- Ginzan Onsen Hot Spring Village in winter 😍 One of Japan's top hot spring destinations, with gorgeous traditional ryokan hotels lining Ginzan river. Ginzan Onsen is rumored to have inspired Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
♨️ ABOUT GINZAN ONSEN
Located deep in the snowy mountains of Yamagata, Ginzan Onsen is one of Japan's most pictureque hot spring towns. Don't let the remote location deter you from visiting, you can access the town by hopping on the Yamagata Shinkansen from Tokyo (3hr ride) and transferring to a local bus (40min).
You can spend the night in one of the traditional ryokan hotels, but even if you're just around for the day, there are several places that allow visitors to use their hot spring baths for a fee. If you're not a fan of public bathing, you can enjoy the free outdoor footbaths to keep your feet toasty after strolling around in the cold.

Nah, Kansas fortitude should not be underestimated. They get heat indexes of 110f (43C) in the summer and negative wind chills (-20C) in the winter. Throw in all the fun being where weather systems from the Gulf, Canada, and the US Rockies meet can cause some really wacky weather (and/or Tornadoes).
Kansas just be that crazy city slicker like you don't understand 🎉

@@sharlainjapan Unfortunately they have no availabilities on my dates...😭😭😭 I tried to tweek my plans a little bit but nothing in February for a solo traveller. Weirdly, they had rooms for couples but it would have been to expensive... Next time !

This is a nice relaxing video to watch. The stamp this time has a nice vibe with the lampposts. That place looks so pretty but super cold! I doubt I'd last long there lol. The food looks tasty! The hot choco looks so good with the toasted marshmallows on top. It's always fun to see some small behind the scene clips if JaJ in your videos as well.

I have a question regarding JAJ: Sometimes the guests are in the van you are traveling in and sometimes they are with Chris in the car. I wonder what the reason is (probably coordination and/ or organisation reasons, but Id love to know more !)
If the main guest isn’t in the keicar it’s prob just cuz we all travelled in the van for weather reasons! This trip into the village wasn’t ideal keicar weather😂

It's always so crowded tho! Sharla has a video of Kinosaki (another onsen town) which I think is much better and I visited last Oct (esp if you're closed to Osaka/Kyoto)

Fantastic idea of busing people into popular tourist area. Wish they did that for national parks in states. Especially in heavily traveled area.
They do that at Zion National Park in Utah! It was nice not having all the cars around.
