  • One of the greatest Popes, Innocent III, died and appeared to Saint Lutgarda in flames and told her that he was expiating three faults that he had to make atonement for. Innocent III was considered one of the most holy popes in the middle ages. Saint Lutgarda and her sisters prayed for him to relieve his purgatory time. At Fatima, the Blessed Mother told the children that a girl from their village was saved, but had to stay in purgatory until the end of the world. Purgatory is the place where the members of the church suffering live. All souls in purgatory are saved, but they have to make amends for their sins on earth. There are two pains in purgatory. The delay of the beatific vision and the pain of sense. There are 3 reasons for souls in purgatory. They are making amends for sins, both mortal and venial, they died for venial sins that have not been forgiven and people have the remains of sin on their soul. We must pray for those in purgatory, as well as obtaining indulgences that we can offer up for the pour souls in purgatory. For more please go to www.veritascaritas.com/ & remember to say 3 Hail Marys for the priest

      There is no purgatory according to the God of the Bible, only according to mortal men. So fear not, listen to God and be saved through the blood of Jesus Christ! He paid for our sin on te cross and no action of any human can undo that, no suffering of man can achieve that. If you find yourself burning, there will be no release, because it is hell eternal.

    Since the smallest pain in purgatory is equal to the greatest pain on Earth,this means it's hotter in purgatory than on Earth.I desire to pay here with sacrifices,good work of reparation, and fasting God help me with the grace to accept my crosses, think of others more than myself.

      nangonzi, God bless you. you sound like you are on the right path. we are all in the same situation. it is very difficult at times to resign ourselves to God's holy, ordaining and permitting will in our lives. but with God's grace and mercy, we can struggle and carry our crosses more patiently. it has been said that God doesn't give us more than we can handle. that from all time, he has looked upon us, considered our unique circumstances, and has permitted things to happen. but he has entrusted to us the reliance upon Him, and to keep Jesus Christ as our center and foundation. sorry, I can't describe it the way I should be able to. God bless you. Kathy.

      Sure God is a fool and you can easily lie to him. Roman's 6 says if continue to sin then your a slave. Rapists will inherit the kingdom of God it says nowhere but people should repent and believe the Gospel. Galatians 1 says if anyone believes another Gospel but Christ crucified, be the preacher an angel or even another Apostle then that one is accursed. Jesus paid the penalty for all sin on the cross. Purgatory is a pathetic attempt to say we must pay the price for sin.

      I am going to chime into this argument to express the frustration I have veeerrrryyyy slowly been having with Protestantism over the last few years:- HUBRIS.
      I too used to think Purgatory was a "payment of sins" to get into heaven. WRONG. You need to understand what Catholics are actually saying before making rash and harsh judgements!! Keep in mind I was born, baptised and essentially raised Catholic....so keep that in mind. Nonetheless, I have never really been a practicing Catholic my entire adult life.
      That being said, I have been looking up/studying the doctrine of Purgatory the last few days, and here is the understanding I have had so far:- IT IS SAVED PPLE THAT ARE IN PURGATORY.
      Hence, going to hell was NEVER an option for them.
      For all intents and purposes, the "poor souls" in Purgatory did not go through a Sanctification process with God while on earth.....and we all know Sanctification usually entails SUFFERING.
      Look at it this way:- a SAVED pedophile who never actually surrendered his impulses to Christ and carry his cross will likely end up in Purgatory! There is more to it, I am still learning and willing for God to show me that this doctrine is completely false, but for now, I am leaning very heavily toward Purgatory existing....

    • @paulroche5670
      @paulroche5670 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thekingslady1 Yes it states that the only the saved are in purgatory. The unsaved are in hell. There are two views of purgatory. One is that the soul has to pay for their sins. The other view is sanctification. The first view is totally erroneous. Jesus paid for all sins on the cross of Calvary. The second view begs the question of sanctification.

    Thank you for your excellent discussion on Purgatory, Father. How wrong it is that the Dogma of Purgatory is practically dismissed today, with the false notion that everyone goes straight to Heaven. It is likely that very few Catholics pray earnestly for their relatives and friends who may be detained in Purgatory for an extended amount of time. Also, how true it is that we need to strive for a virtuous life, the trend is to live a very mediocre existence, with little prayer, no penance, and minimal love of God. We do not take our eternal destiny seriously enough. Like the Saints, we need Zeal. We need to pray for a great increase in the love of God, and a greater abhorrence of sin. 🌲👑

    I want to remain in a state of grace so that I may gain merit on behalf of the Holy Souls. I want to for my own sake, too, but by making the Heroic Act (in which I offer, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, all the merits I gain, for Our Blessed Mother to dispense to the Poor Souls and a particular priest according to her wisdom and good pleasure), it adds further incentive, because I feel like I let them down if I don't remain in grace so as to ease and shorten their suffering, and I know they're praying for me. He was in pain. The last year was an old woman dressed in black starring at me very sad with a painful face, leaning against the wall

    Father I have a question if you don’t mind. Let say if the end of the world happens now or in the coming years from now and all of us die. Is it right to say that purgatory won’t be an option for anyone who die on the final days? How bout a person who just repented so all the mortal sins are forgiven but what about the sin of remission? Or who died with only venial sins? Since you mentioned on the final judgment, purgatory ends. I’m really confused Father. Would love to hear your thoughts on this thanks a lot.

    Very good video. Two questions though. I believe the catechism says that only "live" blessings have any spiritual merit. Is it the same with this commutation of the third requirement? I pray the rosary every day, wear the scapular, and was enrolled at my First Holy Communion. Is the commutation valid for who watches the video? I would believe it isn't. Second question - when Father says "Rosary", is he talking about one mystery or all four mysteries? I hope my priest believes the Sabatine Privilege, which I have read is disputed.

    Through my own experiences this is what I went through and was shown.
    hell is the first stage of awakening, the illumination of the soul. going through the dark night of the soul is where you are forced to reflect upon all you shadow aspects, all the deadly sins, when you have made it through each and find yourself at the lowest point, you face what they call lucifer. This is where you have to let go, surrender. It feel like death, like you are going to die, but that is only pride of the egotistical human in you. Surrender is letting go of those ways and giving control back to God. After you've defeat yourself you can start to ascend up out of hell through accepting responsibility for all your choices and actions by allowing yourself to experience the suffering of reaping what you've sown. Then you find yourself In purgatory where repentance of your ways washes you soul, this is where you have to allow Jesus to guide you, walking with him following him. It is possible if the ego and pride gave been completely killed in you and you have completely surrendered to God. That's how you get white robes and life when you have the physical death.

Many are addicted to sugar, salt and fat, elements key in processed foods. Where does it all end? I don't get it.

Can u make a video based on scripture for our Protestant brothers and sisters ? It’s hard enough for us as Catholicos to absorb this let alone those who believe in Sola scriptura . Zed Shaban They first have to give up sola scriptura. You do have to believe that Jesus gave His authority to the apostles and they passed it down through the centuries to the priests they ordained. There’s just too much and we have to accept it in faith. If I demanded to have to understand everything before I would believe then I would be lost. And Jesus says blessed are they who have not seen and yet believe.

    I don’t have any clue how purgatory works anymore cause for some it’s described as a cleansing fire, other simply waiting patiently in a state that isn’t suffering in pain but more in patience. I think in my opinion that perhaps it’s more serious for those out in higher places of power and leadership we all model off of. The clarification of the peaceful suffering must be to our earthly bodies like getting into a hot bath with flesh wounds. It feels relaxing and amazing but the wounds themselves sting as they are cleansed and heal. It’s part of growing up to accept that pain and as we grow up we come to embrace the pain as we know it only gets better.

      In hell for example, people suffer in relation to how they sinned on Earth.
      It works in a similar way in Purgatory. There was one story I heard where a woman saw another person with charcoal black hands that withered away, because she was prideful for being a Eucharistic minister, and did not pay reverence to the Eucharist.
      In Heaven, people will have different ranks or positions dependant on their suffering and virtues on Earth, so Purgatory (I'm assuming) is a little, or a lot different for each person

      I came across a devotion to Jesus King of All Nations nearly 2 years ago, in which (according to a private revelation) one may offer a Novena of Holy Communions in honor of Jesus King of All Nations, on behalf of a living person who cannot receive Communion, and for one other intention - generally for a particular nation. There is a promise that at the end of nine consecutive Holy Communions, received in a state of grace, God the Father will "release" an Angel Guardian for the person, another for the nation, and a third for the communicant. I should state right away that I don't know if the private revelation has received approval from a bishop, specifically regarding the Angels, but certainly an offering of Holy Communion on behalf of a particular person and for a nation is a charitable prayer. One particular person, on whose behalf I offered a Novena of Holy Communions at least twice, has recently died. He was not Catholic, nor any other religion. He was in sore need of conversion, and in great need of the graces of contrition for his sins, repentance, and final penitence. He didn't request a priest on his deathbed, but he did ask to speak to an in-law who is a Baptist pastor, and expressed sorrow for his sins. The in-law made the visit assuming it was by coercion from a family member, but found that it was a sincere request. It turns out the man simply didn't understand religion, theology, or the Bible. On top of it, he had been ostracized by most of the Christians he knew. He knew charitable Christians, but regarded them as exceptions who just happened to have solid characters despite their religion. He never thought he was good enough to be welcomed in a church, and biblical language was far beyond his comprehension. Someone had finally given him a plain English Bible and his wife read from it to him. He began to understand. I hope God the Father did send him the "extra" Guardian Angels -- if so, they no doubt contributed to his blossoming response to grace. Even if that promise isn't legitimate, the simple offering of Holy Communion on his behalf was a powerful prayer for him, and it may have led to his conversion, repentance, and final penitence.

    So help me to understand and some thoughts I have about it. If the brown scapular and the promise to be in heaven on the following Saturday wasn't available to those that died before it, this seems to me that once this came to be that maybe all those gone before us would get the same benifits from it. In the bible according to those who worked in the field one for the whole day, half day, hour all received the same pay. Wouldn't God's mercy work the same way? To think a very religious person, a saint would spend so many years in Purgatory. I'd probably be in the thousands of years if not for the brown scapular. I'm just trying to get my head around all this

    • @brucewmclaughlin9072

      So you trust in a piece of cloth and not in the FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST? Jesus has atoned for every sin a believer will ever do and no believer atones for their own sins. That is scriptural . The brown scapular is a piece of fabric and has no powers or promises attached to it. You find it in the roman Catholic church but you do not find it anywhere in scripture , just like you will not find purgatory anywhere in scripture because the price has been paid in full by Jesus . Read your bible for yourself and follow Jesus only.

    Nice to know Jesus didn't pay for sin I guess when he said " it is finished" he was only referring to his life. After all Jesus said he died for the ransom of many and for our sins. I guess it's not true. Sure you might say purgutory is for purifying that liar Peter whom it is said to be the first Pope said Jesus blood cleanse us from sin. I guess they were all fools because we all have to pay for it. No gospel no good news no redemption or mercy only paying for YOUR DEBT in purgatory. Tradition is over the Word of God after all. Can't trust the bible when it say Jesus died for our sins. NO YOU MUST PAY for your sin in purgatory. Jesus death is of non affect. His blood does not cleanse and purgatory is all our destiny and goal after all. Jesus was only God so what does he know RIGHT.

      You don't have to pay to repair your sins in purgatory If you already did so on earth. You missed the point of the talk

  • @brucewmclaughlin9072
    @brucewmclaughlin9072 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All souls in purgatory are saved, but they have to make amends for their sins on earth.
    However purgatory denies the complete sacrifice on the cross for all the sins any believer will do. You do not find anywhere in scripture that the believer in Christ has to atone for their sins. Coll 2:9-15 tells you that all the punishments for our sins were nailed to the cross by Jesus ! 1 John 2:1,2 tells you that we do sin and Jesus is there for us keeping us righteous before God. There are no poor souls in purgatory as purgatory is a fabricated lie and is not found in contextual scripture.
    Jesus has atoned for all the sins a believer will ever commit and there is no final clean up to do as Jesus has washed you clean as a believer.
