutou dabi aka head of a dragon, tail of a snake aka disappointing finish to a promising start ..........jesus christ i remember Way too much about this in the early stages. i deserve a veteran's discount somewhere
I know it’s cringed but I read a Dabi reveal FanFiction dabi’s final line sums up his message to society. “How can you trust your heroes to protect you when they create the villains that kill you”
Pretty much the entire time people discussed the Dabi theory, I felt that the important thing shouldn’t be the reveal itself, but how it would impact the story and characters. Horikoshi managed to slide it in so well and make it feel so natural.
The fact that he has even side characters progress is a testament to that. People can cry all they want about the fact X favorite character didn’t get to have their glory moment BUT the fact that they’re never totally left behind proves Hori is doing something right.
Not just that but he has a keen eye for details. This is specifically seen whenever he has a scene where Uraraka or Shigaraki holding something, they never use all five of their fingers due to the nature of their quirks
I cant imagine any one being that at this point no one in ua looks like a traitor and if an underdeveloped character is the traitor that's gonna be like who cares so I hope if horikoshi does it he has it planned out
@@vishaalmalolan4428 kaminari has just enough character development and a good enough relationship with jiro that it would hit incredibly hard if he was revealed to be the traitor
I definitely agree, although I hope Horikoshi puts a bit more focus onto it before the reveal actually happens, because there needs to be lots of build-up. I personally believe it’s Kaminari, since he is important enough for the audience to like him while still being a believable traitor (unlike Uraraka...i would go crazy if it was revealed to be her). His quirk is perfect for communicating with the league at a distance, and he also gets the benefit of being able to act dumb if he ever needs to hide his true intentions. He focuses a lot on being well-liked by others and following trendy things, which could be a sign that he is trying to gain trust under the guise of being an average trend-loving goofball. He also has had quite a few uncharacteristically odd lines at the beginning of the series, mentioning how stain was cool, having a very wordy speech about how everyone hates Bakugo’s personality, along with mentioning Hemingway, who wrote the book *A Farewell to Arms*, which seems like a very odd thing for the token “dumb and trendy” character to bring up, since old-fashioned books seem like the exact OPPOSITE of something he would normally like. Fun fact about the book Kaminari mentioned: the book A Farewell to Arms was published in 1929 and was written in the perspective of Lieutenant Fredric who fell in love with a woman named Catherine and served in the Italian army. Catherine originally disliked Fredric, but quickly fell in love with him as well (which is quite similar to Jirou). Fredric had to go off to war despite his efforts to avoid it, and among his many efforts, he attempted to purposefully keep himself sick in order to avoid the war (similar to how Kaminari might possibly be faking his dumb “yey” mode)While fighting, Fredric’s troops slowly dwindle down, and after he gets to safety, many officers, along with him, get interrogated accused of “treachery” that lead to the Italian defeat. Fredric escapes execution for treachery by swimming away, and he goes off to search and find Catherine. After finding Catherine and living with her for a while, she dies in his arms after she starts hemorrhaging, and the book ends with him walking back to his hotel in the rain. This whole book is a very, VERY, interesting comparison if we consider the possibility of him being a traitor...
Man, Dabi is just so fucking cool. His powers, his backstory, his entire demeanor, it all just makes him so interesting. "The Past Never Dies!" Just pure chills on that panel, every time. I can't wait for the "Zuko vs Azula" type battle that we'll probably get between him and Shouto.
I am thoroughly invested in the Todoroki drama. The fact I, an individual who does not use Twitter, heard chapter 290 trending over elections blew my effing mind. I really REALLY want to know what happens next bc the mystery is what is holding us captive right now and I love it.
Same...I love when mha chapters r centered around the todorokis it's just peak mha for me...also that's also a reason why I've been a little dissatisfied ever since chp 294..since I wanted more of shoto and dabi...but let's see where the story goes from here on?!
@@Anu32148 there will be plenty of it. I don't think we'll see that much of Dabi but Natsuo, Rei are visiting Shoto at the hospital. Sure we'll know a bit of the perspective of them (which we didn't really get during the reveal chapter)
The past never dies! Hero society is now at it’s lowest point.... or will the prison break arc be the final nail in the coffin or the hammer for the coffin?
@@pyrosianheir they're fucked now. not only tartarus got broken down. a few other lower tier prisons got broken down. meaning there won't be a way to house the 16,000 arrested people from previous battle. even then they would've been fucked because when you scatter large numbers of people with the same ideology in confined places you basically have a terrorist/extremist hotbed in that prison, which for most purposes becomes a criminal base.
@Dorel abramov I have to, but for different reasons. It's inevitable in my mind that hero society is going to be destroyed, it's to corrupt to last. I just want to get it over with, so something better can takes its place. The current system, is broken. Something new needs to take its place. I just have that the new world born out of the ashes of the old one, won't give rise to another Shirgaraki, cause it it doesn't, then there doing things roughy.
The anticipation to Dabi’s reveal wasn’t the reveal itself, but the Todoroki family’s reaction from it. As well as the fallout Endeavor would most certainly receive from it.
Edit: [SPOILERS below in read more] I liked how despite this ‘’mystery’ being solved, we have a bigger one with what dabi said to hawks that freaked him out so much. Even when Horikoshi answers our questions, he only creates more, and I love that about him... Well it’s been confirmed that Dabi got hawks’ name through hawks’ mother...
Hawks being trained as a young boy is a pretty big indication that there's some group that grooms children into becoming heroes. There's a strong chance that Dabi was at one point part of the same program, and knows secrets that would further damage hero society if he were to go public.
@@l-knight7294 but he’s somehow aware of hawks real name, which only the government knows. Was there a part in the manga where endeavour mentions that touya was part of a government-sanctioned organisation?
let's be honest, anyone who saw Avatar - the last airbender and MHA season 3 thought: if todoroki is zuko endeavor is the fire lord Sooo... this blue flamed guy must be Azula
I didn't read/saw Hokuto no Ken, but this series is a Classic Shonen, so it's absolutely the kind of history Kohei will take inspiration from, nice call
Except things are inverted. Dabi, aka Azula, was the rejected older sibling, while Shoto, who would be Zuko, is the prodigy child his father always wanted.
Imagine if they went full on crazy and put in a song that founds similar to the Bathroom Dance song from the Joker movie when they animate the Dabi reveal… that would be insane.
I love the twist because it makes Shoto a million times more interesting. For a while, I didn't know where his character was going but the moment we learn the truth about Toya it all makes sense. Toya is the perfect antagonist for Shoto since they went through the same experience but took opposite paths. Shoto learned to (gradually) let go of his anger while Toya became a murderous villain because of his hatred. It give Shoto a huge role in the story that includes heavy emotional stakes and makes the whole story so exciting.
Dabi's reveal was the epitome of well executed And Dabi's Dance is my favorite moment in my hero academia I was getting tired of the manga and anime I was bored with it but that chapter renewed a fire in me to see it through to the end
This was honestly a great watch.....but fuck did you make me realize how long the War arc was, I forgot it started before March. Though I think we can all agree, Dabi Dance better become as infamous as the Toby Dance or Joker Dance when Animated I want 30 seconds dedicated it to being animated as smoothly as possibly and to become a GIF and meme.
Honestly, the reveal that Dabi was Touya was long overdue and not a surprise to the point of "oh shit really?" But more of "oh shit finally". However, it was Endeavor's flashback of when Touya was young that actually surprised me the most as it showed that multiple claims about Touya and Endeavor were finally proclaimed false.
i think also something to add is the fact that in the LOV vs MLA arc i noticed that basically all the of the LOV members were getting/already had back stories, which was huge to me because it then was obvious that his past was being kept secret for a reason and was being treated differently (and the same with mr compress to a point as well as his identity wasn't revealed until just a bit after dabi revealed his)
it was such a unique experience. it was such a popular theory that the fans knew and horikoshi knew everyone knew. it kind of felt like waiting in a theatre for the show to start, for the curtains to finally unveil. and boy did horikoshi give us one hell of a show
Speaking of dabi theories let me drop one that I really like. The theory goes that dabi works under or is perhaps being controlled in some way by the hero association since dabi has access to high level info he should not have other wise. The reason why the hero association want to do this is because they essentially want to pump out really strong villains for the heroes to fight as some form of population control. The hero association would be interested in something like this because of the quirk convergence theory that overhaul first mentions where one day due to breeding a generation of insanely strong quirk users powerful enough to threaten the world will be born. It's easier for the hero association to control strong quirk users if they are influencing both villains and heroes. I really love this theory not because of its connection to dabi but it could imply that the hero association could be a threat from within possibly mha's version of hydra.
@@michaelgillespie9112 she could be the one that end up revealing some kind if connection between the association and dabi or maybe she could have leaked info to dabi in someway while she was in tarturas with the help of afo.
i had goosebumps through the whole video. what a journey! what a moment! i'm so glad i've lived through this with everyone in the community. so iconic !!
As someone who started the manga only a couple months after you did, my satisfaction is immense and I'm so ready to see what happens next. This has been a real trip and I know there's still plenty more to come.
As someone who very, VERY lightly theorizes, and generally just enjoys the ride a story gives, it was such a fun reveal of Dabi's identity. After that, as quite a late comer to BNHA in general, the chapter that confirmed it was the next out by the time I finished catching up, all the breadcrumbs leading to the reveal were fresh in my mind and it was so fun to see them come together.
I was so hyped when Dabi suddenly called Hawks by his real name, it gave the implication that the two have some vague connection. I legit started theorizing 1. They were in the same gov. programm and are aqquainted ( Dabi is there to learn how to control his quirk // childhood friends?? Theory ) 2. Maybe relating to Hawks' father's arrest. Like he was there and just happened to talk to Hawks. BUT THEN, THEN we find out "Nah man Dabi just searched for my Mom, tresspassed, and threatened her to asked for my name and shit."
God I keep going back to that chapter because it was done so incredibly well. The reason the twist managed to surprise all of us because Touya didn't just reveal himself by yelling it at all of the characters and rambles on, instead he has this short to the point speech while he *_dances._* You can tell that he's so fucking unhinged because this man is dancing in the middle of a battle field. And just like us, Touya has been waiting for this moment. The moment he can finally get his revenge on Enji and humiliates him. His approach to the main battle field, the washing of his hair dye, the dancing, the premeditated speech on TV, the speech he gave to everyone on the frontlines. It was ALL prepared and Touya exposed the main details upfront for the entire world to see, both in universe and out to our universe. And like the characters in the universe, we watched in awe while this broken man was getting his revenge that was a decade overdue.
I don't know why but the one thing that 100% convinced me back in the day about Dabi being Touya (I was an anime and only when it came out), was that they used the same animation movement of Dabi using his flames in the forest training arc as the one they used for shoto on the third mha op.
I was spoiled on dabi years ago but I recently watched season 6 in November and IT STILL HIT. Like I knew they were related but how it was presented was flawless
can we just deep that his quirk name: 'cremation' was ALSO a piece of evidence that alluded to his past?? He was essentially *cremated* by his own quirk -- they found nothing but his jaw bone at the location he was burned. That was how he died, only to revive again as Dabi.....
This is it. This is the video that makes me sub. So much passion and dedication. Fun and admiration. All coming together in this really interesting retrospective is pure joy to watch. Thank you
this was one of those twists that you could see a mile away but still the HYPE on twitter when it was finally confirmed, one of the coolest days of my life ngl
as someone who loves dabi's character i hate how i just found out about this video, this was so good and it brings me back to when i was hella scared that the theory wouldn’t come true lmao, but yeah thanks for making this video, new sub here^^
I can tell how much you love the arc I’m rewatching the story after it’s over and I found so many details hidden in the scenes in the early chapters as you introduced in the video
Even watching this video gave me the same goosebumps from the day the chapter came out. It felt so amazing to know that my hours of rambling about the theories and how it all just makes sense paid off. If i ever were to write something, i want the twist to be just as rewarding as this one.
Good twists are always forshadowed in some way or another, and make sense retroactive to paint it in new light. Thats a good twist, that theories exist and the author played red herring with his death is a good example of using fantheories to play with expectations, while still not ruining it. Twists arent good if they are out of the blue, they are when they make sense and have some clues.
Bruuh I remember one time I was talking to my classmate about Dabi and he was like "Man, this guy is really mysterious. I think he might be Bakugo's brother or something" i was like "WHAT??!! He is obviously Todoroki's brother!!" "but he's got firey, destructive quirk like Bakugo."
I say this as someone who isn't really a MHA fan but knew about the Dabi Totoroki theory, this was ,and still is, one of the best reveals of a twist in a while
Great placement of Pagliacci, there at the end! Overall great video. The Dabi reveal for me shows once again that a "reveal" or a twist doesn't have to be that one big shock moment. It's how it is the execution and what the reactions are, that make a twist a twist. So. It was fun. Now we can latch on to the next theory 👀
I knew that he was Toya, I was even spoiled about this and when I saw the black speech box I knew the reveal was coming soon. I wasn't that big on the theory, but I liked Dabi's design and general personality enough that I wanted him to get more developed, so I wanted to see where the reveal would take him plot wise. Then chapter 290 started and the first scene showed Rei's doctors saying that they had to kill her TV. My first thought was that they didn't want her to see Endeavor or Shoto hurt and having to risk their lives fighting villains, but then I saw what was on the TV and I realized what was about to happen. The heroes were already at their lowest point and they were about to get even lower. After all that Endeavor did to try to atone for his mistakes it was about to get 100 times worse. And then the dance scene started. And then I got to what is probably my favorite panel from the MHA manga: "The past never dies!" I knew the reveal was coming, I even got spoiled before hand, but the way it was executed and the consequences it would have still caught me completely off guard.
29:52 his hair *didn't turn to white* because of stress it was from Rei's genes taking over as his body becomes weak to fire... plus he wasn't stress at all with endeavor because he was excited and happy to train with him
Yoooo I wad talking with a friend about that scene where Torino missed out on Dabi's name a little before the reveal and I feel so validated by your bringing it up here
I will never forget the day where dabi's dance chapter leaked... this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Everyone went crazy about it and Dabi even out-trended the presidental elections on twitter.
Besides Build Up, Execution is the most important tool if you want your mystery to be presented well and the Dabi Reveal and Execution was Amazing in my opinion
I have a theory, that after the prison break arc the villains group will be split into two groups.. lead by dabi and shiggy...now that the dabi reveal has happened...horikoshi can focus on giving him some character growth and development...I honestly want this to happen...it will be interesting to see which villains would go with whom??!!
as someone who has had a dabi brainrot since I started reading the manga late last year, i have always wanted to see a video of the timeline and the fan's journey and theories throughout. This video was great! Thank you so much!!
a couple weeks ago we got dab's dance for an episode and it was perfect the dance was perfect the voice acting was perfect the shock that all villains and heroes had on their face during the scene perfect and him revealing it on a news broadcast perfect I don't read the manga so I'm extremely frilled to see were the story goes after this
You missed a moment in the pro hero arc where dabi begins to cry blood and wipe it away after being reminded of the sand hero he killed. After he was asked if he ever thought about the family of the heros he kills, to which he replies he thought about it so much he went crazy
A) beautiful use of Ridi Pagliaccio... So, so fitting. Absolutely perfect. B) lovely graphic when you recreated the reveal scene, I really enjoyed that. It was both visually pleasing and well done. C) let's move on to the theories of what that black bubble contained. I am so happy this series exists in my life.
Oh my! It really was a journey, i remember when I saw my first couple of is "DABI Shoto TODOROKI'S BROTHER?!?!??" drying the dishes after School so far ago, and now with my friends and I are in college we did an hour+ call after the chapter 290, even the days after I couldn't stop talking about it because it felt so good, so rewarding and the way that Horikoshi did it! I freaking LOVE the fact than Endevor and Shoto weren't shocked 😲 open mouth like cheap drama reaction, no, both took a while to process it you can see it in their faces , the confusion, then shock, and when they realize it you see their pain and horror comprehending what that means, even a bit of hope, like he's not dead, that's a miracle...but he's a monster, and they have fault on it, and he wants to kill shoto, I mean is si much going on on their thought process after the reveal, and Horikoshi's art on the expressions of enji and shoto were the highlight of this historical chapter

Argghh it was such a big hint!

Omg true, it was all so carefully planned. He wanted to make a statement, and this was so good.

It’s going to be surreal seeing anime-onlys going through the same ‘wait what they actually confirmed it’ moment we are currently having once the anime adapts the war arc.
Honestly, with how the Dabi reveal trended even with the USA elections going on I seriously doubt the anime onlies won´t get spoiled until then.
everyone a little engaged got spoiled for sure

yeah i got spoiled.
Pretty much the entire time people discussed the Dabi theory, I felt that the important thing shouldn’t be the reveal itself, but how it would impact the story and characters. Horikoshi managed to slide it in so well and make it feel so natural.
I think what also helps is that Dabi is clearly enjoying revealing it as we were reading it.
The heroes thought Shigaraki would destroy Hero Society, BUT IT WAS ME, TOYA!
Kono Toya Da!
I feel like Horikoshi's writting style it's underrated af
The fact that he has even side characters progress is a testament to that. People can cry all they want about the fact X favorite character didn’t get to have their glory moment BUT the fact that they’re never totally left behind proves Hori is doing something right.
I personally disagree
MHA is a simple story carried by great characters
If anything we should be praising his character writing skills
@@panpan1287 TBH I agree with that, I love the story but his characters are great, he even fixed a error that the anime did and it was cool.
Not just that but he has a keen eye for details. This is specifically seen whenever he has a scene where Uraraka or Shigaraki holding something, they never use all five of their fingers due to the nature of their quirks
@@panpan1287 Simple story isn't a flaw. The very nature of most anime/manga aimed at a shounen demographic is to be simple and to the point.
The execution of Dabi's reveal gives me hope that the traitor reveal (if that's still a thing) will be as satisfying as this one.
I cant imagine any one being that at this point no one in ua looks like a traitor and if an underdeveloped character is the traitor that's gonna be like who cares so I hope if horikoshi does it he has it planned out
They had twice (rip) and toga so not really necessary to have a traitor. We all saw toga infiltrate in the hero exam so it’s not like she wouldn’t
Horikoshi said he forgot😂
*The real twist is that Dabi knows how to dance!*

Hero society is now at it’s lowest point.... or will the prison break arc be the final nail in the coffin or the hammer for the coffin?

@@pyrosianheir they're fucked now. not only tartarus got broken down. a few other lower tier prisons got broken down.

Edit: [SPOILERS below in read more]
I liked how despite this ‘’mystery’ being solved, we have a bigger one with what dabi said to hawks that freaked him out so much.
I thought Dabi revealed his real name to Hawks. That would be enough to shock Hawks. Unless there is another twist Hiro has up his sleeve.
pretty sure Dabi just said his name which would obviously shock Hawks cause he is such a big endeavor fan since he was a kid
@@l-knight7294 but he’s somehow aware of hawks real name, which only the government knows.
Was there a part in the manga where endeavour mentions that touya was part of a government-sanctioned organisation?
Mark of a good writer right there.
let's be honest, anyone who saw Avatar - the last airbender and MHA season 3 thought:
if todoroki is zuko
endeavor is the fire lord
Sooo... this blue flamed guy must be Azula
The best twists are the ones with build up
I just can’t wait for Dabis Dance to get animated. I already know the episode will make shockwaves
Dabi's reveal was the epitome of well executed
And Dabi's Dance is my favorite moment in my hero academia
I was getting tired of the manga and anime I was bored with it but that chapter renewed a fire in me to see it through to the end
Jojo's Torture Dance was extended in the anime, Dabi's Dance should be as well
+1
Honestly, the reveal that Dabi was Touya was long overdue and not a surprise to the point of "oh shit really?" But more of "oh shit finally".
However, it was Endeavor's flashback of when Touya was young that actually surprised me the most as it showed that multiple claims about Touya and Endeavor were finally proclaimed false.
YES PEOPLE PORTRAYED ENDEAVOR AS THIS INSANE LUNATIC
You're right this is a *FAT* dabi video. Much thanks for blessing the sub box too
If he dances twist in the anime I'm gonna lost my shit.
i think also something to add is the fact that in the LOV vs MLA arc i noticed that basically all the of the LOV members were getting/already had back stories, which was huge to me because it then was obvious that his past was being kept secret for a reason and was being treated differently (and the same with mr compress to a point as well as his identity wasn't revealed until just a bit after dabi revealed his)
Dabi's reveal beats Obito's when it comes to execution, even though Tobi started a war for his reveal LMAO
I fucking flipped when the reveal happened. Years of theorizing paid off.
it was such a unique experience. it was such a popular theory that the fans knew and horikoshi knew everyone knew. it kind of felt like waiting in a theatre for the show to start, for the curtains to finally unveil. and boy did horikoshi give us one hell of a show
We all saw it coming...
But it still shook us to the CORE!
It was a twists everyone saw.
But not the execution
Ooh this one is now a favorite of mine as well! >:D
Oooooof I love that shit. That would be some good writing.b
So, Lady Nagant any one?
@@michaelgillespie9112 she could be the one that end up revealing some kind if connection between the association and dabi or maybe she could have leaked info to dabi in someway while she was in tarturas with the help of afo.
i had goosebumps through the whole video. what a journey! what a moment! i'm so glad i've lived through this with everyone in the community. so iconic !!
18:43 I mean at that point of the story characters dying their hair color was alredy established with Kirishima
Dabi is definitely one of my all time favorite villains.
Lol
Same here!!!
Finally a long dabi video 😭😭😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥💙💙
I was so hyped when Dabi suddenly called Hawks by his real name, it gave the implication that the two have some vague connection. I legit started theorizing
1. They were in the same gov. programm and are aqquainted ( Dabi is there to learn how to control his quirk // childhood friends?? Theory )
2. Maybe relating to Hawks' father's arrest. Like he was there and just happened to talk to Hawks.
BUT THEN, THEN we find out "Nah man Dabi just searched for my Mom, tresspassed, and threatened her to asked for my name and shit."
Yea this dude was off his rockers
The fact I thought the same thing at the time
The Dabi dance was as if it was Horikoshi being all like 'woo yay you guessed right' and made it kind of fun
Dabi carried that last arc I swear he did
Especially the last few chapters

Alt title; How to Make an Obvious Reveal EPIC
Even watching this video gave me the same goosebumps from the day the chapter came out. It felt so amazing to know that my hours of rambling about the theories and how it all just makes sense paid off. If i ever were to write something, i want the twist to be just as rewarding as this one.
Good twists are always forshadowed in some way or another, and make sense retroactive to paint it in new light. Thats a good twist, that theories exist and the author played red herring with his death is a good example of using fantheories to play with expectations, while still not ruining it.
Twists arent good if they are out of the blue, they are when they make sense and have some clues.
Bruuh I remember one time I was talking to my classmate about Dabi and he was like
"Man, this guy is really mysterious. I think he might be Bakugo's brother or something"

I mean, how could you not, he’s literally perfect
29:52 his hair *didn't turn to white* because of stress it was from Rei's genes taking over as his body becomes weak to fire... plus he wasn't stress at all with endeavor because he was excited and happy to train with him
Imagine if Hori took from Naruto and named him Oyat instead of Dabi.
Instead of Oyat, it should be Ayot
When I read the revel chapter I litterly stopped and was like "YES This is happening!"
the fact that we knew but it was still hype as hell when it happened just shows how great the story is
Yoooo I wad talking with a friend about that scene where Torino missed out on Dabi's name a little before the reveal and I feel so validated by your bringing it up here
I will never forget the day where dabi's dance chapter leaked... this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Everyone went crazy about it and Dabi even out-trended the presidental elections on twitter.
Besides Build Up, Execution is the most important tool if you want your mystery to be presented well and the Dabi Reveal and Execution was Amazing in my opinion
He needs more likes guys
Naaaa son dabi’s first appearance being him getting hair dye is a masterclass of set up 😭😭 I’m 3 mins into the video and amazed
If a villain split happens, it will be most likely be divided into Re-Destro's side and Shiggy's side, or Shiggy's side and AFO's side
its also highly possible that stain will split off from them because his beliefs are different from the lov and all for one
i love how everyone accepted that dabi is touya, but still lost their shit when it was revealed
as someone who has had a dabi brainrot since I started reading the manga late last year, i have always wanted to see a video of the timeline and the fan's journey and theories throughout. This video was great! Thank you so much!!

*"I'm extremely frilled to see were the story goes after this"* Oh you poor soul.
This was exactly the ride I needed to be taken on
How much you admit, "yeah we were fucking crazy idk man" is so funny and real to the fandom experience
