Thanks for the review Tom. I managed to get the Windforce. I'm happy to hear about the cooling.. Not so happy about the sag. But the bracket should fit in my case.
9 months later, Please please tell me do you regret your buy, should the OC model have been better or are you completely satisfied with the performance and thermals? Kindly let me know, trust me I am banging my head against a wall with all the negative reviews for the Windforce and preferring the OC, I am so flabbergasted, help me out, should i go with Windforce?

Just got the windforce I am planning on vertical mounting this beast as well! Great review, cant wait to fire up cyberpunk and really put it through its paces!
When it comes to GPU's I've always gone for the '80 ti' version, going all the way back to the 700 series, with the Titan/-90 Versions I've never been interested in what is basically double VRAM and 5-10% performance difference but for the first time ever I found myself buying a 4090, and I am absolutely how speechless how powerful this card is.
This card is the first 4K true ultra high refresh rate card. and the biggest generational leap there has ever been.
I might sound insane, a price offering of around £1500 UK might almost reasonable for this card. (but completely ignore the disgusting pricing on anything prices above)
Most previous flagships have always been marketed as 4K capable, going back to when DSR came around in 2015 during the 900 series. But I wouldn't say until now with the 4000 series that true crank everything to 4K ultra and forget has become possible.
Having a 3090 Suprim X, and a Gigabyte OC 4090 on the way, I'm thinking of cancelling and waiting for the Suprim X.
Vertical graphs are cool, except that you have to tilt your head to read the text, which is too small anyway.
And the graphs are far too cluttered when there's a lot of cards in there.
You could also probably drop the decimals to simplify it further.
The 4090 Windforce is cool and huge but the AORUS MASTER is 3 cm longer LOL
Managed to get a Gigabyte 4090. I wish it was a triple slot tank, but I'll just use the bracket that they include.

Keep in mind it's bin lottery with these cards. You could get 10 of each brand 4090 and won't see any correlation between which brand pulls more power or higher clock speeds
Yeah, I almost bought the ASUS one as a few reviews I'd seen was that it was the best, then I encountered a comment saying that the max difference between cards was like 6%, and average of 3%, so I got the Windforce coming in next week.
2% can be entirely eaten up by the temps that the device ends up getting too pretty quickly, and isn't worth 25% more.
@@Dark3nedDragon those tiny percentages are only for the OC hobbyist. No one could notice the real world performance differences, only the lights and fan noise
The problem with the founders edition is the one year warranty compared to 4 year with gigabyte.
How was coil whine on the cards?
@@Jerome-iwnl some rdna2 cards had horrible coil whine so the coil whine question is valid.
Gigabyte and Msi are known for small coil whine noise, but really the best solution is just underclocking
My Gigabyte 4090 has coil whine, it's not bad. The stupid GPU supports bracket it the problem as it blocks my USB 3.0 port and the 12vhpwr adapters are a nightmare to fit pcie adapters in to.

Hi Tom, thanks for the vid - i just purchased the 4090 Suprim X. We have the same case (500d) - do you see any issues regarding the gpu width and power cable hitting the side panel? Will there be a serious bend on the power cable?

Great review as always Tom! Was lucky enough to pick up the Suprim X today and very much looking forward to see how it will perform in MSFS2020 with my Varjo Aero! Where I hope it will give me those last FPS in some situations to have the perfect smoothness I'm looking for. I was already able to get much closer to that by replacing my 8086K with a 129000KS a couple of weeks ago. Looks like I'll have to live on bread and water for the next few months 😂 Crazy expensive hobby but cruising through the clouds in VR makes it all worth it!

The 4090 with the Aero is absolutely amazing! Finally giving the performance we always wanted while still having a great visual experience. Fact is, when I installed the 4090, I noticed how my 12900K was the bottleneck according to OpenXR Toolkit. I then decided to get the 13900K and was able to sell my 12900KS without losing to much money. With the 13900K and the 4090, the performance in MSFS is very well balanced and I've never had a better VR experience!

love me some vanilla ice cream. thanks for doing such in depth reviews over the years, just watched halfway through a 4090 review on another channel then thought to myself "wait a minute I bet Tom has a video out by now..." then sure enough closed out of the other one and popped yours on, they are always long winded and great fun!
Thanks for the review matey, great stuff. The performance margins are very similar between the 3 4090s here. Think I may just grab a nice study, carefully-designed, metal-laden (and chunky looking) founders edition and not stress over an extra frame here or there. I'll take the plunge tomorrow either way. I'll have some nice fruity vapes now and pretend I'm eating ice-cream vapour : ) Cheers man!
Update: well, it's Hungry Hungry Hippos out there trying to snaffle any of these 4090s folks, so i've just gone with the first one I could find before getting sold out again. Zotac Trinity OC. Let the frames begin!

I bought the gigabyte as it was $400 cheaper than the rest here in New Zealand. The cards weren't anywhere near $1600. The windforce was $3600 and sold out in 5 hours. It's never been in stock since. The next cards are $4000-$4600. Even when the conversion rate is 1:1.74. The Windforce is amazing. It's quiet and sleek and it has the same damn performance. It's MUCH cooler than my old 3070, even when cranking 4k, ultra Cyberpunk. The Gigabyte runs cooler than the Suprim ffs lol. What, you get 1.5FPS less at 4k? OH DEAR.

@@thatmatty231guy Gigabyte is good. I have the base model and it works absolutely fine. I would be paranoid going with PNY or a cheaper brand, though I don't believe going MSI has any noticeable advantages over gigabyte with 4090s

Hey OC3D TV, I'm stuck on deciding what card to go for, I really like the Gigabyte 4090, I have an all black build my case is the corsair 5000D airflow in black, right now I'm running an i9-12900K with a 12GB 3060 and 32GB of DDR4 Planning to upgrade to DDR5 later this year, what card would you personally go for?
The price of a GPU is 539 pints of beer or 1.5 pints a day for the rest of the whole year and 5 days of no beer torture. I'm so glad i don't drink alcohol! SO NO Beer for a year at £3.95 per pint and you have your self a Suprim 4090. Probably will keep my Sapphire AMD Radeon Nitro + 6900 XT OC for a little itsy bit while longer Mr |Tiny Tom| :D
Always happy to see you with that shirt! That FE makes me want to build an m-atx with a NH-D15S on a cube case, but those aftermarket cards don't look that nice to me. I like the new graphs, but it's a bit hard to see which one belongs to which card, and I always have to turn my head and squint my eyes to figure that out. Vanilla ice cream is my favourite, so i'll take one, thank you very much.

Watching this on my phone. I am unable to decipher these graphs at all. Might be worth some consideration for your next video unless your confident your main audience is viewing on PC’s. 🤷🏼♂️ I’m streaming at a high quality as well, iPhone 14 max ultra.
Not looking for a 4090, but if the 4080s and high end 7000s are similarly sized, I'm more interested in the water cooled gpus just for in case size alone.
I saw a video where it has been said the majority of improvement over last gen with the 4080s is all going to be because of DLSS 3.0. We will see.
The 4080 might not be worth it. For 400 dollar more you will get a 30% or more uplift in fps. And if you are already throwing around 1200 dollars, what's an extra 400? It might be worth it just go all out.

Really no point going for more expensive models. FE is the best, if you can get it.
timestamps and UV results would have been nice to set yourself apart from bigger channels that already provide the same infos. Still, good video.

you're the perfect gentleman who can help me out with this dilemma, I am conflicted between buying the WINDFORCE Edition which you have OR the OC version, which granted has bigger fans but the difference between the 2 seems negligible for the price point, I am from India and here taxes are all time high and the OC version costs me way more than I was expecting, but since It's a long term investment, I thought I might choose that OR if the thermals and the overclocking and the temps are good enough on the Windforce I'll go with this, So please Kind sir, help this fella out, is the price uplift worth it or should I go with the Windforce model, give me an honest to god suggestion. I don't like the vertical graphs. You have to turn your head everytime you need to read the names of the GPUs etc
600w power limit does nothing when voltage is limited past 450w

The margins are so small between all the 4090 card's it just doesn't make sense to me. Especially that the warranty on these cards range from 4 years upwards.
returned my Trio version... wasnt happy with the 3-1 power limit , went back to a 7900 XTX, which is ok, but, the 4090 is a true monster .... $800 more though
Well, now I have had the 4090s. 2xSuprim and 1xTuf and all three have annoying buzzing/coil whine.
Try borrowing a friends PSU - over the years I have found that the changing the PSU can solve coil whine in GPU's .....
@@OC3D Tried a Corsair HXi 1500w and an EVGA P6 1000w. Both are made by Seasonic so for the hell of it I am trying a Be Quiet 1200w tomorrow. I am thinking it's the GPU lottery again as there are forums full of people with CW. Seems to have hit the FE/Suprim and Tuf cards the most.

@@drstancpa9211 Btw, my windforce won't go past 106% on MSI afterburner, so it seems to be a low power limit board. Doesnt matter though, still scoring 19950+ Timespy Extreme as it holds 3ghz fairly solid at 100% power.

What CPU using?
The gpu bench rig has been a 3950x for a while (so everything can be compared) but the 4090 is so good we will be upgrading and redoing the testing soon
I dont think that's dual slot Guv and I think a few simpletons might be a bit confused by the statement.
Also I think the msi price might have been a "safety" artificially inflated one. It'll drop to match the gigabyte instantly, if it was my money I might go msi... but each to their own.

I think the FE cards are binned esp. the 4090's. stock 2720mhz at 1.050mv. Stays very cool and quiet under 57.1c under full 4k load with fans under 40%. I did a UV @ 980mv + 2810mhz and +420mem clock. and got performance across the board. Stable at higher clocks with 7 degress off. Dunno if all FE 4090's are equal but mine is a beast and very lucky to have paid just 400 more then msrp 0.0... o well, i use my pc for work so worf. Good vid.

I have a Suprim RTX 3070 and boy, that was big. 4090 version will break my GPU support! I choose not to buy it and I think many will pass. This card is for people with the spare cash and 4K 120 FPS monitors. I look forward to your RDNA 3 reviews. I want to see AMD's new GPU designs, hopefully smaller and more efficient (and cheaper)!

@@OC3D Did the Windforce card allow the +33% to the power limit, to go from 450W to 600W power limit? I know the Gaming OC card does, as does the FE, so I'm curious about the Windforce and Gaming (non-OC).
I don't like vanilla ice cream, or any ice cream, so I'll just give mine to you TTL.

Feedback: The vertical graphs are both ugly and hard to read. I don't say that to be mean but darker colours would be easier on the eyes. You went for grey, grey, white and two brightnesses of red. This makes it quite ugly with far too much contrast.
All the same brightness is better, for example your white and bright red are just too much. Also you've got all the colours of rainbow you choose from and you used grey and red twice each and white, which is completely devoid of colour.
The vertical layout makes all the text and numbers a pain to read, as well as the white font on a black square is too much contrast and looks amateurish. I assume you don't have a graphic artist on the team. Perhaps take inspiration from LinusTechTips or GamersNexus, both of whom have quite nice looking graphs that are easy to read.
Keep in mind that I give feedback because I enjoyed your content. If I was just hating on your graphs without giving a damn about your channel I'd just slurp my tea loudly while furrowing my brow then move on with my day. I complain because I care and well, you asked for feedback 😉👍
Personally I've decided to avoid Gigabyte products and I tend to keep it that way. Not saying everyone else should do the same, but I've had my share of troubles with Gigabyte and I've crossed them out of my list.
Register your Gigabyte within 30 days of purchase and get an extra 1 year warranty. That is 4 years warranty total, I think that is a nice incentive to buy Gigabyte even if something might go wrong at some point.

over 2k is what 2 months wages with some change left over for food lol a carers wage is just shy of a grand this day and age and financing a gpu that's what 3k ish lol, tbh i'd love this gens gpus but be some time before i bag one prob get a second hand one for half when the time is right :)

Paying the extra £300 on a card that can't even overclock that much more over the FE makes no sense. They're all voltage limited. Get the cheapest one!

@@fay2230 imagine if 5600 handle it at 4k highest settings 5% loss plus i will use my Cooler Master 750 SFX PS (4090 it's very power-efficient), I will be saving about 600 bucks THE 4090 COST ABOUT GRAND. a thousand bucks is nothing FOR 4090.

just buy the cheapest card avaible , and undervolt it . Silent/cold and power efficient and still provide 99% of it's stock power.
The GPU fans (at least at stock speed curve&gpu power @stock) making less noise than high quality bigger sized(as in not thin/small) fans on a big quality CPU cooler? I know peoples ears/hearing differs*... but mine has to say kekw like hell they are, at stock("silent bios" fan curve, GPU power etc) according to Guru3D its (MSI Suprim) slightly louder/similar compared to my current GPU, 3090 MSI Gaming X Trio(at its stock fan curve etc, in their test)... and it's deffinitely not quieter than my CPU coolers fans*, even with GPU being undervolted/underclocked and GPU load temp/fan speed being adjusted so it maxes around 72°C.
*Which I seem to also be sensitive to electronic what not noise or something... so the GPU fans motor or something noise makes it even more annoying, which pretty sure heard on most GPU's I've had... tho good thing Noctua has appeared with putting its full size PC fans with an Asus GPU, so hopefully next GPU I get my ears should finally for sure get some peace from damn fan motor whatever elecrtonic noise.
*My CPU cooler being IceGiant Prosiphon Elite and the 4 fans on it are Noctua NF-A12x25's.

I prefer quiet mode, I want the card to be silent or next to silent. It costs a ton of money, so I would not agree with anything less than that. For me, 4090 Gigabyte Gaming OC is insanely loud - I can hear it over the game when it gets to 100% load. It's BY FAR the loudest component in my entire PC when I'm gaming. So I'm looking at what other AIBs can offer in terms of noise.

They are not being directly compared in that way, they are showing people either ends of the spectrum. Its also all I had for launch :p
Terrible pricing but fantastic performance. All consumer goods are dictated by the customers. If we don't pay they do lower prices or they won't sell simple as....
Actually I got both the 4090 suprim and fe but I guess I’m selling the Msi, because the fe just fits better in my case and I also prefer the looks of the fe for some reason. The performance upgrade isn’t high enough for me to consider.

@@AmEeN7TF If your case is big enough, and your airflow is really good. Go for the Msi. If you got a smaller case and the Msi barely fits in it. Go for the fe. I also would say choose the design you like more. I prefer the looks of the fe + it’s better in my case because of the airflow. Msi is slightly faster, and with good airflow slightly cooler. Overall I think Msi is up to 4% faster then the fe without oc.
If you maybe want to put a custom waterblock on your card in the near future. I also would say go for the fe.
Overall imo I would say choose the card design you prefer more, the few % that the Msi is faster isn’t really important.

Nice review. Got a 4090 suprim. It was 200eur cheaper than GB here in Lithuania. Strange but prices are sll over the place now, managed to snag suprim for 2200eur while others that are available currently go 2300-2500eur.
I have now had 2 of them and am not happy with the coil whine. How is yours?
@@mrmrgaming mine runs perfect so far. My system fans are bit noisy so dont even hear GPU under lighter loads. Did not hear any coil whine maybe I would if I turn off case fans.
@@teddyoflove5897 Looking online it seems to be 50/50 again. I don't mind a bit (more power=more chance), but I think I need to try another just so I can rest easy at night lol
