Guinea pigs have been my dream pet since 10. I’m almost 14 and my it’s went from a NO WAY! To “ I think Guinea pigs are cute and me and ur dad will discuss this. I even got a PowerPoint for them and I somehow got them to watch it and they were impressed. I think they now understand how much I care as it’s almost been 4 years 😊

I finally got to watch this and I love it! Marshmallow at the end was so adorable. All your babies are! It was totally worth taking your time, your piggies are living the high life!
As for the space, maybe consider turning your desk around so you can see your babies or add a comfy chair and ottoman for reading and chilling during little breaks, so you have different seating choices in your day. Stay away from anything boucle…I know from experience that hay sticks permanently. 😂

i currently have strep and watching this was so relaxing! i’ve actually never seen guinea pigs in real life, but the other day we went to the pet store to see some (i’m not going to actually adopt from a pet store if i actually am allowed to get a pair) and they’re bigger than i thought! i love your cage setup so much!

My suggestion for the middle of the room would be a small area rug and two arm chairs so you can sit and watch them or read or hold them!

Use the leftover grids to make play pens for them for floor time
They're expensive af, buy you should buy the acrylic kavee grids for part of their cage, you're going to be obsessed with the views! I just got some myself.

You could try and bond boba and pumpkin with the herd of 4 and then you could have a herd of 6 ❤
The reason I split up the herd in the first place, was because those girls don’t do well with other girls. Boba is very similar to Sage and I’m sure they would have the same issues in the larger herd

Great room! You need a lounge chair and maybe a table for health checks. I would put the storage shelves in the closet to create space for decor, an area rug and maybe some large tropical floor plants ( keep plants artificial so the piggies are not harmed from toxins ) your tattoo is so cute! My goodness, you've done great job on your room, they look happy! If I could add though, there's something I noticed that I wasn't able to see. I recently became aware of this with my own Piggy Room (and home in general,) it needs at least a good sized fire extinguisher (5lb, ABC) and a smoke alarm in that room. I know it doesn't sound very Piggish but I recently found out fire startups can often startup and reach critical in under two minutes, yikes! In case something like that happened I don't know how I'd be able to get my five Piggys out in time. As far as I can figure, it's best to be prepared for this kind of thing for our Piggys and hope we never have to use it!

my computer is still in the room I didn’t move it out. I mostly use it for work and editing and I have headphones so the noise doesn’t impact them

heyy, did you ever consider finding a mate for waffles? I also had a senior male guinea pig who lived alone for quite some time, but in retrospect that was really unhealthy for him. i managed to find him a friend and his behaviour now is not comparable to when he was alone. you can tell that he feels way happier and much more safe. guinea pigs aren't meant to live alone and i feel like that is often overlooked with older male guinea pigs, because it can be hard to bond them.
how old is waffles? could you still neuter him? or maybe you find a submissive male for him?
She has tried to bond him before without success and he is too old to get neutered.
@@songsforanna I just think it is a shame that a lot of older male guinea pigs have to live alone. yes, it is more difficult to bond them, especially if they can't be neutered anymore, but they often get lonely on their own. imagine if you had to live in one room on your own for the rest of your life. that would be quite depressing, even if you could hear other people. most guinea pigs suffer under those circumstances. not just mentally, their physical health can suffer as well (e.g. them not moving enough). i think we as loving pigparents tend to turn a blind eye when it comes to that, because we adore oug animals and don't want them to suffer. I completely understand that, but it would be great if we could be honest about situations like this and try to change them even if it's hard. and I mean that as a whole community, I am not trying to critizise one person here. I have been down the same path and this is a general problem. I just wanted to spread some awareness.
@@lilooffhaus7653 Autum got Waffles as a female from a rescue situation - she never ment to get a male. But since she discovered he was male she really tried to bond him and got new pigs just for that sake. So she has been bonding him several times and i think there is a limit where you just can't get more and more animals. But every pet owner has to decide what is best for their pet depending on their healt, personality and special circumstances. I am sure that Autumn is doing what she can for Waffles - she really loves her animals and gives them excellent top notch care! She knows her pig the best. It is good that you want to spread general awareness. You don't have to convince me on that more people should try to bond their older males - and I think these animals should have a friend whenever it is possible! 🙂But just because it is best for guinea pigs (and rabbits) in general to have a friend, it does not mean it is best for every specific individual. I myself have a single rabbit - she has not worked out with any other rabbit so far and she has also been hurt by other rabbits. She only hides when she is with others and is getting bullied (even if all are neutered). I have talked to many experienced rabbit people and together we´ve come to the conclusion that it is best for her with her own space, with my other rabbits within sight. In my country it is btw illegal to have a single guinea pig! But there is one exception - older males that have been proven to be very hard to bond.
Hey! I completely understand the point you’re getting at. I think it would be really great if neutering was more affordable and less risky so we could get more males female friends. Sadly waffles is six so the surgery would be quite risky at his age. I’ve tried him with two other males - the other two I have. I had adopted them for him, then when they failed I neutered them and bonded with females. At this point I’m not sure what a solution would be because I don’t want to continue owning intact males or have any male pairs
@@autumngrace. Yes, I completely understand. Maybe this is also a country difference. I am from Germany and I also thought that my male (he was six) was too old to get neutered, but my vet assured me that it was possible, because he was healthy otherwise. He handled it very well. Also here, it is kind of a standard procedure for most male guinea pigs to get neutered. When he was still alone, I talked to multiple rescues what they would suggest and besides getting him neutered and bonding him with females, they suggested trying really young males who are not as dominant yet. The only problem with that is that they will go into puberty at some point and conflict can very well arise. Also the age difference would be huge and maybe they would be too energetic for him. But maybe you could work with a rescue and try a few baby males. Of course, you know what is best for your pets and you seem like a great guinea pig owner. I love how you interact with your pets. It was just one solution that i considered at that time that came to mind.
