My two girl piggies are absolutely obsessed with this channel it is hilarious and gives you good tips on how to really take care of them I’ve bought a couple of different hideouts that we have seen in your videos and they love them !!!
Thanks Sarah- that was fun! I did our full cage clean this afternoon with deep clean too- it’s a mammoth task with six piggies in an 8 by 4 ft cage and a 3 by 4 C&C run! Your guys looked very happy with their lovely clean cage. Have a great weekend xx
Just cought you before bed! Roxy looked so cute in this video😂 and cage cleaning videos are always just so fun to watch idk. Have a good Thursday! ~Beatrise
Baby Kali looks ADORABLE!!! Bless Pedro, that PRECIOUS BOY, RIP Pedro, you know Sarah, I didn't know if the piggies would take to the hammock, but THEY LOVE IT!! I'm going to message you on Etsy, I bought 2 hammocks to go with the stand, but I want at least one more, maybe two, it's SO CUTE to see them jump in the hammock, with their head to the side, snoozing away!
I have been watching your channel for like three days and I am already subscribed because I need help on taming my Guinea pigs and you have helped alot
Thank you for this video. Just one part I don't understand - which is placing the fleeces etc into a pillow case. Surely this traps the piggy hair and hay so that it stays on the fleeces? Although of course it doesn't clog up the washing machine. I keep used bathwater and add a good squeeze of Milton. All the cotton blankets and fleeces are soaked for 1 hour or more. As I empty the bath, I put a drain filter across the plug hole to catch hair & hay. May also use the bath spray to sluice off any leftover debris before squeezing out the fleeces and carrying them to the washing machine for a short light wash. It takes time - but I am trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible - and also not ruin my washing machine. Any other ideas welcome.
I am very impressed with two things 1. How did they stay in that litter tray?? My pigs would’ve jumped out immediately. 2. How did that laundry pile manage to stay standing as she continued to throw more fleece on top of it??
Hint for your hay tray - to avoid staining around the edges of the plastic box (where the wee has leaked through) - raise the folded edge of the newspaper, so that it stands up 1 - 2 inches all the way around the inside edge - this traps & absorbs the wee. ( Sorry about the long question comment below. I have no idea of how to contact you personally and I don't below to any social media groups. But perhaps other commenters may have soem good tips too!)
Hi Sarah, I wanted to say thank you for all the information!! And for having that list up on Amazon US making it quick and easy... I have to take care of one for a girlfriend while she goes into surgery and recover. She had it for two months. But I learn alot from you. Worried it I need to get him a friend. I added a big box to the cage to have more room. And I'm building a big cage. I feed it better than she could. I think it's happy. Just see all the time needed to take care of them. You do a wonderful job.. Love watching you so informidable. Thanks you!!
Hiii love your channel! You're the one who inspired me to get guinea pigs❤!!! Quick question though, should you change out the guinea pigs hay daily even if it's full? New Guinea pig owner!! LOL ❤
Hiii, I wanted to ask if you have a video about how you built or where you bought your enclosure, it's so nice I hope to build one myself that large for my future guinea pig. Thank you so much for these videos 🥰
Thank you Hannah! I'm afraid they are now all reserved from this batch - they'll be more available next year. I usually announce it first on my Facebook page :)
Hiya, I absolutely love watching your videos, they’re very interesting, and I just love the layout of the piggies enclosure, was just wondering where abouts did you get the small wooden hideaway from? Thank you!!! Xx ❤
hey, so I recently got a baby guinea pig for my other guinea pig after his friend died, I heard that babies have different dietary requirements and I'm wondering how to get the food to the baby but not to the older one as they live in the same cage. Thank you so much for ur videos they rlly helped when I was researching guinea pigs.
This is something i would imagine an every week thing? I will get 2 girl piggies soon! Im just not sure what bedding to use. Liners have really catched my attention, but im just very unsure how often to clean it. Do you change the liner once or twice a week? And what do you need to put under it?
I have been using reuseable incontinence pads under my fleece.... ive neen changing it every 2 days .... should i leave them longer 😂... id appreciate your thoughts.
If I plan on putting my piggies’ hay in a hanging sack that has openings for them to eat from, should I put a litter box in their cage also? How do they know to go in the litter box? I am so so new and want to have as much knowledge before I get my pigs!
So we’re using an open hay/litter tray for our new babies. Thing is we don’t take the newspaper here. Could I order newsprint paper from Amazon and it be safe to line the tray with?
Thank you! Yes, the hammocks are £45 for the square style or £50 for the curved style. Postage to Australia is from £23. Drop me a message on Etsy if you're interested ☺️
Lovely video, as always. 😊 I love seeing your pigs enjoying their cage, especially after a clean! I do have a question though - would a non-waterproof liner (fleece on both sides) work in the same way and last as long, or would you need to change it out more regularly? Thank you, just wondering as I'm going to attempt to sew something for the pigs!
Thank you! And a non-waterproof would work, but you'd still need an absorbent layer underneath (so the pee wicks through the fleece and is absorbed by a cotton based or towelling material). Something not too heavy so it still washes fine, like thin terry towelling works well :)
Sorry, very mundane question but do you have a routine with your pillow cases after washing? Presumably they need cleaning every so often due to accumulation of debris from the fleeces etc?
Squeak dreams can you please give me a number one tip on how to take my guinea pigs every time I try to stroke them they run away and I’ve had them for two months.
Two months isn't that long in terms of taming piggies, if you are following tips in my other videos like hand feeding in the cage, leading up to strokes and laptime they will get there eventually! 😊my number one tip would be food though - hand feeding wherever possible!
Hmm, did you see my video about peaflakes? It could be that they realise they might be upsetting their tummy - or it could be some sort of health problem which affects their tastes (hormonal maybe like in my Pedro - he always changed with how keen he was on peaflakes, but doesn't get them anymore).
Question: Is it safe fore the guinea-pigs to clean with alcohol (45 vol.% 2-propanol) on tissue-paper? (It disinfects, it resolves dirt a bit bettre then just water (not quite as good as washing-up liquid) and it "dryes" (evaporates) much faster than water. I use this a lot for "human house" cleaning. It's a habit from having spent time in hospital, where most cleaning (accept floors) is done this way. I like it and don't want to get rid of it. Especially since alcohol is quite biodegradable...
Thank you! I've useed strong vinager for "human housecleaning" a few times. It's very efficient for both getting rid of smells and of lime scales in bathrooms and washing machines, but I hadn't thought of this use for vinager. Thank you!
I do buy a lot and a lot does go to waste, but I think they have still picked through it and foraged all their favourite bits out. I get a bag of 6kg meadow hay every 6 weeks or so, and on top of that we'll usually get through half a 5 kg box of timothy blend hay from Haybox, eek!
Question do you have any tips on getting scared piggies to eat? Lois the guinea pig I rescued still isn't eating veggies I'm not too worried because she eats hay and drinks water like crazy but she won't touch veggies and I wasnt concerned the first 3 days because when I got my Phoebe she did that but I've had Lois for 5 days now please if you have any tips can you tell me them she won't even eat fruits I give.
Have you checked her front teeth. My piggy has broken hers and can eat hay and pellets but can't chomp on veg unless I cut it up in small bite size pieces. LA guinea pig YT channel has some good videos on how to hold the piggy to check their teeth
My two girl piggies absolutely love Pedro! They got pretty sad when they found out pedro’s bangs were gone, and now they’re mad at Roxy! 😹
Hahaha, the scandal and love triangles of the guinea pig world!
I got my own three guinea pigs just after this video was taken

Which hay do you get from Hay Box? The coarse cut looks a bit too pokey so I'm thinking the blended would be a good option?

How do you get your piggies to stay in the hay box? Mine would have made a break for it within 10 seconds lol.

Hey Sarah! Where did you get these little wooden tables for the piggies? I have searched on Amazon but I couldn't find any of them :(
Hello I’m getting piggies soon and have been trying to research pellets but not sure which to get in UK any suggestions please? Thank you

Really like your videos! Thank you! One question, if you don't mind: what are the measurements (especially the height) for the hammock stand?
They are about 21cm high ☺️
@@SqueakDreams Thanks! 😃
Sorry, very mundane question but do you have a routine with your pillow cases after washing? Presumably they need cleaning every so often due to accumulation of debris from the fleeces etc?
Did you forget to link the disinfectant or am I blind?
Great helpful video as always, thanks! And obviously your piggies are as cute as ever! XD
Ah it's in my amazon storefront links - if you head to the storefront it is under the "Guinea pig basics" section :)
@@SqueakDreams Ah, gotcha. Thank you! Obviously my brain decided not to work for a moment there.
How long does it take to you to clean it, everyday?
Where do you get your beds from?? I cant find any good ones for my piggies
Is there any Etsy shops u recommend? Trying to support small businesses when buying things for my piggies instead of pet stores ❤
Squeak dreams can you please give me a number one tip on how to take my guinea pigs every time I try to stroke them they run away and I’ve had them for two months.

Hi Sarah! I want to know why some piggies eat pea flakes a lot but after a while they don’t want to eat it and eat pellets like treats instead?
Hmm, did you see my video about peaflakes? It could be that they realise they might be upsetting their tummy - or it could be some sort of health problem which affects their tastes (hormonal maybe like in my Pedro - he always changed with how keen he was on peaflakes, but doesn't get them anymore).
After couple days is it stink?
Do you ship to the US?
hey! i'd like to ask how to use fleece. i dont know if my guinea pigs are going to chew them could u make a video about it? Please:)
Yes I will do, fleece is a great bedding for guinea pigs! ☺️
@@SqueakDreams Thank you!
I got this notification 30 minutes ago. Why couldn’t they have told me 6 days ago when she uploaded🙄
If your cage had grids how long would it be (2x5, 2x8, etc)
I think it would be a little bit wider than a 2 X 6 🙂
@@SqueakDreams Oh okay! Thanks!
Oh no Pedro is being eaten àlive by Roxy and attacked by fleece 😉❤
Haha yes, poor Pedro!
Wow...first one here! I love your channel 💗
Thanks Amy! 😃
what measurements are your cage? :D
It is 2 m by 70 cm, which is roughly equivalent to a 2 by 6 :)
@@SqueakDreams thanks! btw do you think a 2ftx4ft is ok for two girls?

In theory I think this would be okay yes - if used in hospitals etc, and as long as in a well ventilated room 😊
A lot of people use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, which makes a great cleaner and is safe for pets.

Have you tried cucumber and lettuce? It could be she's never seen veggies 😔 but she will get the hang of it especially when Phoebe is chomping away!
I give romaine celery, cucumber, carrot, and bellpepper
Also Phoebe is a food hog you crazy she won't share she'll steal
Oh and sometimes I give green and red leaf
