    I absolutely love this stick. Bought it for my on the go Steam deck set up and it is fabulous. Has a nice quality feel to it I have no regrets. I don't think the tension is that bad. I have a full Honeycomb yoke, TPM, pedals and Propwash simulation panels so I'm used to a full set up but this makes flying on the go awesome with the 2 throttles and trim wheel with the STEAM deck. Was on sale too!

      Buying that stick on sale would make it a must buy depending on the discount. If I required Xbox functionality, it would be at the top of my list, especially after getting a little time with the other options recently.

    so glad that companies are really embracing the flight sim on xbox. Whilst I am a PC simmer, I can see the xbox being an "affordable" way to get into simming and opening up to a much larger audience.

      I agree, it is a big deal to bring support to the console platform! When you think of the cost comparison of a console vs a pc, a young simmer, any simmer, can get som much more out of a console when considering price compared to a PC.

      @@ronniepatterson2827 you do realize that a console is just a PC with a nerfed OS?
      If you go onto Steam hardware ownership, you will see most people own potatoes.
      SX runs a Ryzen, probably more powerful than most people's steam machines.
      Consoles are much more refined for gaming than any PC is, as they do 1 thing and do it well.

      Ummm. . . ? I forgot I left that "lmao" lmao. Disregard that reply to NDB AVIATION bragging on gaming consoles as it was all a misunderstanding on my part. Other threads shared by me & the host in this upload should "hopefully" clear things up should you encounter them : ) The fact is, I have never gamed on a PC my entire life and see no reason to, especially seeing how powerful consoles are this generation, not to mention consoles finally getting some decent flightstick support with even more support en route lol. Only time I came remotely close to wanting a PC gaming rig, is when those Macross Plus skins & mods dropped for Ace Combat 7. Other than that? Peasants for the win : D@@dankeplace

      @@ronniepatterson2827 I have both PC and console, I only use PC for content creation, not to brag but the PC is pretty humbling, 64 GB RAM, Ryzen 5900X, 3070Ti, was all done for video editing and music.
      I game entirely on SX but the peripherals are poorly supported, so since I have a decent enough PC, I am going back to sims with proper sticks, not the low level grades we have on console.
      The Velocity One Flight Stick is a bit of a joke imo, it costs the same here as a Gladiator EVO 'Space Combat Edition' standard.
      The difference is, the VKB can be fully adjustable, you don't need fancy OLED screens, you just get proper Japanese action buttons and dry clutches that allow for precision.
      This is why consoles suffer, they lack of proper peripheral support, MS must be charging a large fee to allow devices on their platform, it's saddening but it is what it is.
      Now I still have an original flight stick from the PS1, when I 1st used that I was blown away, but using the FlightOne on the SX for AC7 leaves a lot to be desired when you cannot even remap YAW, same as AC6.
      There is zero point in having a peripheral on a console when you cannot even remap to your won choosing and that's when consoles lose their inherent value.

    Great channel! 'm a MSFS simmer that really likes to match yoke and stick with the aircraft I fly. I am currently using the thrustmaster airbus stick but would love to have a dedicated trim wheel as the trim wheel in my Honeycomb bravo albeit pretty does not work very well, even after using third party software to adjust sensitivity. Two questions: and apologies if you already covered this first one, does the unit alway to switch between left and right hands? And in your professional opinion should I just stick (no pun intended) with my air bus stick? Thanks !

      The Turtle Beach stick could lend well for that purpose since it is stiffer than others. Below is a link for The list of thrustmaster products that work with the xbox. There are a few other options out there but make sure they explicitly state they are compatible with the Xbox.

      I imagine you made your decision, and subsequent purchase, long ago, however, if it helps, as user of the T.16k, I wouldn't purchase again. In terms of your needs for XBox functionality, I can't help you there either.
      I am about to receive my TB V1, so I'm yet to physically use it, however I've watched/read enough reviews to tell you that it's far superior in a few ways. The build quality is certainly better, as the T.16k is one the cheaper side of materials including the chassis and buttons. I found the stick buttons weren't as responsive as desired. I also had quality-control issues when I purchased it, where are three models I had to purchase had issues, one with fundamental hardware/calibration problems, and the others with minor, yet important, hardware issues considering that I'm a lefty.
      Finally, the features of the TB V1 are unique and also far superior in my opinion. The T.16k has an 8-way hat, opposed to a full-range, analog hat. Needless to say, the trackpad and wheel are certainly welcomed as well. I personally use my stick for playing MMOGs, believe it or not, so effective mouse functionality is a must.
      That said, the one thing that I will criticize is the customization. I will have to see exactly what the binding capabilities are, yet from what I've found, the TB V1 will require the use of a mapping app to at least get the results I personally need. The lack of, at least, a basic desktop app, is a glaring omission in my opinion. I don't think it will be a deal breaker, as I've used mapping apps before with good results, but this shouldn't be necessary for an item such as this.

    My main gripe without having ever used a Velocity One is that it's not HOTAS, so you lose the ability to do what you can do on many many other HOTAS sticks.
    Even the FlightOne is HOTAS.
    The other issue is how well the stick actually performs, I have both the TM1600 and the FlightOne, both are good entry level sticks, but the replacement is a Gladiator EVO 'Space Combat Edition' Premium, the reason is that I think MSFS really needs a decent PC to be fluid.
    I have a TSCM for throttle so this partnering will be the best option sub $500 AUD.
    Now the standard Gladiator is the same asking $ here as the Velocity One, which seems bizarre given that the standard comes with different springs, dry clutches plus the ability to upgrade.
    Velocity One seems to have missed the point, to make a good performing stick with no whistles and bells, what they did though was almost the opposite.
    Whilst I cannot comment on the quality of the gimbal, one can only imagine that it isn't of the best quality and would be trounced by the standard edition of the Gladiator EVO, and this is due to same pricing here where I live.
    Ultimately it all comes down to how smooth the stick is, and if i need to change some things, I can, unfortunately the velocity one seems to omit this but give you every other feature?

    • @JoeNDBAVIATION
      @JoeNDBAVIATION  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the VKB products are the way to go for your personal needs. VKB reminds me of Thrustmaster from my early days. They have a lot of options for you to work with and fine tune your sim to your liking.
      The Velocity one is a good stick, but it is potentially limiting vs what you could do with the Gladiator. Especially when you bring up the price points.
      If you are able to change out the springs and fine tune the gladiator, go with that. I've had interchangeable spring products in the past, some have worked and others have not. But, that ability made my siming that much better.
      Interested to hear what you end up going with. I still need to get my hands on some VKB products.

    • @dankeplace
      @dankeplace ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeNDBAVIATION I'll post this again as it appears to be hidden.
      I actually ordered the VKB yesterday and then almost cancelled the order when I saw the Velocity, having crushed some reviews in a rush and hesitate whether it would indeed suit my needs, I slowly came to the realization that I would be buying something that would become more restrictive than the 1 I had ordered, the VKB is supposed to be a brilliant performer given the way the gimbal works.
      I almost went the Gun Fighter series which was double the $, then read reviews that the returns are diminishing.
      I think the VKB and Velocity are 2 entirely different markets where 1 allows for full adjustment with dry clutches, the other relies more on software programming.
      I'd like to see someone take one apart and see how the gimbal works, I doubt it would be anything too sophisticated and that is where I would rather get a smooth gimbal that hides the x/y axis blend and you don't get any jarring (which I have had with all my other sticks).
      This is my 1st foray into an expensive stick, $340 AUD, the Velocity is $250 and isn't released till end of next month and the standard VKB is $275 AUD.

      From the styling and overall ergonomics, I'm pretty sure space games were a significant influence on the design. In space sims, especially Star Citizen, HOSAS (hands on stick and stick) reigns supreme, and the VelocityOne seems basically ideal for a HOSAS setup with it's ambidextrous design and tons of inputs on the stick itself. And two VelocityOne are basically the same price as a X56 while providing a better experience, so that checks out as well.

    • @dankeplace
      @dankeplace ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wsippel The Rhinos are rubbish, but the same $ as the VBK settup with a proper omni throttle.
      I'd rather quality over features that don't increase the performance of the stick.

    • @JoeNDBAVIATION
      @JoeNDBAVIATION  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wsippel One idea that I had with the Velocity One that "centered" around the stiff spring, was the ability to utilize that stick in a full motion space sim. In the past I assisted with some development of motion sim setups and an issue that arose was the lack of centering of some devices when "hanging" from non normal positions and giving "erroneous" inputs.

    So why is an uppity flightsim guy reviewing something designed for gamers in the firstplace? Not everyone can afford high end PC's let alone a big gawdy sim setup my guy. This was clearly designed with console players in mind as the PC guys have a ton of flightstick options, yet the amount of times you asked was Xbox compatability even a thing for anyone watching, could be used as a drinking game for those that partake in such things. The fact this is kinda stiff feeling especially the twist rudder aspect, all but guarantees young kids arent gonna prefer this over something easier to use, but cant forget adding that to the "review" I guess? smh

    • @JoeNDBAVIATION
      @JoeNDBAVIATION  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am sorry that the review frustrated you. I do greatly appreciate the criticism, it is much needed for me to broaden my abilities and reach more than just the PC sim community.
      The review did take a strong PC Sim approach and that is my main priority. I did for many years play flight sims on my consoles, but as I became a flight instructor and furthered my career, I moved to PC only.
      This review came about because the Velocity One was meant to replace my Extreme 3d Pro that my kids have been using. I wanted them to be able to fly on the PC and Xbox. I also did the review because the flight stick offers even PC simmers a lot of functionality in a small footprint. Personally, if I were into space sims I would have two, but I don't have that kind of time.
      Thank you again for your critique and I will always strive to do better.

Secondly, I admit I may have came across a little hot headed in my reply to your review of this. Though I still feel you were a bit over critical of what this product is, & who its trying to appeal to, your extensive background has earned you the right to not be singing its praises like the other reviews Ive seen so far do.
