  • Come join me on a walk through the vibrant neighborhood of Zamalek in Cairo, Egypt! From the bustling streets to the peaceful parks, this neighborhood has something for everyone. We'll explore the local shops and markets, try some delicious Egyptian street food, and take in the stunning views of the Nile River. Whether you're a first-time visitor to Cairo or a seasoned traveler, this walk through Zamalek is sure to be a treat. So grab your camera and let's go!
    On the Nile island of Gezira, cosmopolitan Zamalek is home to cultural powerhouses like the Cairo Opera House, a grand riverside venue for performing and visual arts. Paintings and sculptures at the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art span the 20th and 21st centuries, while independent galleries focus on emerging local artists. Refined global restaurants and chic cafes sit alongside embassies and upscale hotels.

    Great video and many thanks.
    Cairo is a great place and people are very friendly.
    My first week was at the Zamalek Hilton, the rest of my seven months was at a nice apartment, 5 minutes round the corner at Samir Zaki. I walked to the office some mornings at the World Trade Centre, along the way I would say Sabeth Kerr (good morning) to friendly embassy guards, they all would respond with the same; a quiet peaceful morning walk, over the 15 May Bridge across the Nile, and a fantastic view of Cairo from the bridge.
    A pleasant memory and I will go back one day to have another look.
    Thanks again for the video.

      Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your experience of living in Cairo with me. It sounds like you had a great time exploring the city and making connections with the local people. The Zamalek Hilton and the apartment you stayed in both sound like wonderful places to stay, and it's great to hear that you had such a pleasant morning routine walking to the World Trade Centre. The 15 May Bridge is certainly a beautiful spot with a great view of Cairo, and it's nice to hear that it was a memorable part of your time in the city. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and that it was able to bring back some pleasant memories for you. I hope that you have the opportunity to return to Cairo someday and make even more great memories.

    Great video, If I may suggest the next spot would be heliopolis (masr el gedeeda) near by the baron palace that you filmed earlier, specifically (مصر الجديدة، روكسي و الكربة) Roxy and el korba area, also el mohandseen share'e gamet el dowal ( شارع جامعة الدول العربية) and soor nadi el zamalek (سور نادي الزمالك)

    • @4KWorldWandering
      @4KWorldWandering  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for the suggestion! It sounds like you have some specific locations in mind for the next video. Heliopolis is an interesting area of Cairo with a lot of history and landmarks, and the Roxy and El Korba neighborhoods as well as El Mohandseen and Gamet El Dowal Street are all worth exploring. It would definitely be interesting to feature some of these locations in a future video. Do you have any particular landmarks or attractions in these areas that you think would be particularly interesting to include?

      @@4KWorldWandering are you going back there? Your zamalek walking video is one of my top favourite whenever I want to revisit zamalek I wish it was a bit longer though! I would say in heliopolis go to Korba area its a must, go to Barron Palace, go to meriland Park if it's open I heard its been renovated, just walk all over Roxy area and it's various streets, in Mohandseen I would say go to Gamet el dewal St. , go to (soor nadi el zamalek) it's the zamalek football club back street where so many shops and restaurants are there but let's hope they have finished the Metro constructions as this entire area has been shut down due to metro constructions it's a great walking and shopping area, also if you can check El sheikh zaid District and one more request try some local food in your walks ❤❤❤

    anything i might say, having first lived there in the 50s, as a child, then my family leaving, due to Nasser, would be incomprehensible to anyone there today or any tourists walking through. although many of the buildings are still there, there is no relationship between who used to live there then and what you see in this vid today. how beautiful an island it was. how broken my heart is to see it today. but nasser succeeded, in his rage against the upper classes, of turning this privliged sanctuary into a hara baladi. maybe someone burn his tombstone one day.

      @@atefeldib3092 I went twice for the antiquities,which are world class.The third time because Egypt commands one of only 3 access routes across the Sahara to Sudan and black Africa! I have to say,Egyypt on my last visit was extremely hostile and dangerous for a solo traveller.I was several times abused and threatened on the streets simply for being a tourist.At the railway station of Luxor,a policeman took me to his office and demanded * backsheesh*. I was ripped off everytime l bought anything.I think you will find most western tourists have similar experiences.This is the effect of 150 years of mass tourism which always increases corruption in 3 rd. World countries!
