I saw a post where someone's guinea pigs were laying on top of probably about a hundred pieces of dried poop. I told them it wasn't good for their health and the internet attacked ME because I hurt the owners feelings by saying cleaning is important? Then they said people only clean for photos. No? We spot clean everyday because we care about our pets health. I cannot with the internet.

@Trinity M I am judging this by THIS not on the comments of rude people. Pointing out that something is unhealthy for an animal isn't rude in any way. This particular thing should be common sense anyway.
Totally. My piggies are my babies. I wouldn't leave a baby in a dirty diaper and I would never leave my piggies sitting in their own poops. It's just common sense.
I just got my first Guinea pigs two days ago (well officially they are for the kids, but they are mine ❤️😂) and your videos have taught me so so much. I got them from the previous owners (allergy 😭) and got the equipment with them, so I used what I was given. Then I noticed one of them sneezing after changing their sawdust bedding. It made me worried, then I saw your bedding video, and today I sowed them some waterproof fleece bedding from ikea pee sheets, mattress covers and fleece, by using your tutorial, and they seem so happy! No sneezing either! So thank you! 🤩

I really love that you talk about why cleaning is so important and that it should be done more frequently. It bothers me seeing TH-camrs skipping spot cleaning and stating it's totally fine - while their cages are a total mess. I really dislike a messy and dirty enclosure (like I dislike a messy and dirty house/apartment) and I have to clean it (like you) at least 3 times a day - once in the morning, once after work or university, and once before going to bed. I just can't focus on work, studying, relaxing or going to sleep in my clean bed without knowing that my boys are sleeping in a clean enclosure, with clean beds and pee-pads as well. No matter how tired, exhausted or sick I am, I don't allow myself to rest until I took care of my babies.

Great video young lady. Nice job. I'm 65 and I gotta tell ya, Guinea Pigs are the best pet one can have. They really are close to perfect. They're not really a lot of work. Just routine. I dearly love mine. On a side note, I think one of the better cages is a playpen. Yeah, one for kids. Big enough for a small herd. They're built up off the floor, non- toxic, safe, pretty much pee proof, easy to clean. Just the right height if ya have other animals or little kids. They can fold up if ya want. And short of them chewing a hole in it. ( not too likely), too escape. Worry free.
I totally agree with everything you said but one. Grass is the next best thing to hay for your pigs. Grass is their natural food (not pellets as some people think) and hay is just dried grass so please dont deny your pigs they natural diet.
All your piggies are so cute!🥰 And all your videos are so informative! I've been researching for a year on guinea pigs to convince my parents to let me have some, and that whole year I used your channel to help me!
We measure out the pellets and put them into a treat ball. Our vet recommended this to keep our girls moving about instead of sitting in front of a bowl. They seem to really enjoy pushing the ball around, even when there aren't pellets in it.
I vacuum out the poos at least 4 times a.day. I have found it therapeutic for me,.kind of like a stress reliever, to hear the plinking of the poos going up the vacuum cleaner nozzle attachment. I know it sounds weird. 😦
Excellent video....I do all of this every day. Maintenance all day and I can't believe one of our little girls still got a UTI. Please listen to this advice!
Have you thought about recycling the guinea pig poo and using it as fertiliser for flowers and plants, put some poo in a pot with potting mix, add the seeds, keep topping it up with poo as the plants grow.
I thought it was so crazy that people only spot clean once a day!!! I do three times, usually four times at least!!! Maybe I'm a bit obsessive about the cleanliness of the cage, but it's only because I want my babies to sprawl out and popcorn around a clean cage! Not a dirty cage and dodging poops!! I am very scared to cut my babies nails for the first time, but I'll have to do it because I can't afford the vet right this second! I will take them, but I have to get another paycheck first! They are otherwise healthy but I think I can try to cut their nails myself!
I have to say, I'm very disciplined in my piggy care in terms of cleaning! Every day, in the late morning or early afternoon, I do a once over spot clean, plus changing out wet pads where necessary. In the later evening, since I work overnite 4 nights a week, everything gets checked and changed if necessary, especially the huge coroplast hay area I have in both enclosures, filled with aspen and kiln dried pine. At least half, if not 3 quarters of the litter gets scooped out, sprayed down with cleaner, and fresh litter. Fresh hay 2 or 3 times a day, plus treat hay at least once a day. I'm always over my piggies enclosures, also because I work from home, and my piggies are all seniors now, my oldest girl is 5 and a half, and goes once a month to my exotic vet for hormone shots because of ovarian cysts. Meds twice a day for her, and forages and all types of nutritious treats! I LOVE them SO much, I give mine bum baths and cream their feet with Gorgeous Guineas products, they're wonderful! Sarah, do you have hammocks and stands in again?! I forgot about it, but don't know if they're in your Etsy shop, or Facebook, or where I can buy them from! Great video, how PRECIOUS that Pedro is, beautiful boy, I'm SO happy he got you as his owner, lol!
I have an 8 yr old guinea pig who acts like a young piggy. His name is gus. Took him to the vet who said he's really healthy for his age. My first guinea pig and I've only had him for a yr. I'm the 3rd owner and last. He loves to play with a cat toy it's a ball with bell in the middle of the night. But he loves to cuddle. 🥰
I'm glad you mentioned hay, it's so important, our piggies are free range, they have a cage but hop in and out of it and have the run of the office 😅 they are very clean and poop on a bath mat and litter tray, they also have their own hay tray to jump in and out of which i shake out daily and top up 3 times a day. They are such lovely companions I never see looking after them as a chore 🥰
How long should they be out on the grass for? I have been leaving them out for a few hours at times over the summer (not when it’s very hot!) thanks ☺️
When I had piggies I used megazorb for the litter box it's like carefresh but designed for horses, still dust free hypoallergenic air treated paper, very absorbent but as it is in bulk much cheaper than carefresh, put news paper down then a good thick layer of magazorb then fresh hay, the good thing about magazorb it clumps together so you can see if there is a wet patch so in-between full cleans grab some latex gloves pull out the used bedding and replace with fresh cosy new bedding they loved it so much I had to start putting some where they liked to sleep as they loved snuggling down in it. Available in 85 litre sacks, you can now get it delivered from Amazon, but Iised to drive to my local horse equipment supplier and pick up 5 or 6 85l bags at a time (only about £6 a bag back then, now around £15) and store in the garage, I got to know them well and they all thought I was a madman getting this horse bedding for my piggies.
I was able to litter train my guinea pigs. They both naturally did it luckily. It makes keeping up with the cleaning way easier. I get special dust free litter for them though so they are not inhaling it.
Absolutely-so important to clean your piggies house every day! Mine are in an outside cosy hutch and I'm out there every night-wind, rain, snow, shine-whatever! They are my babies and I want them to be happy and healthy! PLENTY of good quality hay too!
I do it in my kitxhen sink. I fill it so it covers half my piggie and do it the same temperature you would have a bath. Then i add just some average anti dandruff shampoo, although yoi can get guinea pig shampoo, and i mix it round and just wash my piggie. Then drain the water and rinse them off with the tap. Personally i dont blow dry them i use a towel then put a hot water bottle under a blanket in winter. Hope this helps!
There's nothing more satisfying than watching your Furry Family in a clean cage, and clean dishes and bottles! I wouldn't eat off dirty plates etc, or sleep in dirty bedding (ewww!) Oh, and I only pour boiling water in my dishes, NO washing up liquid or dishwasher washing, ever. I have multiple bowls and bottles to alternate (and just in case I do break any!) I hate it when some people say it's easy keeping small animals! Grrr!! They obviously don't have a clue just what goes into keeping them happy and healthy! 🐹😍
Your videos have been so helpful for me, I was given two piggies from a family who said they just didn't have the time for them. I was wondering what's the best place to get stuff for your piggies when you have to be on a budget?
I use meadow hay and all the time it falls out of the hay rack and onto the floor. We’ve tried using a litter tray under the hay rack but they just wee in it then don't eat it. What would you suggest?
I love your channel!!!!!! I have a hard time doing my guinea pigs (Oreo's) nails his friend(teddy) doesn't need one yet, but Oroe doesn't let me do it, I have to do one a day.
I pick up little sausages nearly every time I walk past the guinea pig room. It is a full time job to keep them clean. It's better than force feeding them medicine every day.
Hi here is my story with my two piggies so me and my brother Took care of my brothers class pet. Two Guinea pigs brownie, tsunami. Then I fell in love with Guinea pigs and wanted two of my own. I did all the research and squeak dreams was the main Channel I watched. Thank you for all the videos you make they are always so helpful. Then I made a slid show to present to my parents to convince them and they said yes! Then me and my brother had to earn 50 dollars for Guinea pig supplies. So we had a lemonade stand and we earned 50 dollars in three days! Then we ordered all the supplies and once it all came we went to a local rescue and got two Guinea pigs gingerbread, pumpkin, but our story isn’t over… A week later we found out that gingerbread was a boy…yeah! So that happened. Then we had to give them back to the rescue because my parents did not want baby Guinea pigs so we didn’t have Guinea pigs for two weeks. And I really wanted my Guinea pig back I had a special Bond with her so we kept going to the rescue to check if they found out if she was pregnant which she probably was. Until one time we went and they gave us two choices to Foster her and her baby’s or foster her until she has the baby’s and then give Her and her baby’s back to the rescue and wait a month to adopt her. And we chose the second choice. But if I am lucky my parents will let me foster the baby’s! PS your piggies are adorable!
I was doing good till the water, then I paused and went and changed out my guinea pigs water; I think because i have bottles that fill from the top I didn't think about it that much but I will definitely work to be better about it
I clean every day. I make sure to vacuum and take everything out clean and place everything back in. I also wash their bedding every week. I have two boars and they make a lot of mess. 😂 one of them literally loves to knock things down
how do you get a piggie to use a litter tray? is a natural thing do they already know or do I have to train her to? so many questions lol. she is 2 months old according to the pet store I got her from (awful source, regret not going to a shelter to find a rescue)
I just discovered you all and I'm fascinated. I'm interested in the wire cage that you have set up in your home that's open on the top I wonder how tall they should be and where you find this I haven't seen them in a pet store. Anyway I just need enough with the wiring to have for two piggies. His name is snow baby. The local pet store had no long-hair piggies. Can they be ordered? ❤ Veronica Schoen

Hey! I have a question for you. I recently got a Guinea pig, and she’s around five years old. She’s lived alone for most of her life, so I’m not sure if I should get another to keep her company because I think it might cause her more stress than anything. I’d love to get some advice from you. 💕 Thanks.
I think the chance of your piggy getting piggy friend is worth the risk! Just remember it may take a few tries to find a pig your pig likes, and maybe it will never work out. My guinea pigs grew up together so I’ve never dealt with that kind of thing, so don’t take whatever I say for fact.
@@biryanilover7147 probably a rescue from a friend or a person online. Rescues don’t normally give single piggies away, so that’s why I’m guessing it’s from a friend or something. The past owner(s) probably didn’t look after it properly.
Thank you for making these videos!! I was just given 2 boys and 1 girl a friend said she couldn’t keep them and so I took them in and I honestly took more than what I knew,..I keep the boys and girl separate sides of the cage it’s about 5ft long but in half it’s 2.5 ft each side and after watching this video I feel like I should make more space and I have definitely failed a few of the things you mentioned,..but I’ll definitely work on them,..but do you have any advice on getting the boys to be around the girl without fighting each other? I’d love to remove the wall between them
My biggest struggle is getting into a new routine, one of our piggies came to us pregnant now we have 5. The girls pen is actually easy to clean because it's bigger you can easily sweep and change over mats. Sour boys pen I find harder with it being so small, it's just so awkward, although he's much cleaner than the girls
i got all 3 of my piggies back to back as they were given to me. they are finally getting used to me. still tho not enough to be able to trim their nails or cut hair. thankfully they don't have very long hair. btw my piggies are sure to let me know when i need to clean their cage lol they start throwing stuff around and rattling their cages x-D
My last guinea pigs managed to eat some leaves off bean plants. I didn't realise any part of the bean plant is poisonous to them and unfortunately I lost 3 of them 😢
Hi, I have two male pigs that i've owned for about 6 months now. And one of them just keep chasing the other pig around and doesn't let him inside any of the houses. And I find it weird because they lived in the same cage even before i bought them. And he never chased him before, he just started doing it two weaks ago. What should i do??

I vacuum out the poos at least 4 times a.day. I have found it therapeutic for me,.kind of like a stress reliever, to hear the plinking of the poos going up the vacuum cleaner nozzle attachment. I know it sounds weird. 😦
Nope. It sounds satisfying! :D
Thank you for sharing
Excellent video....I do all of this every day.
Maintenance all day and I can't believe one of our little girls still got a UTI.
Please listen to this advice!
10:22 that little bean slipping out 😂
Have you thought about recycling the guinea pig poo and using it as fertiliser for flowers and plants, put some poo in a pot with potting mix, add the seeds, keep topping it up with poo as the plants grow.
Thats what I do. I grew some lettuce using the piggies poop then they ate the lettuce a few weeks after lol
Think we have all been guilty of one of these things at sometime or other. Thanks for a great video
I did pick up some good tips. Thanks!
Thanks again, Sarah. 💖
How long should they be out on the grass for? I have been leaving them out for a few hours at times over the summer (not when it’s very hot!) thanks ☺️
Thank you for providing us helpful information about guinea pig
Thanks
Thank you so much for creating this video 💓 You’re the best.
what adorable pigs
I was able to litter train my guinea pigs. They both naturally did it luckily. It makes keeping up with the cleaning way easier. I get special dust free litter for them though so they are not inhaling it.
Me too!😊
Because I have a smaller cage I definitely clean the cage every single day. Swap out liners, and clean.
This was very helpful thanks! I probably could improve on a lot of these! 👍😊
Absolutely-so important to clean your piggies house every day! Mine are in an outside cosy hutch and I'm out there every night-wind, rain, snow, shine-whatever! They are my babies and I want them to be happy and healthy! PLENTY of good quality hay too!
thank you sarah!!
Your Piggies are so cute!
Do you have a video on how to bath piggies? Do you know which shampoo would be best?
I do it in my kitxhen sink. I fill it so it covers half my piggie and do it the same temperature you would have a bath. Then i add just some average anti dandruff shampoo, although yoi can get guinea pig shampoo, and i mix it round and just wash my piggie. Then drain the water and rinse them off with the tap. Personally i dont blow dry them i use a towel then put a hot water bottle under a blanket in winter. Hope this helps!
There's nothing more satisfying than watching your Furry Family in a clean cage, and clean dishes and bottles!
I wouldn't eat off dirty plates etc, or sleep in dirty bedding (ewww!)
Oh, and I only pour boiling water in my dishes, NO washing up liquid or dishwasher washing, ever. I have multiple bowls and bottles to alternate (and just in case I do break any!) I hate it when some people say it's easy keeping small animals! Grrr!! They obviously don't have a clue just what goes into keeping them happy and healthy! 🐹😍
Your videos are awesome I Have never done any of those bad habits but I’ll keep watch to make sure I don’t in the future thank you.
Phoebe is the cutest ☺❤
Your videos have been so helpful for me, I was given two piggies from a family who said they just didn't have the time for them. I was wondering what's the best place to get stuff for your piggies when you have to be on a budget?
I use meadow hay and all the time it falls out of the hay rack and onto the floor. We’ve tried using a litter tray under the hay rack but they just wee in it then don't eat it. What would you suggest?
Even though this video is for Guinea pigs. Watching this reminds me of cleaning my hamsters cage and water bottle
your vids are AWESOME
Until one time we went and they gave us two choices to Foster her and her baby’s or foster her until she has the baby’s and then give
Her and her baby’s back to the rescue and wait a month to adopt her. And we chose the second choice. But if I am lucky my parents will let me foster the baby’s! PS your piggies are adorable!
Omg what!!! You see this why I follow you thank you,
I was doing good till the water, then I paused and went and changed out my guinea pigs water; I think because i have bottles that fill from the top I didn't think about it that much but I will definitely work to be better about it
This video is so helpful for pet parents or soon to be! Please say hi to your little ones for us 😊😊🧡🧡
Thank you dor the helpful video 🙂
I clean every day. I make sure to vacuum and take everything out clean and place everything back in.
I also wash their bedding every week. I have two boars and they make a lot of mess. 😂 one of them literally loves to knock things down
Next year my mum said I can get two or three guinea pigs I can't wait❤❤❤❤
Litter bin? Litter box? Potty spot? What?!?!?!!!!! Off to search the net. 🥰
I don’t use hay racks but I do have a hay bag in each of their (sows, boars). Are those ok? I also have a “kitchen area with hay
I've heard that hay bags are ok (I use one for my 2 female guinea pigs) so I think it's ok
Oh I'm an obsessive cage and poop cleaner. I think at times they get annoyed with me for all the poop cleaning. 😆
Hahaha! I can definitely relate!!
Where is the best place to get hay? I am in the US. They eat a TONNE. 😂
Is the hay in the litter tray the hay they eat or are there two separate spots
how do you get a piggie to use a litter tray? is a natural thing do they already know or do I have to train her to? so many questions lol. she is 2 months old according to the pet store I got her from (awful source, regret not going to a shelter to find a rescue)
I have one pig and her name is kiwi she is a long haired she has a 2x3 attach to it is a 1x2 so I think it’s good and she os happy ik she needs a friend and I’m working on that but for now I give her lots of fun and company to make her happy she is spoiled baby she is 6 moths old and I really like your chanel
And she looks like your gray and white long haired
Where did you get your mats from in the cage?
In one video you had mentioned about Crystal's in the urine, but I have forgotten about what I should do. Please could you remind me. Thank you for all your great advice🥰
I've had hay from haybox once, its the best there is! Unfortunately they don't send to the Netherlands anymore, even though the website says it does 😔😔
How can I top up their hay hay if my piggies live at my workplace? Tips if u have any pls.
I have a question has your guinea pig ever bite you?
Hey! I have a question for you. I recently got a Guinea pig, and she’s around five years old. She’s lived alone for most of her life, so I’m not sure if I should get another to keep her company because I think it might cause her more stress than anything. I’d love to get some advice from you. 💕
Thanks.
Why was she alone in the first place?
I think the chance of your piggy getting piggy friend is worth the risk! Just remember it may take a few tries to find a pig your pig likes, and maybe it will never work out.
My guinea pigs grew up together so I’ve never dealt with that kind of thing, so don’t take whatever I say for fact.
@@biryanilover7147 probably a rescue from a friend or a person online. Rescues don’t normally give single piggies away, so that’s why I’m guessing it’s from a friend or something. The past owner(s) probably didn’t look after it properly.
Hi I don’t know if you’ve talked about this in any of your videos before but I was wondering what you think about two-story cages.
I’d love to remove the wall between them
If the boys aren't neutered they will fight.
Are the boys neutered?
Maybe to the point of serious injury or death.
Your Lunnun hay always looks so nice and green. I’ve bought twice from them and the quality of the bags I got were so bad.
Hello! Just a question, how do you train them to use the litter tray?
Most guinea pigs poop where they eat so mostly just give it time٫ but squeak dreams did a video on how❤❤
My biggest struggle is getting into a new routine, one of our piggies came to us pregnant now we have 5. The girls pen is actually easy to clean because it's bigger you can easily sweep and change over mats. Sour boys pen I find harder with it being so small, it's just so awkward, although he's much cleaner than the girls
love this video
Is it okay if I clean the Guinea pigs cage only once or twice a day?? (Not Deep clean) also do you deep clean every 1 or 2 times a week?
i got all 3 of my piggies back to back as they were given to me. they are finally getting used to me. still tho not enough to be able to trim their nails or cut hair. thankfully they don't have very long hair. btw my piggies are sure to let me know when i need to clean their cage lol they start throwing stuff around and rattling their cages x-D
Around here only sells chaff cause 'uncut hay can damage their eyes'... I don't reckon they like it as much though.
I clean my 2 boys out every day. I've not had them long but it seems like a necessity. I don't mind atall.
My last guinea pigs managed to eat some leaves off bean plants. I didn't realise any part of the bean plant is poisonous to them and unfortunately I lost 3 of them 😢
How often should i bathe my guinea pigs??
what kind of hay do you use?
Hi, I have two male pigs that i've owned for about 6 months now.
And one of them just keep chasing the other pig around and doesn't let him inside any of the houses. And I find it weird because they lived in the same cage even before i bought them. And he never chased him before, he just started doing it two weaks ago. What should i do??
New piggie owner here…did I see your litter box is where you put the hay ? Is that so they go there to pee and poo? But wouldn’t that be very bad for their food?
