Well.. he is right... the science they were talking about wasn’t very accurate at all. A LOT of misinformation. Even the fact they couldn’t diagnose her for so long is quite shocking actually since her mom and Grandmother are doctors?! I guess they may have been in denial...
The rest of people were just mis-informed, because we only know about Type 2 diabetes (which is a completely different disease, despite sharing the name, they are very very different in their nature).
      Much love.

type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with pregnancy, people can conceive easily, problem is type 1 is genetic, which means very high likely chances of getting kids with type 1 too at childhood.

Disease is a stigma is Pakistani society. My ex husband and in laws thought I was faking a chronic illness and told people I was using it as an excuse to stay at my parents home. There is a link between my disease and stress and my marriage caused my illness to worsen over time because of emotional stress. I am pretty sure my in laws also started to think of me as damaged goods and a burden to their son.
Alhamdullilah my illness made me stronger and I can now do things I could not do in the marriage. I also gained the strength to leave a toxic marriage. Sana's message is spot on; dont let anyone think of your disease or disabilities as a weakness and if they do, they do not deserve you.
Some diseases are invisible so dont think that people are not facing day to day struggles because they are, and are very good at hiding it.
May Allah bless us with good health. Ameen

As a Pakistani type 1 diabetic female this is very true.I was diagnosed at the age of four and I also remember how people used to come to our house to do "afsos" as if somebody had died.People would always say to my mother "ab apki bachi le chere se chamak chali gai hai"...hearing that growing up broke my heart into pieces,on top of that the pain of needles, people's judgement and feeling different from the rest of the society was alot for me mentally.I remember telling my teachers about my condition, they would either laugh at me or tell me to shutup because I'm making excuses to bunk class.I'm very thankful that I live in America now where people have open awareness about my disease.I'm also sooo very thankful to you,Kanwal. We need more people like you because someone somewhere right might be watching this and will learn not to pass judgement on people who have a disease they never asked for.

After watching this episode i felt like this is my story.. I am also suffering from type I juvenile diabetes, this got diagnosed when i was 5 years old. I also faced a lot of hardships people judged me. But my parents supported me and never let me felt that I have some issue inside me. Today I am myself a doctor and living me life like any normal person. Yes I am an insulin dependent but trust me guys if you have proper knowledge about any health condition you can cope up with it and lead a very normal and happy life. There are lot of stigma about type I diabetes and if you are suffering from it or any of you loved one then just educate yourself and people around you about it. Just follow a healthy life style and live happily

    MashaAllah.
Having lived in Pakistan and Canada, i can say this with conviction that we desis just need a reason to stop living a normal life and ofcourse the society endorses for same. I still can't get the visual out of my memory from years back when i must have been 12-14 years old. For the first time in my life i saw an a human being who looked more like a robot. It was an old guy on an automated wheelchair, all alone and he was at the pharmacy to collect his meds. He could not speak, he pressed some buttons on his chair and a machine spoke for him. I was astonished, i could not believe it. Because we desis packup anyone who gets paralysed. We treat them like cracked pieces which are carefuly packed and put away.
I am glad this girl's life did not stop just because she had a condition. May Allah give her and everyone good health, Aameen.

This shows the level of our healthcare system and unprofessionalism of doctors. It is so disappointing to see that without diagnosing the condition properly by carrying out certain tests they would give patients medicines based on their mere guess. That glucose drip part was truly shocking and horrible.

    From 3rd yr medical student
She has Type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes which is prevalent in young children/adolescent and is genetically linked.(similar symptoms to the common type 2 diabetes but much severe and rarer as type 1 frequently require insulin injections to lower glucose)
Noted symptoms in diabetes is increased glucose in urine
    Frequent urination, hunger and thirst
If anyone you know is facing symptoms as these,it's best to contact a doctor as soon as possible with lifestyle modifications (diet and exercise)

Hey thnks for sharing this it really inspired me to tell my part of story...
I m a dentist by profession and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two years back at the age of 21.i was having symptoms such as Polydipsia, polyphagia and polyuria as I was always on a chubbier side it got noticed due to a sudden weight loss. The doctor misdiagnosed it as 'migraine' and at that very moment I told him I don't have any history of migraine in my family instead try and check for my sugar level. I don't knw how I got that in my mind that may be I should check my sugar level. The reading came out to be 396 . Everyone was shocked. He was like ma'am u need to be hospitalized ASAP. I declined that and said I will do all the tests and then will decide what to do next instead. I was not able to gulp it. I was still in that trauma since in our medical profession we deal n studied this through all our lives and the worst part was I knew what complications I might face in future. I was in depression for a while. When I came back to my college I somehow managed to hide it from others. But sooner or later someone has to get this. I was shattered. Still I have to take two shots daily. Hopefully our society becomes more liberal about it so that girls like me do not face any obstacles in their life with respect to marriage cause we live in a society where it is of utmost importance. I m really thankful that because of you I could convey my story here. Stay healthy 🥰

Black seed is shifaa for every disease except death. I have read this in a Hadeeth of Rasul

I want to correct 2 things over here, without being judged that I am being overeffienct or rude.
FIRSTLY WHY DID HER NANNY WAS SHOCKED??? she might have studied in her medical life.
Type 1 hoti he young mein hain.
SECONDLY why does her mother said you cant give birth? HER MOTHER BEING A DOCTOR HERSELF how can she say such things jiska medical se koi taluq nae , kis book mein likha hai aisa?
    She was a doctor HERSELF!!
MEDICAL SCIENCE TOU AISA KEHTI HE NAE HAI .
    :)

May be back at that time things weren’t that advanced.
Many years back there was no such treatment for cancer stage 1 also.
So, possibilities are that many years back things were on old concepts, new searches didn’t take place till that time. So thats why the her nani and mom were like that.
Plus Pakistan has always been 10- 15 years behind from world’s medical science.

Sana Farrukh, I was thinking exactly the same. Type 1 diabetes is not a mystery. It’s not a newly discovered illness either I’ve dealt with type 1 diabetes patients as young as 2 yrs old, about 28 yrs ago, Are her mother & grandma not well read or maybe they are just up to date with the medical knowledge.
It’s a well known fact that these ladies can not only easily get pregnant but they can have healthy babies.
Totally misinformed family members who claim that they are doctors with medical degree.

No FARHAT JAHAN, this girl looks like she may be 24 or 25 yo age. Type 1 diabetes was in existence good 30 some years ago. I’ve myself dealt with a toddler as young as a 2 yr of age who had presented with symptoms of excessive eating & weight loss, She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes while I was in a pediatric training program in early 90s in the USA. I think that this girl’s doctor relatives are not updated with their medical knowledge. That’s all.

This is so inspirational and makes me feel how bad public awareness is needed regarding medical conditions, diabetics can always have children, just some extra care is required during pregnancy. I wish someday I could run public awareness campaigns in Pakistan.

Nice . Medical Science never says that type 1 women will never have kids. Unfortunately in Pakistan generally people thinks like this. I don’t understand why her mom thought this even though she was a doctor. I am a mother of type 1 kid. When she was diagnosed, her doctor first words were that she will get married and will have kids. You are such a courageous lady. I will show this video to my daughter.
