Wow does that sparkle. I made a trip around the world once, but did the sewing strips together, method. Did it because it was faster and easier, but little did I know that if you do your squares individually it sparkled a lot more. And besides that not all my scraps are strips or can be stripped. A lot are small hunks. Thanks for showing up one of the most beautiful quilts ever, Vanna! ❤❤

@@barbararussell6136 There are wonderful neutrals already coordinated into layer cakes and fat quarter bundles. The great thing about scrap quilts you can add any fabric in the middle or end of the process without worry. And fabric acquisition is another hobby all by itself 😉 Thanks for watching ❤️
Love webbing! I first encountered it on Terry Rowland's YT Channel as part of her "Color Wash Scrap Quilt Challenge" series. I've since webbed a couple of quilts. It's not necessarily something I do on every single quilt, but it's an approach I love having in my arsenal! Your project looks great!

@@dianeroome972 Diane you could! If you do quilting long enough, you will amass scraps. If you have the money, fat quarter shop sells scrap bags. Sew yeah on youtube sells scrap bags too. And sometimes especially right now, people who have lots of scraps are purging their stuff, you may find it in thrift shops or from friends. ❤️
Very pretty and good information. I made (my first and only) Trip Around the World using men's dress shirts. A friend asked me to make a quilt using her father's dress shirts. I made a lap size ( I used 18 shirts) and QAYG using the quadrants as sections so I could quilt it (stitch in the ditch) on my domestic machine. Despite my learning as I go, it turned out very pretty. I wish I knew then how you laid out your squares. Thank you!

Your technique is spot on! I love your quilt and process. I did a similar quilt with 1 1/2” strips, 100” x 100”, 10,000 pieces. It is my pride and joy. Suggestion: Do a “victory lap” 1/8” deep around the outside edge.

Do you think it would have helped if you had stay stitched 1/8" away from the left edge of the quilt? Or maybe zig zagged? Webbing is magic!!
@@blairseibert1778 Blair that is a good question. For the block builds there was no fraying. Others suggested stitching the victory lap around the quilt. Pairing up fabrics for each block was my favorite part❤️

Have you tried putting a piece of painters tape on the edge of the sole plate on to the body of the machine, it will act as a bridge smoothing out the edge you have
@@debraholdman5308 There was the original seam gauge, that came with a screw, I took the break press at work and sheared an old ruler, drilled a hole and voila, a seam gauge that steers long strips of fabric. Thank you for watching my videos!❤️

I have trouble with the plate flipping my seams also. I just put a piece of masking tape over the edge and problem solved. no more turned seams.
