In many ways I felt like this lost something by not being a larger and longer special. It's such a great episode as it is, but it could have been truly memorable with a 40 minute run time. There are so many specials within Season 4, and a couple which I feel maybe didn't deserve as much precedence as they got (Save Summer). Yet this was one that truly deserved to be a real event and it missed out on that, doubly so due to the fact that it leaked and was relegated like so many Season 4 episodes to the sporadic whims of the Disney XD release schedule. Agreed! I think that this episode feels like the first act of a second movie TBH. Like I could see them cutting from that ending back to the resistance with P&F and monogram, and the Doof family setting up a new lair. This ep works as the first act of a movie!

I thought this was a really good episode, but it sucks that we’re probably never going to find out what happened after the Doofenshmirtz family escaped. Even just an hour long special to wrap it up would be enough. As cool as it would be to see that plot turned into a whole 2nd Dimension spin-off show, I think it would be even cooler to bring the plot into a Doof and Perry spin-off show. Doof is trying to become Professor Time, but then Doof-2 shows up to try to get his help to take over the Tri-State Area. So then Doof-1 tries to convince him to turn good.

The ending of this episode is weird because when they were ending season 4 of the original series they were trying to find ways to make like a spin of show so they made several “pilot episodes” for these potential spin offs so like Doof 101 could have been a spin of show, OWCA files could have been a spin of show, and then tales of the resistance could have been a spin of show. So from that perspective the ending makes sense. Cause if a spin of series had been approved it would have problem followed up with Charline and Doof trying to take over again and the resistance now with the brought back agents would need to stop them. Candace and Jeremy would probably develop a relationship throughout the show. The second dimension kids would probably learn a bunch of things about the world that were banned by Doof. I always liked this episode. I like the idea of a semi-normal episode of Phineas and Ferb with the post-dystopian world of 2nd Dimension, with some of the flavor that comes along with the more 'aggressive' characters of the movie (for lack of a better term). Regardless of how kinda forgettable it might've been, it is a good episode.
I think it’s a fun look back into the lives of these versions of the cast, getting to see them just doing a regular Phineas and Ferb big idea before going for more of the action they did while being the resistance. The big drawback is the episode could have had a longer run time to fully reach the potential of the idea as some people have pointed out, but as is, it’s still a fun, if short lived, return to this concept.
I recently rewatched this episode, and it's way more hilarious than I remembered, so I gained a new-found appreaciation for it. I mean I didn't hated it when I first watched it, but I thought it was just simply okay. The Divorce-song and Ferb's line were my favourite parts of the episode. Of course, there were other great jokes too. I wish we could have gotten some more episodes from this world. Doof and his wife had an interesting amd refereshing dynamic, and expending upon Candace's conflict beetween to be on the edge all the time and being a normal teenager was genuinely good.
And in the song that concludes the *Last Day of Summer* special, the memories of Phineas and company's time in the 2nd dimension started flooding back, as if the effects of the amnesia-inator started wearing off, there's no telling how long Doof's inators' effects would last

There’s demand for another sequel. I’ll just give my ideas. (Based on popular fanfic ideas) Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Return to the second dimension. Taking place after Act your Age, college aged Phineas and Ferb, and their friends, are summoned into the second dimension by their counterparts, who they don’t remember do the events of the end of the first film. After getting their memories back by one of Dr. Baljeet‘s inventions, they are told that Second dimension Dr. Doofenshmirtz, along with second dimension Charlene and Vanessa at his side, Phineas and Ferb, Perry, Isabella, and the rest of the gang must stop second dimension Doofenshmirtz once more. Planned elements: Phineas and Isabella are engaged. The characters do not get their memories wiped again, as Perry really doesn’t have a “host family” anymore. Everyone finds out Stacy was the only one who knew about Perry after the events of the first film. The Milo Murphy characters might appear or they will be referenced. Hamster and Gretel might appear or be referenced. Xavier, Fred, and Amanda (Candace and Jeremy‘s kids) might appear.

Dang, I forgot how much I loved this episode. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention!
You're welcome! :D
Charlene:. I finally have an agent that can speak
Ferb: I usually only say one line per day
Charlene: really? Why?
Ferb:
Charlene: that was it?
I never forgot this. The pretend to be divorced song is memorable.
Actually there are main characters who remember the events of the movie:
Perry, Major monogram, Carl, Linda ,and Lawerence.
And in the song that concludes the *Last Day of Summer* special, the memories of Phineas and company's time in the 2nd dimension started flooding back, as if the effects of the amnesia-inator started wearing off, there's no telling how long Doof's inators' effects would last
@@damianprock1650 i understood that as just a fourth wall break, and not that they were remembering cause in that same moment Phineas tells Isabela to just wait a few years till they get together
@@bluecadet8517 referring to the events of *Act Your Age,* the point where things started to seem hopeless, but you know when I'm right about Doof's inators, the effects on those things hardly ever last long *ashes a cigarette*
For the whole video I was absolutely sure I had never seen this ep before, missed it while watching the tv or sth like that. I was so sad I watched it so late... Until the "Hey yourself". It broke my mind because I remember this scene so accurately. The episode seems to be good but it didn't stay in my memory at all for some reason :(
I love when repressed memories suddenly appear - it's definitely worth watching again!
It didn’t originally air on Disney channel but I know now it occasionally plays on there now so it’s not forgotten at least not forgotten by me
I vividly remembered that divorce song and none of the rest of the episode
I also like the difference of the alternate doof and the main doof, with the main doof being divorced while the alternate doof is still married technically
Ironically, Terry the Turtle is actually one of the faster characters in Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension for Wii.
Also, glad you mentioned one of the best movie games of all time.
It's such a fun game!
@@The2ndDimension Don't mean to plug but my most recent video is an original theme song I made for Terry the Turtle. I also own 45 copies of the game
Edit: I'm sorry if this came across as shameless self promotion, it's just so hard to find other people who care about the game.
@@The2ndDimension I'm also currently working on programming him (as well as Phineas, Ferb, and Perry) into a Fighting game (The moveset is entirely based on the game) and made a remix of the song made for the game (Get Gone) as well (it's a good song).
Needless to say I am a major Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension Wii fan. It's a shame it's rarely mentioned.
@@SuperIsaiah I checked it out that is AWESOME
@@The2ndDimension thanks
Wait, that episode was only 20 minutes?! It felt so much longer!
With a new season on the way I hope they can continue this story
Every now and then I walk around singing “The Convoluted Reasons We Pretend To Be Divorced” under my breath and people stare confused. Yeah
Great video! I remember watching this special episode on TV when it aired! It was neat seeing the 2nd Dimension lives. What I wonder is, do the 2nd Dimension characters still remember 1st Dimension characters or did they have their mind erased?
I think that brief mention of Terry the turtle was the only time I've ever heard anyone talk about the 2nd Dimension Video game. I played that game so much when I was younger and always played as Terry the Turtle
11:45 So did Tails in Sonic lost world take inspiration from Ferb or did Ferb take inspiration from Tails?
Or did they collaborate and share notes on how to get out of that special situation?
Candace probably calls the agents “graduates” because they went through some sort of training taught by Perry about how to use their new cybernetic bodies to the fullest
I want to know what the rest of Heinz’s family is doing in the second dimension. Does roger have the sad backstory?
I did not even know this existed until today. I've watched the movie when I was younger and I was craving more of the 2nd Dimension, that was 2014. 8 years later, I saw this video and knew this special episode's existence, watched it and well, there could've been something more. Not that disappointed though, I'm glad that this special made me happy and filled the cravings that I've had back in my childhood.
No joke, I think this is your best video yet. You're really starting to come into your style. You're definitely now adding more to the conversation about the stuff you talk about. Great job.
I defo would have loved this to become a full series
We need to summon Dan Povenmire to get this expanded more.
Oddly enough, Tales From The Resistance just so happens to sound like a title of a forgotten 90s cartoon & that's what I would've thought it was if you didn't say it was a Phineas & Ferb episode.
13:20 One of my favourite parts of the episode. Saying nobody saw it cos it was a deleted scene
Me: “Yes! I’ve finally finished watching every P&F episode and movie!
Me: **Sees this video**
Me again: **Sighs then turns on tv**
The song is fire
All the convoluted reasons we pretend to be divorced
I love unbelievably specific songs
I love this video so much and am looking forward to the crossover one with Star Wars, Marvel, and even Milo Murphy's Law.
Well this is my sign to binge all of the phineas and ferb episodes and specials…….. again
I actually fondly remember this episode! It used to be my favorite episode
I liked it. I just thought it was another phineas and ferb episode. Nothing special just a nice peak back into the 2nd Dimension.
I didn’t even know the episode existed until I saw your video comparing across the 2nd dimension and Candace against the universe
Yeah, a lot of people didn’t know that episodes from season 4 existed. Tales From the Resistance, Act Your Age, Last Day of Summer, OWCA Files, The Phineas and Ferb Effect, etc.
why can people in this dimension know about the secret agents without having their memories erased?
I think once Doof took over, they threw the OWCA rules out the window to build the strongest resistance
@@The2ndDimension Plus, Monogram was Doof's slave- er, unpaid executive assistant- so I'm sure there was a major managerial upheaval.
The "seeing OWCA agents results in memory erasure" thing is also a post-movie thing, especially since the whole thing relies on one of Doof's old inators rather than specialised OWCA equipment. Beforehand, they only had the relocation.
I think its because once Doof took over the 2nd dimension than he threw all the OWCA Rules out the window which is why Major Monogram was working for the 2nd Dimension Doofenshmirtz until the end of the movie
all the convoluted reasons we pretend to be divorced is one of the best songs in the series
I love this special because it was funny and I can't wait to see the video about the crossover specials Mission Marvel and Phineas and Ferb Star Wars!🌟✌❤😂🤖
The sad part is that is how the episode ended and Doof and fam wasn’t finished and Peter excsaped and not good again. Also Peter is a reference to it’s about time and meep’s return
Wait, did Buford say "I'd rather be breaking rocks for the state"?
A+ line right there.
Honestly, I would like to see another 2nd Dimension episode in Season 5 or 6.
I remembered the sequel Second Dimension
I have seen it several times on the DVD . Still a fun episode even all its flaws.
11:00 I love how all the cyborgs are all so massive compared to Perry, since in the episodes they usually appear in they are of similar size to him.
It actually did appear on Disney XD if I remember correctly, because I do remember watching it on TV not DVD
The Phineas and Ferb Star Wars DVD was the first time I heard of anything 2nd Dimension-related. I didn't even see the original movie yet.
I honestly loved this episode back when I watched it and it's the same by now. It's not really that confusing to me, but I would like a longer episode or even more episodes like this
the number of times this face at 6:44 pops up and zooms in is so ajskdlajda
THIS IS WHERE ALL THE CONVELUDED REASONS WE PRETEND TO BE DIVORCED IS FROM? I THOUGHT THAT WAS FROM THE MOVIE, I HAVE LISTENED TO THAT SONG LIKE 20 TIMES!
8:05 Most Favorite Part! Thanks 4 Doing That!
Congrats on your engagement dude
Thank you!
I forgot how savage Charlene was. She just TOSSED Choo-Choo off the balcony of her penthouse!
Candance didt fully leave the resistance, as if they ever need her he can still call her
With Doof still on the loose, he could still be planning his revenge, what I'm working on will give it more to go on
"If I had a Nickel for every time Vanessa Flew me out in a Flying car after trying to be Captured or Imprisoned I would have 2 Nickels, Which isn't a lot but it's still weird it happened twice"
was lowkey upset that he didn't finish the joke
A topic for a possible future video: The lost potential of Stacy knowing Perry’s secret identity. I’m sure a few stories coulda been made from that in future episodes.
With what I'm working on, maybe there will be more to it
I didn't forgot this because it's an entirely new episode with the characters from the movie!
There’s demand for another sequel. I’ll just give my ideas.
(Based on popular fanfic ideas)
Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Return to the second dimension.
Planned elements:
Phineas and Isabella are engaged.
I hope we go back to the 2nd dimension again in the new season
I watched it on TV and I knew about its existence for years now I just never mentioned it because I thought it was a dream thank God that wasn’t a dream
I watched it on Netflix. Back in 2016.
I honestly did not even know there was a sequel
Well, I remembered both the 2nd Dimension movie and its sequel. I made a Last Day Of Summer fanfic of the 2nd Dimension where Phineas-2D & Ferb-2D betrayed both of their safety, their sister Candace-2D, and the Doofenshmirtz-2D family and tookover the 2nd Dimension Tri-State-Area. Then I made a Candace Flynn fanfic about her 2nd Dimension counterpart needed her advice to bust the 2nd Dimension's Phineas & Ferb
I definitely remember being somewhat disappointed by this episode back when it came out but I wasn't sure why I was disappointed because I didn't remember the episode whatsoever. After watching a 17 minute video on it... I think I forgot again. This episode isn't real.
SPORTS SPORTS! SPORTS IS FUN
I never relies until now how much the video game Ratchet and Clank Rifts Apart’s story took from Phineas and Ferb Across the Second dimension.
i honestly love how convoluted everything was since it was supposed to show how shows make everything so complicated for no reason
Oh my god you just revived my memories of seeing this episode like once, thank you.
I now have an extreme desire to rewatch the entire series, too. SHIT-
Dude I remember the sports bit as a normal episode, what the
I think the first time I saw this episode was on TV, and I liked it.
The biggest highlight for me at the time was 2nd Dimension Ferb having more lines because he only sang one line of a song in the movie and one line in the Wii game.
I loved that episode. I wish we got a full series or at least second episode set in that dimension
This episode gave us one of the best songs - "Reasons we pretend to be divorced". I can't believe it's not on Spotify in any form, it's so good!
I have a question? Why was Doof still doing evil in the Christmas specials if he turned good at the end of Summer?
Old habits die hard I suppose, you wouldn't even imagine what his Thanksgiving was like
Maybe it was a Christmas before summer. I don’t think we ever got an actual date
i really like the fact that candace still cant handle the fact that she’s free to do anything because she’s lived so long trying to defeat doof and protect her brothers
it just feels realistic
I’ve thought for years that this was just at the end of the movie somehow. Like I also remember the end of the movie, but I thought this was just after the dimension 1 ending as a dimension 2 ending.
I was apparently very wrong.
I remember this episode! I saw it on TV before disney channel got removed here.
i remember watching this sequel on Disney Channel, wanting another sequel that never happened
3.9/10! Yeah, it’s no wonder why it was forgotten especially no one who’s talking about it. (And I was expecting that this it’s one of those sequels.) *Shudders*
Fun fact: This is the ONLY episode where Ferb's furthest eye is smaller in one shot.
7:16 You can tell this was made my Charlene, and not Heinz because its not an inator
Oh man I had no idea this episode existed and I’m so mad about it. I mean, come on! Charlene as the VILLAIN??? that is awesome!!
