There are very few things in The Henry Stickmin Collection that AREN'T a reference to some other game, movie, anime, or any innumerable other pieces of media. Throw in heaps of easter eggs, secrets, and more - and this little Flash series become a cultural phenomenon all of it's own! Finding the References is a celebration of this series, and the loving way it paid tribute to 100s of others.

This compilation trims out all the individual intros/outros from my previous videos, adds in references I missed, and corrected as many mistakes as possible. I suspect I've missed a couple references still, or managed to miss a mistake when cleaning things up. I don't think I need to tell you that compiling a video of this size was no small task. And I hope that you have just as much fun watching it as you do playing the game itself!

I think the character's name at approx. 56:43 might also be a reference to The Simpsons. There's a running gag in the show where Bart prank calls Moe and asks about a person who's name sounds like a funny phrase (i.e. Hugh Jass, Oliver Klozof, etc.). And "Al Coholic" has actually been used for the gag once.

The “Hey Buddy” from fleeing the complex has a origin. Puffballs United knew someone who knew someone who talked like that. So Puff was doing an imitation of the imitation of the guy who talked like that.

2:52 "Open sesame" prooooobably isn't meant as a reference to anything, but it originates from One Thousand and One Nights. It's a magic phrase that opens a secret passageway.

One thing you missed out: In the Free Man path, the option to use the laser that blows up earth instead of the toppats, the fail text reads: "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY" . This wouldn't mean anything in particular to the average Joe, but this a real life application used on the M18 Claymore mine. Seen in many shooter games, it's meant to inform the user which way to put the claymore up.

The reason why the prison in ETP is named Red Mesa in the bios but West Mesa in the game is because Puffballs United made the bios for the collection after making everything else so he forgot what the name was. Puff talked about that in the developer’s commentary on his TH-cam channel
At around 4:35:13 the transition from the clip to the gameplay is awesome and I feel it should be appreciated more haha
The Y-Type move from 5:30:05 is a reference to Pokemon Sun and Moon and their Z-moves. Henry even does a little dance beforehand similar to the Z-moves and the music during it sounds exactly like Pokemon battle music.

Edit: can’t believe I’m writing this, but The Wall themes themselves are another missed reference. The main theme and Complex Waltz, or the Presumed Dead ending theme is a reference to Dmitri Shostakovich due to the music sounding quite similar with some elements taken directly from Shostakovich’s pieces like Waltz No.2, which aligns with the warden being named Dmitri. 2:54 "Open sesame" is originally from the tale of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, as the password to get into their secret vault, but it has definitely been repeated so often that it's just in the cultural zeitgeist at this point.
Fun Fact: in the Build fail in Completing the Mission, the Steak that Henry drops is the only entity in all of Henry Stickmin to still be moving in the Fail Screen! You can see it clearly still rotating! It’s probably a glitch, but it’s still in the latest version of Completing the Mission to this day! 2:48:03
3:36:00 Yeah, sure, I guess, but this is SPECIFICALLY a reference to GTA San Andreas and how there's many wall clipping bugs that would let you go through the map, for example the gym in Ganton. Even the falling animation on Henry is EXACTLY the same as in the game. And the world above looks EXACTLY like it does here.

You actually hit that right on the head there. During the victory segment of "The First Turnabout" where Larry is your client, Mia Fey mistakenly calls him Harry Buttz.
And the snippet in the bio where they mention the clan making fun of his name is likely a spin on the saying "If Something Smells, It's Usually the Buttz" which the Ace Attorney series constantly reminds you was used during their Middle School years.
11:23 I think the two last ones should be swapped. "Be Efficient" has more to do with the "Shoot to Kill" part, and "Be Creative" has more to do with "Have a Plan to Kill Everyone You Meet."
There is one possibly really deep one I just realized. In 31:20 as henry goes for the kill with the machine gun next to the tank with the German cross, the gun fails him. Exactly this, and with a very similar machine gun happened to the person who tried assassinating Reinhard Heydrich in Prague, and the job had to be finished with a granade.
32:03 pretty sure the "pirate-ninja" is a reference to The Martian by Andy Weir, where Mark Watney (the titular Martian) decides to name one kilowatt-hour per Martian day a "pirate-ninja", a term which has since been partially adopted by the Curiosity rover team at JPL following the book's release.
E: also, at 4:44:04, the matchup of the 'turtle' nickname with the explosives expertise is probably a reference to asdfmovie's Mine Turtle gag.
During the painting portal fail you missed one small reference. The gun Jaques uses to kill Henry is another small reference to goldeneye's golden gun killing any enemy in one shot.
You missed the reference of Henry being less detailed because in Among Us he is a less detailed as a pet.

Possible missed reference: When Reginald retreats to his private escape pod and struggles against the vacuum of space due to a broken window, the way he curses Henry kind of reminds me of the way Doofenshmirtz says "CURSE YOU PERRY THE PLATYPUS!" in Phineas and Ferb. I know a lot about Phineas and Ferb, so maybe it's just me who thinks of this possible reference.
Fun fact: according to a developer commentary by Puff, Frosty and Freddy are canonically in the same building in FTC.

Broca's Aphasia is a neurological condition where a person can understand language but has trouble producing it, and one of the first recorded instances of this was a French patient who could only speak the word "ton". Could also explain the time travelling portion of his character profile
1:50:35 The Engineer in Team Fortress 2 uses one of two PDAs to build and destroy buildings, and the Spy's disguise kit is known internally as a PDA, although none of these look anything like the PDAs in-game, so the reference is tangential at best.
2:24:36 The description for "Kredit to team" reads "Watching credit make me STRONG!", likely a reference to Heavy's line of "Sandvich makes me STRONG!" in TF22.
2:28:11 Sal Mann is possibly a reference to Silas Mann, also known as the Horseless Headless Horsemann, a Scream Fortress (Halloween) boss in TF2, though this is a bit of a stretch.

For that Mass Effect conversation wheel reference, that part of the wheel is typically the "Investigate" button which gives you dialogue options that don't advance the dialogue tree which is why it isn't a plot-advancing option. (I'm not sure if this was unclear or just an oversight but I felt like it deserves mentioning.)

The "you were doing so well" at 2:21:37 is most likely a reference to Surgeon Simulator, in that game when you fail the text is fairly close to that scene.

3:52:28 I'm fairly sure that the movement/animation that happens as Henry deflects the bullet is a reference to "Lethal League", a game where you keep hitting a ball to deflect it at the enemy players dodgeball style. The brief slow-mo/pause as the impact between the hammer and the bullet happens is especially similar to when you get a perfect hit in Lethal League.
The pause on hitting the ball in those games is to give player time to react and it happens based on the speed but yes 100% this

The Gravity inverter at 5:04:24 I HEAVILY believe is a Mega Man reference.
In Mega Man 5 you fight Gravity Man, who of course is able to Flip Gravity at will.
The coloration of the Gravity inverter is what sells it to me, as they are almost a direct match to Gravity Man's own pinkish red + blue coloration.

8:19 This fake out fail screen used the old sound used from the old flash game of Escaping The Prison, indicating that it is old and followed by the current fail screen with the new fail sound. This is the only time where an old fail sound remained in the Henry Stickmin Collection.
Even if you turn in the toppats or work with the goverment, you end up in the complex. This implies that henry couldn't turn in his pardon because he couldn't properly pronounce library. I don't know what to do with this information, but it fits and is funny as hell.
Idk how many other people have pointed this out already, but I think "Somewhere In The Southwest" in Chapter 2 is meant to be a Madness Combat reference, specifically the iconic line "Somewhere In Nevada." I looked it up, and Nevada is technically part of the Southwestern US.
EDIT: I think the "Intruder On A Scooter" line is meant to be a reference to a meme format I've seen that always starts with "You've heard of Elf On A Shelf, now get ready for..."

I think Henry never died in Revenged, just because there are many instances where henry completes the mission and dies that are counted as fails, one of them in Revenged route. If Henry died in the ending, why would they count crashing the airship into both of them as a fail if it would have the same outcome?
Fun fact: ninjas actually don’t use katanas they use swords called ninjato swords which are shorter and straight instead of curved so in stealing the diamond if it was referencing pirates vs ninjas they did it without doing proper historical accuracy… in a museum… also katanas should always be sheathed with their saya because of physics and stuff. Anyways how was your day today? Was it good? Hopefully you learned something about Japanese history from me in this paragraph no one will read. I had soup for lunch today

He's only ever seen twice, both times in Trials & Tribulations (the third game of the series). The first time is in the flashback case, which was Mia Fey's and Miles Edgeworth's first trial, which...ended poorly.
The second time is in the final case; due to some...shenanigans involving Phoenix falling from a burning bridge and getting a cold from the frigid river below, Miles Edgeworth has to sub in for him the next day. However, as Miles is a prosecutor, he and his adoptive sister arrange Franziska von Karma for a different judge to be used, otherwise the whole substitute thing wouldn't work - so they get the regular man's brother, who has a Canadian accent, oddly enough.
The next court session has Phoenix recovered enough to return - just in time for the brother to get a cold of his own, and thus the regular Judge returns.
Yeah, it's kinda weird. The brother's not been seen nor mentioned since, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In my AU, Henry technically HAS gone through every single Fail, Death and Ending.
