    West Yorkshire is full of crumbling old mills and engineering factories, neglected and sadly forgotten. The only life there today being ghosts from the past. I'm sure sounds of footsteps and the rattle of those weaving machines will be embedded in the very fabric of the walls and floors. I say love it all for what it was in the past and respect it as it stands today. The industrial north was once the greatest in the world and it makes me proud to be a northern lass myself. Well done Anthony - brilliant! 💚 Take care.

    Brilliant!, really captured the atmosphere of the place. The words Blood, Sweat and Tears kept coming to mind as i watched. You and ya Dad would love it here... Mountain here is covered in the old slate work mills, a village and caves. Still full of old broken tools. Shelves full of rusty giant nuts n bolts etc. Never tire of looking for new initials and dates etched into the slate and stone walls as we walk dogs. Old work boots and mugs left in benches.
    Touching to see.. Slate built this village. Towers of slag surround us, left over the years as they dug through the earth and blasted out it's very heart. Best walks are through history

    Great video again and a nice poem. Old mills like these are what turned the United Kingdom into a world power. My friends Dad probably worked in a mill like one of these when he was young and living over there. He used to be a machinist working an old Davenport screw machine. I don't know how it is in the UK, but here in the US there are not very many trade schools around anymore. Most of the younger generation are preoccupied with getting a college degree instead of learning an honest trade.

    • @daftmonkey7296
      @daftmonkey7296  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot Paul, you are right mate. These places was the backbone to countries success. It’s a crying shame that places like this and the ones you speak of in America are just left to wreck and ruin so to speak. And like you said people are more interested in getting college degrees as opposed to learning an actual craft...which is sadly becoming something of a bygone thing. Thanks once again mate and keep yourself safe. Take care ⭐️👍🏼

Why hasn’t a museum nor English heritage stepped in and documented it or maybe put it all on display to show the younger generations what it was like for there great grandparents . Do you have any interest in asylums? I think your standard and style of work could be very entertaining and rewarding. I hope you don’t mind messages from an old lad, but it’s rare to see young lads with such a firm grip on working class history but also with the aptitude for quality work.

      @daftmonkey7296  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark and thank you for the message. Yeah I absolutely love them. If you go through my videos you will see one I did called Cheadle Asylum. I just wish I could access more places like that because I think it brings the best out of my filming if I’m being honest.
      I come from a working class background and I am working class too so I suppose that’s why I feel such a connection to that area of work. They were true grafters back in the day as you may well know. They was also real craftsmen and sadly that sort of work seems to be drying up in some ways and the skill set these people had is sort of becoming less and less of a trade.
