@@Johnmims65 - I can't recommend 1 of the two, that's going to be tough, the iPad is great for what it was meant to be, the Tab S8 Ultra is a great tablet which i was rooting for the S8 but since i mainly worked on apple i can't recommend, but the best way for you to do is to go to the mall and test-out the units and decide which is best for you.

I have the M1 iPad Pro and I think what the M2 offers isn’t worth a upgrade for the average daily user consumers. M1 is very powerful piece of tech.

I never understood why the Instagram app developers have not made the iOS version full screen. Maybe it is the aspect ratio of the screen.
I own a 2017 iPad Pro and it still runs great. I just updated to iPadOS 16 the other day.

I only recently sold my 11” 2018 IPad Pro and got myself the 2021 WiFi and Cellular 12.9” Pro. I’m good for the next two years. Apple out here just trolling people. BooYa!!! 😁👊🏽

Hi Flossy. Tablets are pretty much indispensable on a Sailboat, for all round use, but especially for emergency backup Navigation, plus connecting the Boat Network and connecting to everything Connected to it, including Charts, Radar, AIS, Echosounder, instruments , just like an extra Multifunction Display, but at a substantial saving over the Cost of a MFD. So .I can have one 9" MFD at each Helm Station, a Mount for a Big Tablet at the Cockpit table, and a few Tabkets below to be able to keep an eye on things while in the Galley, have one at the Chart Table, and another fully set up ready to go in a Faraday Bag, in case a lightning strike takes the system down or whatever. That big iPad Pro looks good enough to not bother with a TV on board, though a Smart TV can do the same things pretty much as a tablet while the System is up. I do prefer Samsung Tablets tbh, but I think I'd go for a few iPads like those, as for Raymarine Network integration, they could well be the best choice given the number of Yachties using iPads, and the pressure from them on Both Apple and Raymarine to get on top of making sure things are right. One of the big selling point for me with the iPad Pro is the cellular connectivity and hot spot. I can connect either my M1 MacBook Air or my MacBook Pro to the hot spot on the iPad. Then I can use the iPad as an extended monitor. Perfect for travel.
You can do the exact same thing on the Samsung Tablets.

@@yeldarleumas1847 What are you talking about. I checked right now in the official page of Samsung. There is an option to get the Samsung Tab 8 Ultra (5G). Both options are available, Wi-Fi and 5G.
Got to go with iPad on this one. Apple mafia I guess. M1 and M2 blow Snapdragon out of the water. No contest. Desktop performance in a tablet. Samsung can’t match that. Great for intensive apps like Photoshop and for coding on iPad. Plus thunderbolt export speeds. If you do any intensive tablet work then iPad Pro is the only choice. Otherwise Samsung has a good product for leisure stuff.
iPad will also get longer-term support and OS updates.

Used it for a couple of hours, still gets surprised with the charger to give us the reaction he had for real. Thats how a reviewer should be 👏
The iPad Pro is a 10 bit display, the Samsung is an 8 bit display. The colors pop on the iPad Pro and the Samsung isn't bright enough for outdoor use at only 600 nits and colors are muted. The iPad Pro is 1600 nits, more than twice as bright!
The iPad Pro has a better optimized operating system and more powerful hardware. I love my Windows custom built gaming PC, but everything else will be Apple.
As far as longevity is concerned, the iPad Pro wins hands down because the apps are supported for years longer than Android. The app developers stop updating Android after awhile, so apps get slower and even crash and become irrelevant fast.
I've had with these Android/Samsung phones, which are updated frequently and each update seems to degrade the Android experience.
In my opinion this is one thing that definitely hasn’t been worth an upgrade since the first one with Face ID from 2018. I bought the first one with Face ID refurbished last year. The newer ones would definitely obviously perform better though. I agree, it’s not like a phone as far as upgrading as well.

10:15 I think Apple don't have multi-tasking on their phones because the demographic that uses the Apple ecosystem (myself included) uses their phones for just a bit of social media/browsing/texting, and their iPads/Macs for literally anything more than that. It's more down to user habits. The Android market is pretty much the opposite. P.S. Floss is the best tech reviewer on YT. Much love from the UK.
Also because of their business model. I feel by providing multitasking features only on their ipads makes people to buy ipads more, (infact forcing them) where ipad is just an iphone with a bigger screen.
I feel android users can get their works done on their phones itself as they are not bound to buy products of a specific company.
Android user always has a choice whether to multitask on phone or maybe switch to a bigger screen.

App optimization came a very long way on the Galaxy Tab. I won’t be choosing one over an iPad never though.

I bought me a 2021 M1 iPad Pro and a Apple Pencil last year and it has something better than my iPad 8th Generation that I traded in. The new M2 iPad Pro 2022’s are interesting but I’m glad you said not to upgrade if anyone has a M1 iPad Pro 2021. If I upgrade in the future, I would do it in a heartbeat. Until then, I’m gonna continue enjoying my M1 iPad Pro 2021. 🙂😊

The best devices apple made I think are their first pro models, the iPhone 11 pro and the iPad pro 2018 have been way too good and still are really solid. And ipads since 2018 have been an speaker with an side of ipad, apple is way too good at making small speakers sound amazing

I’ve noticed that this iPad that came out a couple weeks ago still has the sim tray. Kinda surprised me because the iPhone came out a month ago and has esim. I was expecting the esim to come to iPad too. As far as the charger goes, I can’t remember if they included it with the previous iPads but I think they said for now, iPads will ship with chargers. I could be wrong tho.

Amazing video as always Floss! I’m actually in the other boat. I sold my Tab S8 Ultra to buy the M2 12.9 Pro. I switch back and forth and I’m sure I’ll eventually get the Tab S9 Ultra when it comes out too 😂 I watched the whole video while I was working, but I didn’t remember seeing you use stage manager on the iPad. It’s definitely a bad ass feature that finally makes use of the bigger screen for better multi-tasking. My main issue with the tab S8 Ultra was the size (giggity) It was just too big to use on the couch at night without being a burden. I switch between Android and iOS ever year or so as I really like them both. Also, for your instagram comparrison, the reason those social media apps are larger is because they’re not optimized for a tablet on android, they just fill the whole screen. Turn that Tab S landscape and the shit stays sideways 😂 - Just my opinion tho, great video man!

Just a tip in case you end up getting that tab s9 ultra down the road! Enabling that in Labs is a game changer for social media apps, Samsung should make it the default setting honestly.

Mini LED is not coming to 11" from what I heard. Some new oled tech will probably be the upgrade eventually.

I'm in both the Apple and Samsung ecosystems and agree with Flossy that in terms of tablets only - the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ and S8 Ultra are better in many ways for more diverse uses of a tablet. And the S pen is so impressive!
Interesting. I bought the iPad pro(M1) partly off Flossy's review. I use android phones myself but I've always kinda liked iPads over android tablets. The experience was horrible back in the day vs the phone experience so I liked the phones but hated the tablets, maybe I should give the galaxy tab a try.

iPad pro is about 4x faster than a galaxy 360 laptop... 20x faster 3d graphics... its not even the same beast, your iPad will outlast any of those devices.... the phones compare, some of the desktops compare.... but the tablets and laptops are NOT even in the same game
iPad pro isnt really a media device... thats the regular iPad. The pro is a workstation performance professional product, its such a heavy hitter its insane the amount of pro apps and processing it is capable of... u cant compare it to a samsung product or laptop... they dont sell a product in this league, not even close.

Blaming Apple for Meta refusing to make an iPad compatible app and forcing you to use the iPhone app, fine, I can sort of accept that. But at the end when you said you can’t share your MacBook screen with your iPad wirelessly, that’s just wrong. You can easily do that. Feature is called sidecar and has been around for a while now. Even allows you to use the Pencil and touchscreen in MacOS. You can also share your mouse and keyboard effortlessly between devices now, even if you don’t share the screen, just by moving your mouse from one to the other when they are near.
Finally, why didn’t you look at Stage Manager? I know external monitor support isn’t coming until 16.2 (in beta currently) later this year, but there’s your resizable windows and what not right there.

To anyone who questions tablets in favor of laptops. I could rent my text books for various textbook sites on their apps and easily take notes very easily, take a quiz and do so many other useful things. When it was time to type a paper I do prefer laptops but that's about it.
I would love the 16gb ram version just the price is a nice gaming laptop. Oh well 8gb it is. Great video as always.

@@mister.Ed1 debatable? no its not, ARM chips surpassed x86 tech 2 years ago. Not only can your desktop chip NOT even do half the things your ARM chip can do, they are slower at doing discrete x86 tasks. Even intel is no longer making x86 chips in their new facility... nvidia, intel, samsung, broadcom makes ARM chips now. Apple M1 chip is far more capable and faster than the Intel Core i9-9900k @ 3.60 Ghz and the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X. Even on x86 discrete artificial benchmarks like on cpubenchmark the M1 scores 17,252 which is just under the 10 core Intel 9900k at 18,585. And the 10 core M1 scores 22,245!!! at x86 tasks being EMULATED. Yes, this means your A12X iPhone chip from 3 versions ago is still 40% faster than any chip broadcom or samsung has come up with ... and YES, it is still faster than 90% of desktop computers, why do you think Apple stopped buying Intel and started putting their iPhone chips in workstation class hardware!!???! "debatable" what! Oh and steam has under 8,000 games on it, ... apple store has 295,000 games on it... and google play has close to as many. 36x more games Fortnite, Minecraft, Warzone... all on ARM and they do it at 35 watts... not 150 watts of a desktop chip.

Oh Google makes ARM chips now too. Next year I don't think anyone is even going to be selling x86 but maybe AMD. But like I said, the architecture doesn't do the voice and image processing the arm chips do, as well as other features. Intel added features to the new 12,900 and 13,900 chips... that's why the AMD fan boys were laughing saying that they didn't improve FPS on current title games and intel sucks. BUT, soon AMD chips won't even be able to play the new games. And intel also added on board graphics, but it's all too late, they are switching to being an ARM manufacturer for third party designer.
