@@WatchMysh And thanks to you I didn’t end up getting another low quality joystick. I would rather the thrust master MFD to a screen on the joystick but as a vr player, ideally, more games start making use of hand tracking would be cool (and save me money XD)
It’s definitely worth taking the time to do in depth research and investing a bit more in these kind of peripherals. I got a pair of t16000m sticks a year or so ago and more recently the throttle and already have decided to spend the money to invest in the vkb gladiator premium for the right hand and Omni throttle for the left hand. The ball and cup gimbal in the thrustmaster worked fine for games like construction simulator but when using it to fly the center spring throws off fine control (though I did do the spring mod to the right stick). In the end I regretted not just saving up a little more and getting better gimbals from the start. This turtle beach flight deck seems like it’s the worst of all options going by reviews I’ve seen. $400 is expensive for such cheap construction, you’re paying for lights and fancy options (which don’t seem to work well) and sacrificing the most important part which is the gimbal. It’s a shame because I really like some of the design choices they made for this HOTAS. I love the indicators for the throttle positions, maybe not that important but it’s a neat touch in my opinion. If I do get another throttle it will probably the vkb stecs or something similar but I’ve decided it’s better to save and go for a better device for the long run instead of taking chances on the cheaper options
Nice video! I am amazed by these looks and I'm looking to buy this one for €250 used. Would that be a good option, or should I go for the TM t.16000m or the TM TCA captain pack x airbus edition? I'm looking for one that's reliable and doesn't have a sticky center.
@@MrBlobfish2000 it uses the same gimbal as the t16000. The Ursa Minor copied the VKB Gladiator. It's a lot better. They also have an Airbus grip version.
I bought one if these a few weeks ago and absolutely loved the ergonomics and customizable touch screen, but it just up and died on me a few days ago. The stick lights started flickering and it would randomly "reboot" like it became disconnected for a second, and a few days ago it just stopped working altogether. No lights, no detected input. Contacted Turtle Beach for an RMA and I'm literally about to leave my house to take the HOTAS to the post office and send it off. So now I have to suffer playing Elite Dangerous with a controller for the next couple of weeks. 😮💨
So in turn, getting VKB's is still better and at a lower cost then these. I currently have a Logitech x56 since Dec '23, as a gift it works fine but the stick squeaks when you move or twist it. The stick also needs better tensioning springs.

I pulled the trigger and gave this one a go, Im waiting for it to arrive tomorrow and now im seeing all the negative feedback. If i have any QC issues i may return it. I was mostly drawn by the sheer amount of controls available. This is admitably my first HOTAS system so the idea behind it was to have something that can adapt to all the different games i want to try with it, MSFS, Star Citizen (mostly), warthunder and maybe some BF2042. The display and general looks attracted me as a new buyer. Unfortunately all the other products have been on the market for several years and ive seen their prices only go up. On forums i also see people very agressively trashing on products. Logitechs deck for example has its QC also coming up at every comment even after several years from its release. Also looking into the competition I was unable to find any announcements by another company developing anything similar. Especially in terms of some kind of haptic feedback. Are you guys waiting for any releases? In what price range are we expecting them?
If you want quality devices I'd suggest you take a look at VKB, WinWing and Virpil. Check out my hotas overview video to see what's available. :) Like I mention in the video: for the same price you can get a Winwing Hotas system that's high end entry in terms of quality. It's also very adaptable. Get a set of pedals to go with it since it doesn't twist and you're good. There are lots of combinations available that are easily as versatile as the Flight Deck. The displays are just gimmicks in my opinion and look flashy. I'd rather get something with real flip switches you can operate without looking at them.
@@natedogg7376 Glad you like yours. Other people comparing stuff is not a "hate echo chamber" though. The WinWing set is cheaper and several leagues above the Flight Deck in terms of build quality. In my books is was a disappointment though. //edit: A VKB Gladiator NXT EVO combined with an Orion2 also is around 400€ and of a lot higher quality. I actually bought this Velocity HOTASS very cheap, hoping to get back into Space Sims. I think I have used every major brand out there before, including TM, Saitek, Logitech, Virpil and VKB. The most daunting thing for me was always, setting the HOTAS up in SC or ED. Unfortunately, no Sim dev cares about Turtlebeach, so there is no device support and I have to do all assignments manually. I have that thing for 2months now and still did not feel the mood to use it..haha. Something about it just doesnt sit right. I have also noticed that it has more physical buttons than you can assign. I mean you can click them, but they do not show up in Windows or Flight Hangar. Weird… also, the B1 button on the stick keeps falling off.

Bought some counterweights used to balance car wheels, will try to stick them into the base/throttle XD VKB is practically unavailable in Europe, they offer 'air delivery' which results in smth like 250 euros only for a stick, crazy
That's not a crazy price for a well made stick. VKB sits several notches over Logitech and Thrustmaster. Look into Win Wing, might be easier to get and pricing is more transparent.

The X56 is quite bad, yes ... Check out my HOTAS overview video if you need a market overview. I'm not so much into civilian aviation so I can't recommend a throtte quadrant, though. If you want an affordable but sturdy flight stick with a good gimbal check out the WinWing Ursa Minor.
It's made to LOOK expensive but anyone who has bought many peripherals before recognizes the cheapness and cutcorners. A plastic ball gimbal is not something you see on good quality flight sticks. This is basically the same situation as the Saitek X56 with its many problems and failures.
Had it for about a month. I do like all the features it has specially the B1 button has thumb tracking so can use it instead of grabbing the mouse. My touch screen has no lag like yours but updated it right away. Is it a high tier stick no, is it medium tier yes. Seems like you’re trying to compare it to winwing or something. When it’s trying to compete with thrustmaster.
@@PaleAle-kg7gz ofc I compare it to Winwing. It sits at the same price. Now with the Ursa Minor there's even less of a reason to buy a flight deck. The Ursa plus a Orion2 throttle with a grip of your choice even sells for less and is two leagues above.
@@PaleAle-kg7gz Where do you live? (Warthog is sub par, too). I judge on European and US prices. The Flight Deck is 399 here. Currently on sale at TB for 369.

So I judge on EU/US prices and available competition. That's where it hits a brick wall in the form of Winwing. Within the EU there's even free shipping.
I still think this is a better buy than the x-56. The real issue is that in my country I can't get a virpil or vkb without importing, and the import duties cost half what the stick does.

Hey. :) Depends on the bubble you're getting your reviews from. I'm by far not the only one. A lot of very experienced HOTAS content creators share my point of view. To verify just go to r/hotas and ask about the Flight Deck's overall quality there. Or in the HOTAS discord. Doesn't matter.
@@WatchMysh also most players are coming from thrustmaster x or one and compared to them the flightdeck is miles ahead. Maybe next time? We'll see.
I bought this and it's junk, pinky trigger on the throttle is already broken. No warranty because It was bought as a gift from Amazon, Turtle Beach will only warranty if bought directly from them.
Well it’s really not to bad of a deal considering you get the joystick and the throttle. I see alot of other options just the joystick is $200 and you still need the throttle after that
@@micr0d0t97 What you get in the end is a lot better though. If you buy a Gladiator and a TWCS throttle you're still paying less and the stick/gimbal is a lot better than the Flight Deck's. The TWCS throttle is on the same quality level as the Flight Deck. The WinWing Warthog set I mentioned (stick and throttle) sits at the same price point and demolishes the Flight Deck from a quality perspective. The only reason to buy the FD is if you're on console and you don't have a choice. Oh and today you could buy a Winwing Ursa Minor and a Orion2 throttle from them. @@micr0d0t97 I also love those things. Sadly the screens lag and the touch pad is next to unusable. And let's not talk about the bottom tier gimbal of the Flight Deck. I suggest to do yourself a favour and buy some proper quality gear that comes without screens and touch pads but a proper gimbal, quality plastics and/or metal components, quality switches and customizable resistance. A good allround bundle for desk use is the VKB Gladiator NXT EVO combined with a STECS Mini Plus. Both use the same software and you get VKB's legendary customer service. The Gladiator even has clutches which the Flight Deck also lacks. You can remove the springs and fly helicopters. In case oft the Orion2 set you get a complete super smooth metal gimbal. No twist though. You'd need to go all in and buy a set of pedals, too. Luckily the WinWings Orion pedals are the best bang for the buck in the market. So you also could get the whole pack (Stick, base, Throttle, pedals) from WinWing. If you compare it to the Flight Deck that'll be powder coated aluminum vs some cheap plastic. I'll take all of that any day over a few screens (you probably rarely look at while flying) and a barely functioning micro touch pad.
@@WatchMysh thank you for the honest review, now I don’t think I will be going for the flight deck. I think now I’m leaning more towards winwings / VKB. @@micr0d0t97 They have the feedback. Now they can produce a Flight Deck 2.0. But I guess they won't. The FD is exactly what they wanted to make: shiny seemingly high end gear that's cheap to produce and easy to sell because shiny and good looking. Good idea to go for better gear! :)
Winwing is also low end garbage that has zero warranty at all. So when it breaks or has any problem winwing won’t help you out or send you a new item or rma it. So take you gamble
Also here: that's over exaggarated, especially the "low end garbage". I don't need to defend companies but I like to stick to the facts. Their service is mid-tier at best but they usually respect warranties. Otherwise we would have way more complaints on r/hotas for example than there actually are.

This is not good advice at all. Telling people to just throw thousands at a HOTAS system is insane. You obviously don't understand WHO this is for. The all-in-one approach of this system is very good for the price. A beginner isn't going to buy over-priced sticks and mounts for their first entry into sim flying.
How is this bad advice if you can get by far better quality gear for LESS money? I never told anyone to throw thousands at anything. Did you even watch the video? I perfectly understand who this is for: people who dont know there's a lot of better gear but just not on Amazon. The Flight Deck is full with pretty rgb lighting but sells you the worst gimbal construction of them all at a premium price. It's on the same level as a t16000 stick for 60 bucks... But as I told another person before: It's your money. Burn it for an overpriced chunk of plastic as long as you want. But don't forget: A 100 Dollar Winwing Ursa Minor stomps this set easily which leaves you with 300 bucks for a high quality throttle. If you don't believe me go to r/hotas and ask there.
This channel literally has videos reviewing HOTAS gear from budget to high-end. Turtle Beach unfortunately spent more money on the aesthetics of this HOTAS and not the quality. It's basically this generations X-56.
he called one of the toggle switches a flap leaver, wrong, he said theres another throttle on the throttle, wrong that is the flap leaver, dont trust reviews that get simple things wrong, in other words, this guy has no idea what hes saying
I never called the switches flap lever. I said "Among the controls is a flap lever and some momentary switches". The switches also aren't toggles, but momentaries. The axis you mentioned is an independent axis that can be used as I flap lever or another throttle / cooler / whatever axis. That's a problem with my wording, not me being clueless. (It's lever without the "a" by the way.) The real error was that I accidentally called the gear lever a flap lever in the beginning, but you missed that ... I'll put that in the sticky, though. In the end though nothing changes the fact that the Flight Deck is an overprized flimsy piece of tech.
@@WatchMysh whatever you say, I've seen 10 reviews telling me to buy it and showing how to config it, you did say the obvious flap lever on the throttle was another throttle, what kind of throttle has 100 on the bottom, obvious flap lever, sorry but i dont trust people who make simple mistakes on things this important 😁
I just explained you why I called it like that. I see so many sticks and throttles within a year, for me it's just another axis. It can be used as a flap lever, a throttle, whatever you want it to be. You're taking a slight error of my script to discredit my whole assessment. I know you want the Flight Deck to be good ... exactly as I hoped, too. It isn't. Look up similar priced products like the WinWing Orion2 HOTAS set. It's mostly metal, comes with a gimbal that smokes the Flight Deck effortlessly and has superior ergomomics and even more controls. But feel free to dump your hard earned money for flimsy plastic crap. Just don't cry later that nobody told you.
Every serious review points out how faulty and crap this setup is …I don’t sub this dude and no idea why I read this random comment but blowing off the entire review over a few mislabeled switches seems weird lol. It doesn’t make this subpar overpriced kit any less subpar and overpriced. Glad I watched reviews before eating $ on it. You'll then understand my critique.
@@meanmicro Do you even understand what a review is? He isn't here to agree with your opinion just because you bought one. Nobody is saying it is terrible. The biggest knock against it is the quality versus the price. If you like all the bells and whistles and colors on it, that's great. But some people would prefer build quality and function over frills, for the price of this stick. If that ain't your cup of tea fine, do your own review, but don't come down on others for their own honest opinions.
Correct me if I am wrong but I swear my VKB nxt evo space combat edition has better placed buttons and seems to be better made.
The Gladiator sits two leagues above the Flight Deck in terms of build quality.
@@WatchMysh And thanks to you I didn’t end up getting another low quality joystick. I would rather the thrust master MFD to a screen on the joystick but as a vr player, ideally, more games start making use of hand tracking would be cool (and save me money XD)
Can confirm, my NXT is a game changer.
Exactly. Everything.
Nice review! Thanks for explaining in detail what some flaws were!
Thanks! You're welcome! 🤗
Can wait for the updated version of this. I feel like now would be a great time with MSFS coming so soon.

@@WatchMysh looks like I commented on the wrong video, I meant the hotas for 2024

@@MrBlobfish2000 ok misunderstanding. I have no idea about the internals of the TCA throttle.

So that's not elitism either. Why pay more for less even if you don't fly a lot? I' d suggest you go try out the mentioned products. You'll spot the differences immediately. I had high hopes for the Flight Deck since we're still missing an affordable mid range HOTAS system. In my books is was a disappointment though.
//edit:
A VKB Gladiator NXT EVO combined with an Orion2 also is around 400€ and of a lot higher quality. Don't even need pedals then because you have twist. That's just how it is - no hate here.
Hi did you get your Hotas and try it with Star Citizen ?
@@diddelmann9145 Hey, yes. I am playing star citizen with it. Overall it is a mixed experience. The OLED screen is still not very functional. The abundance of buttons tho is. Quality wise its okay. I was lucky and received one of the fine units. I do have some weird bugs here and there, but nothing a restart doesn't fix, and firmware updates keep improving the functionality of the devices.
"Button keeps falling off" sums up the quality impression I had.
got x52 pro for 100 euros a few weeks ago almost new, works great, but I want to add weight there and if possible decrease the tension near edges of a gimbal. Bought some counterweights used to balance car wheels, will try to stick them into the base/throttle XD
VKB is practically unavailable in Europe, they offer 'air delivery' which results in smth like 250 euros only for a stick, crazy
VKB has an email notification for availability alerts. I've heard it works quite well. :)

It's made to LOOK expensive but anyone who has bought many peripherals before recognizes the cheapness and cutcorners. A plastic ball gimbal is not something you see on good quality flight sticks. This is basically the same situation as the Saitek X56 with its many problems and failures.
Yes
Was $200 less here than the warthog. I checked into winwing was going to cost $400 more that’s without the shipping to me.

If you like the FD that's fine. It's not that you couldn't fly with it... But I have to tell people as it is.

@@billfletcher9761 Glad you're happy with it. Coming from a wobbly Hotas X the Flight Deck must feel like a surgical Instrument.
Still I'm just comparing price to performance and build quality within the bigger picture. The Flight Deck can't compete here. I wish it could since I like the idea of a "good casual midrange set". Maybe next time? We'll see.
I bought this and it's junk, pinky trigger on the throttle is already broken. No warranty because It was bought as a gift from Amazon, Turtle Beach will only warranty if bought directly from them.
That's really shitty customer service. Would also be illegal in the EU @ warranty.
In the end you also pay less for a quality two leagues above the Flight Deck.
@@WatchMysh hmm that gives me something to think about, i want to get as stick sand throttle for my stepdad for his birthday and i was going to go with the turtle beach cause its like a all in one [package but i will look into the ones you listed and compare. i think one thing i like about the turtle beach is the touch pad and little screens on it. idk why but i love things that have little info displays and screens. im such a sucker for that.
On paper this is one of the best HOTAS out there, too bad they messed it up in QC.

Hi! :)
he called one of the toggle switches a flap leaver, wrong, he said theres another throttle on the throttle, wrong that is the flap leaver, dont trust reviews that get simple things wrong, in other words, this guy has no idea what hes saying
(It's lever without the "a" by the way.)
The real error was that I accidentally called the gear lever a flap lever in the beginning, but you missed that ...
And it’s not just YT reviews, Reddit, etc full of the same …they chose glam over function 🙄
Yea it's obvious sampling bias. Pointing out 2 minor mistakes, or misunderstandings doesn't disprove the quintessence of the video. The HOTAS might be usable, but has serious flaws that shouldn't be there for that price.
